For information about KC Anthem go to KCanthem.tv Thank you to those who corrected our mistake in calling this "Livin' on a Prayer" instead of "Prayer '94". We're leaving the title as is because we believe most people believe this song to be "Livin' on a Prayer."
winded my way back to this today- this is the type of voice that should be on the radio - not the auto-tuned, weak voices that we hear so often. Sounds better live - that's a true artist.
This dude’s vocals give goosebumps and makes earthquakes.
Wow, this is awesome.'
He is the best.
I love acoustic David.
I love his voice.
I love the way he kisses the mic.
He is just the best singer ever.
He has total command over that beautiful voice.
Very nice video. Excellent quality.
Thank you for capturing the essence of David.
Bravo David!
Wow...This is awesome! His voice is really really good. I love when he sings accoustic. Just him and the guitar. Check out 'The world i know' that he sing at Ellen's show after he win AI. So many Bon Jovi fan out there giving him credit for doing this song, it just proved that how good he is. Does he know how good he is???
This version is from Bon Jovi's This Left Feels Right album.
I'm amazed by both this and the My Hero performance recorded at the same time -- just him and his guitar on a little wooden platform outdoors in his high school football stadium during his "home visit" for American Idol Top 3 week. The sound quality, his voice, what must have been going through his head at the time. Love these recordings.
this guy is simply AMAZING even when not on ai he still chages up the songs and makes him his own
His voice is SO amazing. Words can't even describe.
Best Idol Ever!!!
Who’s listening in 2022? 🙋♀️
this is a great version of this song!! it's one of my favorite sung by favorite American Idol!!!! it would be cool to see him and Bon Jovi singing it together!! =D
Oh how I absolutely adore this man! God bless you, David Cook!
Amazing voice, great cover!
What a handsome voice 😎🙂😍😘
Tommy used to work on the docks, union's been on strike
He's down on his luck, it's tough, so tough
Gina works the diner all day, working for her man
She brings home her pay, for love, mmm, for love
She says, "We've gotta hold on to what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot for love
We'll give it a shot"
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Tommy's got his six string in hock, now he's holding in
When he used to make it talk so tough, ooh, it's tough
Gina dreams of running away
When she cries in the night, Tommy whispers
"Baby, it's okay, someday"
We've gotta hold on to what we've got
It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not
We've got each other and that's a lot for love
We'll give it a shot
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand, we'll make it I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Livin' on a prayer
Oh, we've gotta hold on, ready or not
You live for the fight when that's all that you've got
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Whoa, we're half way there
Whoa oh, livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it, I swear
Whoa oh
Tip your hats to Mr. Cook
So many guys try to pay Bon Jovi homage by trying to cover his song by closing in on his performance. And they ultimately have to fail. And it is not the point of performing a cover version.
David does it like its got to be done - do your own version of what you feel like the song should feel like to you.
He is a true artist.
one of the best Bon Jovi covers ever, and he's and amazing singer!!! I really hope he wins
who said anything about beating him? That's not what he's trying to do. If anything, cover performances are a way to honor the original creator.
amazing amazing amazing amazimg awesome awesome awesome awesome amazing!!!!!! He is just amazing amazing voice!
@dawashel1 David Cook most definitely has a CD! His first major label album (self-titled) was released Nov 2009 and went platinum in 3 mos. The CD's are hard to find now -- none left at my Walmart or Best Buy. But you can order from Amazon or download from iTunes. Cook's new album is anticipated by late summer 2010.
Guys, maybe Archuleta is a little better in the vocal quality or singing(which i personally dont believe). But look at the Originiality Cook brings in his covers. He creates a new song on its own which turns out to be a success!!.. This is called Talent!.. Wenever i see Cook, he reminds me of Daughtry!.. We need these talents!!
Covering a Bon Jovi song is like covering a Whitney Houston song:one can't hope to top the original artist, but even to step onto the same "field" takes a fool or a master, and in this case, we definitely have a master! I actually prefer this one to all but the acoustic version from Bon Jovi..
Wow 2:15 he looks so sexy! never in my life have i ever wanted to be a microphone so bad! i love what he did with the chorus! I LOVE THIS MAN! thank you lord for giving us a beautiful gift from heaven...i mean am i right? i sound like an obsessed fan! haha im not....just love his voice!
Also been a long-time Bon Jovi fan and there have been many covers of this song. OMG, David hits it out of the park! I loved the stripped down, raw feeling of this accoustic version. I would love to hear him play with Bon Jovi on the finale night. (Or Chris Cornell)
I like him too but he is also very good in covering cover-versions (just a note for those out there who do not know Bon Jovi's acoustic version of L.o.a.P. or maybe Billy Jean in the style of Chris Cornell)...
jeeeez I sure hope david 's album sounds this good--- this bon jovi song with his twist blows the prig out of the water!!!!
I think he is the most exciting new musician around. i cant take my eyes off of him he is magnetic!
i know all that its just my opinion i like the vocals but his version of the cords just dont do it 4 me....take a peek @ an evening with bonjovi its here on you tube its out of this world!!!
its Em and its Bon Jovis 2nd version of "livin on a prayer". its on their greatest hits cd titled "prayer '94" its really different but its still pretty good...but DC didnt come up wit this version.
David Cook can sing anything and put his own flavor. His voice is so distinct. There's just so much friggin' talent in him. he could sing Britney Spears and trump her with her own songs! Jeez!
@idontknowanname lol this is exactly like jovi did himself way more years ago but ok ^^
If you listen to the unplugged version done by Bon Jovi you will see that David's version is far better. It is also certainly true to the original song but with that added Cookian twist.
Archuleta is awkward during his performances, interviews, and just walking on stage :P He may have a great voice, but Cook is the complete vocal and stage performance package, FTW!
i think i know where he took this version from. it's from the 2007 unplugged version of bon jovi. if you check out livin' on a prayer, the chorus is similar to that.
okay, im david cooks biggest fan and if anybody wants to talk bad about him you come to me first, if you dont have anything nice to say then dont comment on his videos.
It's pretty hard to match Jon or Richie's voice, but David is close.. Great Cover..
I have seen Jon Bon Jovi sing this song live and i think he would be pretty damn impressed with someone singing his song this bloody well. Gave me goosebumps!
@idontknowanname ah ok
but i said it is the exact cover ^^ same like billie jean
covering a song doesnt mean that your also proving your better than the original its actually a flattery for bon jovi... a good singer singing their song.
Damn, who reversed the video picure? I mean he's holding the strings with the right hand and playing with the left hand. That be wrong, mkay.
well he was known to change songs around a lot when he was on American Idol
i'm pretty sure 99% of people out there know that david cook did not write livin on a prayer and that the song is originally by bon jovi
omg
cant be better than bon jovi you nerd.
check out jon singing it when he was the age of David.. he owns david without even trying
haaa nice a helicopter passes by at 2:38
and i love how he sings this
this is gonna sound really gay but he makes me cry when he sings
Jon bonjovi...💙💙💙💙❤❤❤
nope! david is a lefty!! just like hendrix and countless others! a little unusual but not unheard of!!!
Now that boy can SING!!! No autotune here!
@nebunule54
You converted me. He has a voice like velvet and strums the guitar like the touch of God.
nice job man! you've got a really good voice. The song is not easy to sing, and you bring it very good!
i cry so much during this;
i love david roland cook so much you cant imagine!
Mrs David Cook
@yokophoenix Yeah but Jon and Richie wrote it together...Back then this guy was barely born! ;-)
@uhkwtflol u know nothing about music, you only get stuck on one artist..shame on yourself.
you can tell he was thinking of his brother there as he ended getting slightly choked up.
it's very cool, but bon jovi did the same kind of redition before. check out prayer '94
Let's not get too crazy now. I love David Cook but he's no match for my Johnny!!
that's fine the thing is that not everyone can pull off a performance like this
OOOOHHH wouldn't Cook be a great opener for Bon Jovi's next tour?
damn right.
pfff si hubieras compuesta tu la canción igual te aplaudia, pero haces trampa chaval.
Lmao he stole some parts from Richie Sambora's Living on a Prayer in 2005. xD
his voice is way smoother than jovis. but this guy is simply amazing! respect!
he just publicly murdered the song.. its sick
yep! It usually means one is paying tribute to the original singer. ^_^
@xuberalles totally:) luv jovi n cook, that would make an awesome duet
Better than the original version. This song was meant for David Cook.
Love this this version of this song. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Watch this full screen and watch how he's scoping out his audience...
I was there! He also did My Hero by the Foo Fighters. It was so good.
What a voice, song, artist and not at least LIVE PERFORMANCE!!!!
what are the chords? or at least the 1st chord....
DAVID
Cook's a lefty? o_O, i knew Archie was, but Cook too? wow o_o
