*ABOUT THE CONFIGURATION* As I'm guessing right now, at this moment, config is optional and sometimes required, if your game is already a ps2 classic (Like most GTA games), leave it with the config the program recommends, if the program recommends just CONFIG (literally), check the compatibility list's notes on the game and use the appropiate configuration name, and if the list says nothing (and it's playable), cancel the configuration process, and the packaging will start anyway without configuration.

Just wanna say thanks. I watched a bunch of your videos today and accomplished everything I was hoping to do with the PS3 I picked up yesterday. Got PS3HEN installed, installed multiMAN, was able to transfer a backup game from my computer to the PS3 via FTP and also install a backup PS2 game off a USB drive. Great stuff, cheers.

Worked like a charm on my PS3 Super Slim with this method. I tried Freedom Fighters and I've been playing it for 2 hours with no glitches or framedrops or anything.

2023 firmware HEN ver: 9.0.1 still works perfect, i think this is the best way how to play ps2 games on your ps3, there are too many ways how to play but this is rly perfect :) thx man
I've had this issue as well The only solution I found is to change the video output source. I'm not sure why it does that but I think some games are possibly trying to run at 50 hertz@@memoromero4150
I dis this back about a year ago, it is truly amazing! Ever since I got a fat PS2 however, I prefer to run my backups on the respective console. Gonna need all the disk space to back up all PS3 games I remember running Sly 1 and NFS: Most Wanted PAL just fine on PS3
Whenever I try to do the “MAKE PKG” everything goes well, but my file name just says “CONFIGURE” nothing more, no letters or numbers... and so I just overwrite a file but still doesn’t work. Need help

@Yakuza Series: Official Generation Fat32 Usb has a 4GB cap file size limit. You would need to use a tool like ISO splitter to split the iso in half to fit on the USB. 2nd method this is much easier If you already have Multi Man set up on your ps3 and have a PC/Laptop just follow MrMario's tutorial On FTP ua-cam.com/video/YkHL3KwF_4E/v-deo.html
There actually is a way to run ps2 games from the USB drive,but I haven't used it in awhile.You can encrypt iso's through multiman and launch them through the classics launcher without installing the game.
You can put them on the USB drive once they are encrypted,and launch them from the classics launcher by mounting it with webman.Atleast,that's how I remember doing it.

I've been working on this for a few days now and im stuck so im coming here since you always seem to be of help and I can not appreciate it enough. Ive got a super slim running HEN 3.0.2. Been trying to get my ps2 games to work on here but its not doing too well. Even attempted a PSP game and that didnt work either and its getting frustrating. The games will crash my ps3 on load and trying to launch into the psp or ps2 games launcher wont work. Installing the PKG files wont work either.
When I check the ps2 backwards compatibility list, and it says a config dramatically helps the performance of the game, what exactly does that mean? And how would I go about using a config to help improve the game’s performance?
You can see when he's messing with the ps2 classics gui on his computer it looks for a config file out of a large pool of them that best fits the game.
It's because it's using a PS2 emulator, like an emulator on PC, configuration can drasticly change how the game behave. And the app contains configuration for ps2 if I understand this correctly.

@@joobakins you need the NFTS app too so u can use the USB with more then 4gb. U hold X on that app before opening irisman. and then u click mount to xmb on the file manager in irisman
Probably none of them. If you've checked in the CUSTOM, GX, NET and SOFT directories and not found a match then just cancel the file requester and PS2 Classics GUI will continue. CONFIG files correct specific problems by controlling emulator features and sometimes patching games, they're not always required, some games just work.

I think making them into seperate pkgs for each disc would work best because then it will read as seperate games that you can still play, if you merge them together then it would probably become an unreadable mess

You probaly have in hands a bad mounted iso, basically, the iso probably doesn't have the file with this name inside it. This "SLUS..." Files are basically executables for ps2 games (like .exe for windows). The suggestion to solve your problem will always be one of these three: remount your iso (search on youtube), redo the backup of your disc paying attention to the process or download it for another place (i personally recommend look into reddit r/roms MEGATHREAD.
Honestly one of the greatest guy in the console modding scene. One question though I tried following all the steps but I have trouble the config file for when I tried making my pkg it didn't populate anything. SLUS 21293 (METAL SAGA is the game I'm trying to play) sharing this to my friends

That won't be happening, and that's not playing from disc, that's still ripping. PS3HEN will only play PS2 games as encrypted.

you can press cancel, you don't have to use a config file. If that still doesn't work, try using another PC
I did everything, but as soon as I pressed it to play the game, the whole screen went blank but the lights on the system still were on
When I use the ISO.BIN.ENC to create a package it doesnt give me a config so i go to custom config and select one does it matter which one i select?

Always remember the older Grand Theft Auto games having crazy framerate issues especially when you turn a corner when you're driving
Hi! Your video is so explanatory and clear, so I wanna thank you for that! I have a question, I've been trying to install Ratatouille (PS2) using this method and there isn't a config file for it and I think that's the reason why it won't launch on my PS3. Is there a workaround this? Thank you!
try using SLUS_203.83.CONFIG
7:40 once it takes me to this page the autopopulated file name in the box is just CONFIG and doesnt work

You probaly have in hands a bad mounted iso, basically, the iso probably doesn't have the file with this name inside it. This "SLUS..." Files are basically executables for ps2 games (like .exe for windows).
The suggestion to solve your problem will always be one of these three: remount your iso (search on youtube), redo the backup of your disc paying attention to the process or download it for another place (i personally recommend look into reddit r/roms MEGATHREAD.

Honestly one of the greatest guy in the console modding scene. One question though I tried following all the steps but I have trouble the config file for when I tried making my pkg it didn't populate anything. SLUS 21293 (METAL SAGA is the game I'm trying to play) sharing this to my friends

Got the PKG to install ok, but when I run it the HDMI out stops and the controller disconnects. any ideas? I saw someone reporting the same on Reddit, but no helpful suggestions there...
