I am impressed. There is no way to avoid 'steamy' in a wet jungle... but you can get your butt up out of the mud and keep the rain off yourself so that you aren't constantly soaked. Beautiful work! The nay-sayers and detractors are just jealous that you get to be there, doing that.
Pretty creative! In a survival situation emergency ponchos or any thin waterproof material would probably work. But I think how cool and fun it would be for kids to play in in the back yard. They can help build it (teaching moments) and then after I can still keep an eye on them when they are out playing! No matter what, I give the guy props for doing all that work in a torrential downpour!

There is a gap to open and close the roof. So no problem. Only issue I see is mosquito once they knew how to get it
