No, has much more to do with the larger lure and ability to effectively troll on heavier tackle up to 15 knots. Not to mention the DTX 220 is a wahoo killing machine! Great video Captain. Thanks for sharing the knowledge as always. My concern is what to do when you get hit and have 4-6 lines out? Do you bring them all in to avoid getting tangled?
No, not unless something is crossed/tangled, we leave out and keep forward momentum to keep everything straight and dialed in...Please follow me @FloridaSportFishingTV
Depends on conditions, for grouper in 25-35 ft over patch reefs, 4 knots, for wahoo/kings, 6-8 knots. Thanks again for watching and please join my new streaming channel with 300+ instructional videos and no UA-cam ads at www.FSFTV.com. Use coupon code BAITFISH - save 50%. - Capt Mike
Do you have a video on how to make a daisy chain? I have an extra spool for my two reels. How would you spool them if I wanted to troll for grouper and kings? I heard that grouper is best to use braid with a leader and for kings use straight mono but I have also heard that it is better to top shot braid for kings. King fishing is coming soon. I want to be ready! Thank you!
Hi Jim and thanks for watching. Yes, I have videos on rigging trolling lures at ww.FSFTV.com. Braid is the standard for grouper since youre generally fishing around structure. Mono on the other hand is a better bet for kings with their screaming runs and always the chance to hook acrobatic fish like sailfish/dolphin where the stretch is a benefit. Hey Captain! Big fan of your videos! I have a question. I went fishing this weekend, tried 2 Rapala X-raps magnums for the first time (30 and 40). I don't know what we did wrong, but they don't seem to go very deep. Even the 24 oz weights with skirted lures went deeper than the X-raps, and i know the skirts don't go that deep. We trolled between 5 and 8.5 knots, played with the line length, don't even think they went 10 feet below. How do you set them up to make sure they do what they are supposed to?
Excuse me Captain, on something totally different what do you think your fuel burn is when you're just cruising around 3500 RPM? Thank you so very much like your videos very much thank you
Maybe I missed it but what do you recommend as a bait for your shotgun line?. I've always used a brined bonita belly strip with a squid skirt/ seawitch combo in green/yellow/white
I’m clueless on this, this is probably a stupid question. But do you just toss your lures in the water, you don’t really cast? I’ve never fished in ocean, not much at all really.
Just getting into fishing and you make it look so easy. My local stores make it so complicated for a beginner.
Me and kids all love this show. So educational. Great job Captains Mike and Carlos.
Thank you for being a fan. - Capt Mike
We don’t get dolphin here on Lake Michigan in wi but always cool to watch other trolling videos for other fish.
Good info well relayed. Cheers Mike
That is an amazing spread that u have going on there I’m surprised u didn’t catch more than that one
Thanks for sharing another great video. Love learning from you guys. Any idea where I could buy that rainbow colored daisy chain?
How far from the boat, yards/feet/meters, do you set your different positions?
Is the treble hook the reason you switched from Rapala to nomad deep diving lures? I love the dtx 220 lrc you recommend in your wahoo seminar

On the rapala how much line are you letting out. Is it more of a guess. I got the 30 and troll at around 5.

Were you fishing braid or mono? 50 lb. braid will get them as deep as possible, do not expect more than 10-15 ft. - Capt Mike
Thanks Captain. We were fishing mono, not sure what size. Will try with braid next time.

on the new SeaVee 390Z, at 3500 RPM, just under 1 to 1. - Capt Mike

Thats an excellent choice, I like artificial in that position, simply set it and forget it until it starts singing. - Capt Mike
Nice video, congrats

just drop em and the boat lets em flow back
How fast are you trolling here?
Drew Kenning I think he said 7 knots
Speed varies based on conditions and faster with artificial lures and slower with rigged natural baits, 6-10 knots. - Capt Mike
Those fishes just got trolled!!!
I hate when the first thing I hear is I have a blah blah boat and motor. No one cares.
first
Check the time
