I have absolutely loved his music most of my life. Just learned Bobby Mcgee. Great song. Borderlord too. God Bless you! Thanks for the music. It has been with & helped me get through those hard times...
Love his music as he is a great thinker and feels so much about what he writes. He is a philosophical gentleman. Hope his health holds up. Lovely interview! Pity he is older now.
This guy ages more than gracefully..his cool thing just never leaves even in age..lol country never knew what to do with this guy ..and maybe rock would have given him more of a stage presence but country was definitely needing this man ..and they were better for it
Rhodes scholar, Phi Beta Kappa, Oxford graduate, West Point wanted him to teach English Lit, helicopter pilot who landed on Johnny Cash's lawn to get a demo of a song to the Man in Black. His songs are profound, literate, and complicated. He changed Nashville.
he reminds me of ernest hemingway or jacques cousteau. they never really had a single life's direction, yet they did so many great things, and had so much ambition. he had a notable degree, he was a helicopter pilot, he was a teacher, he was in the war, he was a film maker, and he was a songwriter.
austenslost Kristofferson has a net worth of somewhere between 80 million and 166 million dollars, so why is he pretending he HAS to work to support his "8 kids"? LOL With that kind of money he can support many entire nations!. Ernest Hemingway is WAY overrated beyond all proportion. KK was a film-maker? What did he direct? I thought he was only an actor and singer-songwriter. His dad was an Air-Force General, so he already came from an elite military background just like Jim Morrison whose dad was not just any admiral but the admiral in charge of the fleet during the (faked) Gulf of Tonkin incident that brought the USA into the Vietnam war. According to the official story and who knows how much of it is true and how much fiction, Kris did not become "a janitor at CBS studios pitching songs to Johnny Cash" until he decided to become a musician against his dad's wishes and was consequently "disowned." But being an Oxford educated (Cecil Rhodes Scholarship, just like that douche Billy Bob Clinton) former English teacher in the army and helicopter pilot, I don't see how he could have struggled as long as hard as the legend goes. He struggled in his soul his whole life being shackled to an outmoded establishment way of doing thing but only for maybe 5 years max in the mid to late 1960s materially and then hit it HUGE with both Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin having gigantic hits with his songs. If he had the publishing royalties from just those two songs, he would have never had to work again and could have retired right then and there. MANY famous musicians had direct ties to the military-industrial complex, not just Morrison, KK and Stephen Stills. There is some very interesting research on this by Dave McGowan in the book "Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon"
@@metamorphosis67 hey metamorphosis...how bout "changing" your little puke attitude and appreciate someone who's had an impact on people, especially other songwriters. And can you admit things goofball..!?...not many people have been as accomplished as Kristofferson ...and as versatile.
Well his song writing is a legacy no one can disagree with an absolute outstanding writer his songs will never be outdated stand the test of time for eternity brilliant man in every way
