I live just east of Tulsa, in the rural part of the country. I've always known Don Williams and this song my whole life. But in my 20's, I heard a little band perform it in a little country bar near me. The only time I ever been in a bar in my life.
Nice! He was my gran's favourite male singer (after Johnny Cash) so I grew up hearing him, and I've always loved his voice (thanks gran, I too love both Johnny & Don) - Don's is so smooth, rich and warm (and surprisingly for a country singer without that super-southern "twanginess").
Went to one of his concerts back in the earlier 70s, he sat on a stool and sang his heart out just him another guitar player and a drummer, and yes he was cool
Don Williams served with my military unit before I did, the Army Security Agency, I have a picture of him from one of the guys of him in the barracks in Chitose, Japan with his guitar. Very young Williams. Good photo. This was a great line dance song.
I heard this song hundreds of times and never took the time to understand the overall lyrics to the song until watching this. I knew the first verse was about leaving out west from Tulsa. But I never paid attention to how the second verse ended with the message that there's no shame in going back. Lol
Senorita, Til the Rivers All Run Dry, We've Got a Good Fire Goin', Desperately, Something 'bout You, I Sing for Joy, Good Ole Boys Likes Me, If Hollywood Don't Need You Honey I Still Do, Love is on a Roll ... just to name a few!
Wow Harri I never thought how the beat is some what comparable to Billy Rae Cyrus. But I hear it too. You're so clever. Great reaction. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I don't know if he be recorded a bad song. "Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good") is my favorite. "I Believe In You" is another great song by him. Go down that rabbit hole. You won't be disappointed.
This song came out the year before I was born. I can remember it being played on country radio regularly as a kid. It was still a pretty popular song well into the 80s. Thanks for the reaction to this classic, I had kinda forgot about it.
My wife is from Malawi, and when she told me that her whole family loved Don Williams, I was floored. Being from the southern U.S., I knew it was a sign, and I don't believe in signs. It was actually a curious cultural overlap that makes more sense as you consider it, but that just lends to our strength. Anyway, Don is important to me lol
Harri, you are so right! I, of course, have been around long enough to know both of those songs and after you said that, I started singing Achy Breaky (or however they spelled it for that song) and it did go together well with the music!
You should have a listen to Eric Clapton's version of this song. It's best, In my opinion, on the "Just One Night" double album set. There are a lot of great songs there. Thanks
Can't go wrong with any song by Don Williams. ❤❤❤❤❤
I love this! I love Don Williams! Some Broken Hearts Never Mend is great. He has a great catalog! He was known as The Gentle Giant.
Don was my late father's favorite performer. RIP to both.
I think you're right about that Achy Breaky thing
Toe tapper for sure. The Gentle Giant is no misnomer
best version of this song, by far imo

My fave dance tune in the day

Love both the Clapton version and Don Williams version, both are well done and unique.

Don Williams was big in 70s, as Country went thru some changes with Outlaw Country by Waylon, etc
Love Don Williams! Classic Country is so good
I know I have heard Don Williams but I can’t remember which songs he did aside from this. In any case, I love it. 🌺✌️
So good man love the video and have been grooooving to this gem 💎
I can remember being in the kitchen dancing with my Dad. He was a big fan of Don Williams
Wow Harri I never thought how the beat is some what comparable to Billy Rae Cyrus. But I hear it too. You're so clever.
Great reaction. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Yeah, I hear it too. Harri nailed it!

"I Believe in You"...is one of his finest in my opinion. Hope you give it a listen
So glad I found you! Going to go binge watch now😊 Have a great one!
Eric Clapton does a great cover of this song.
Awesome. Reminds me of Mac Davis ‘Lubbock Texas in my rear view mirror’
I could listen to Don Williams all day long.
Don and Mac are from the same town in Texas.

Been a decades since I heard this. Thanks!
This is a major line dance song, second probably only to the electric slide
Love this tune harri but I believe in love is pure genius
"If Hollywood Don't Need You" is another song by Don Willias with a similar theme. Great reaction.
This is a favourite of mine by Don Williams just love it
This song was written by Danny Flowers , he is from my hometown Henderson, NC. He was a member of his band.
Many of us of a certain age have put in quite a few hours of line dancing time to this song! Glad you discovered it! BTW, I’m from Oklahoma!!!
Lord I hope this day is good is my favorite❤️
Grew up on him still love him to this day!
This song was in the jukebox in my after work hangout and after working till 11PM it's the second thing I did after I got a cold brew
Midwest has one speed thats slow (Tulsa time) and down here in TX we have one speed thats neutral. Lol
Don Wulliams mellow voice! Check out, I Believe in You.
When I heard this song for the first few times I thought Don was singing 'living on toast and wine'.
great song and great performer. I would also like to see you react to his version of I'll Never Be in Love Again and Some Broken Hearts Never Mend
Been a while since I heard this song but it's great. Good choice Best of it Movie and great reaction Harri ☮

Harry, please react to Vern Gosdin "Set 'em Up Joe" and also "Chiseled in Stone". I think you'll love him.
I believe Eric Clapton did a version of this song, too.
Yep and it's terrific.
@@John_Locke_108 I don't doubt it. Pretty much anything he gets ahold of has a chance of being great.
Legend! Now you gotta try some Merle Haggard!
You should have a listen to Eric Clapton's version of this song. It's best, In my opinion, on the "Just One Night" double album set. There are a lot of great songs there. Thanks
You’re referring to the song “Achy Breaky Heart”
Hey Harri, please react to "Rosanne Cash - Seven Year Ache (Official Video)" She's Johnny Cash's daughter.
While back he did a duet with Keith Urban and it's called how about that I think you really did that
he his wife Jubilee his sons Gary and Timmy were my neighbors
Wow, that's great
Check out his Amanda!
Don had extreme back pain and could barely stand ,generally he played from a stool ,standing occasionally.
Eric clapton does a great version of this
Good version, Clapton's better again.
In my book Billy Ray can hold a candle to Don Williams 👍
Not even in the same league.
Eric Clapton did it the Best
