Just recently I got that same DVD set as a gift from my best friend, who also loves classic comic book heroes. I was already living here in Germany by 1990, so never got the chance to see the show's first run, but I'm really enjoying it right now!
In some ways the modern Flash series was sometimes a bit overwhelming for me. Anyway I stopped after S3 because another close friend I'd regularly watched it with passed away after a brief illness. I haven't picked it up again yet because it's still too painful for me.
However the 1990 show doesn't have that emotional connection for me, and it's a very enjoyable watch. It's very much like the other superhero shows I grew up with, so the writing and production values don't bother me at all. In fact, they bring on nostalgia!
My favourite guest character is Nightshade, who is like The Green Hornet and The Shadow, both of whom I loved. Obviously the writers of the 1990 show did as well! It's too bad the show got cancelled after just one season. I think that with more time it would have really found its feet and become great.

mine did fam, i was like dang, when i watch it, i'll skip disc 2, the other 5 discs works with no problem.
