    Every day, I listen podcast or watch videos on UA-cam for almost one hour and I read for almost other hour, also I read and listen at the same time and that's help me to improve my vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. This is a great video, thank you

    Listening and reading at the same time is an absolute game changer! At first, I weirdly felt like I was cheating (may it be your fault, school system?), but then I realised just how many new words were sticking with me. It's mind-blowing! As always, great video Luca😎

      I think it's not too good to sharpen your listening skills if you're reading the transcription of whatever content you're whatching to. (I mean, at least for me, it works this way. I just started to see progress once I started only listening without any extra aid to rely on.)

    Querido Luca. Ayer llegó a casa tu "10 Regole essenziali..."

      @@LucaLampariello At the early beginner stage, when I read, I do so intensively, deconstructing the language. Listening does not help me with that. Second reading is indeed while listening, to finally match sound and words.
      At more advanced stages, I either read or listen: I read when I have the time to sit down and go through content, and I listen when I'm walking, driving or doing the chores.

    Grazie, Luca. Buon lavoro! 😊

    Hi dear Luca, your knowledge is very impressive.💥
    You should be on TED Talk; you're the best in this field!
    Anyway, I would kindly like to ask for your opinion about the "necessary amount of hours" to master a language.
    Many people on the internet say that the famous 10,000 hours are just not enough to become truly skilled.
    Others claim that more than 3,500 hours are sufficient.
    And there are also those who argue that it’s impossible to achieve mastery without putting in around 20,000 hours or more.
    What do you think?
    A warm greeting, Luca!
    Thank you so much.😊

    • @LucaLampariello
      @LucaLampariello  3 місяці тому

      Buongiorno Giuseppe! There is no fixed amount of hours when it comes to speaking a foreign language, because "speaking a foreign language", "speaking fluently", "mastering a language" etc are all vague terms.
      Don't count the hours, make the hours count.
      As long as you consume a great quantity of language resources you like (podcasts, movies, TV-series, books magazines etc) and you do it in a purposeful and smart way, you are going to develop great language skills.
      Focus on the PROCESS and never on the results, as we are taught in school.

    • @Giuseppe-c5y
      @Giuseppe-c5y 2 місяці тому

      @@LucaLampariello Yes, Luca, you're absolutely right!
      I believe it's less productive to focus solely on the number of hours spent. Listening to 10,000 hours of content in the target language without intentionality can be unproductive.
      If I remember correctly, you also mentioned this in one of your courses.
      However, there are many discussions online about the famous "10,000 hours" concept popularized by Malcolm Gladwell in his book, that you know so well.
      Grazie mille !😊

    a few factors end up being important for this to work well: audio should be clean and easy to hear without sound effects or unusual voice acting. phrases should be cleanly deliniated. content should be interesting. vocabulary should not be too advanced unless you are willing to return to the same next many days.
    in other words it's a bit too much to learn vocabularly and struggle to parse the audio, and can be very fatiguing if the pronunciation is at the outer edges of what is acceptable to native speakers.
    the other factor is patience, if the language is distant it takes a very long time to build up intuition for what words could mean, on the order of years. it can be enjoyable to go through that process and there are many breakthroughs along the way, but it's not something to suffer through if you think competence is just around the corner. I find that if I am tired I can't enjoy or understand my second language, but besides that it has been rewarding to watch a show or read a story and understand it well.

    • @LucaLampariello
      @LucaLampariello  3 місяці тому +2

      It is a psychological thing. When you speak with native speakers you are more self-conscious of your languages skills. And that's an interesting idea for a new video so thanks for that!

    Depending on your level, and I´m beginning to HATE UA-cam. It´s nearly over for me. But, Spotify is now the go-to or more correctly said, "becoming new" video place. UA-cam with it´s interruptions ever 2 minutes is unwatchable now. Boring, trite, unfiltered dumbassery. I´ll see Luca with his super intelligent advice, followed by a lying fraud talking about becoming fluent in 6 months. It´s like being in a Mexican Airport. You don´t get too close to the bathroom door in fear that some group of vendors is going to try and rape you and steal your money! There are so many great, clear voiced Spanish pódcasts: Black Mango (B2), Wild Project (C2), I´ve still not sorted through them all! Spotify is the coming king of AV media.
