For fun, and since this is Saturday, I decided to see what's changed since this was shot almost a year ago. 0:43 - Metro PCS is gone. Space is empty now. 1:11 - Charlotte Russe is gone. New York and Company's there now. 2:00 - Empty space to the left is now a candy store: Candy World 2:45 - Empty Lush space (they moved) is now a VR place; VR Fun Place 4:08 - Empty store to the left was converted to a Family Restroom 4:30 - Empty store to the right is a Plus Size retailer; Soft Surroundings 4:31 - Space upstairs is a Verizon Wireless store 5:06 - Empty store to the left is a Perfume Store 5:07 - Empty Kiko's is now the Leggings Store from elsewhere in the mall; It's All Leggings 5:10 - Whatever Rolling Cow is, it's not there anymore 5:37 - The empty store by Vera Bradley is still empty 6:01 - Sunglasses Hut moved upstairs. Space is empty now 7:45 - Zumies moved upstairs. This is now a clothing retailer called Shape Up 9:13 - Who is Jenny and why does she have two spas!? 9:36 - Empty store to the left is H&M 12:40 - Bali is gone. Replaced by Aerie. 14:05 - Gymboree is closed. Now a Seasonal Christmas Store 14:13 - It's All Leggings moved. Candy store Sweet Galaxy is here, now. 16:03 - Build-a-Bear moved into a Kiosk. Now this store is a sports store: Team Spirit 16:16 - Store to the right is ... a Karaoke Bar? 16:41 - Panda Express is now China Wok
I remember thinking this same thing when researching this mall. We have a mall near us, Willow Grove Park, that was a similar scenario, a long standing amusement park of 80+ years, only to be replaced by a shopping mall later on.
I LIKE THIS MALL🤗open airy bright modern vibe.Doe's the big ball fountain ball rotate from the water?🙇♂️?couldn't tell in video.Love the weird modern light fixtures.👌
Sadly, freehold raceway mall recently removed there fountain. It was identical to the one in this mall. There is a video somewhere on UA-cam of them removing it.
I was wondering when someone would notice that guy! I noticed him and his buddy as well and he sent his buddy to talk to me about why I was filming, you can see it at 18:11. I cut the video so the confrontation was not in the shot, there is a transition there instead, but security was hot on their heels so it seemed very funny to me.
@@RawRealRetail Oh wow, that's crazy. I was here thinking I made a random observation yet there was a story behind it. I saw Heather walking towards the camera at your 18:05ish mark but didn't think that something had happened. How often do passerby confront you guys about your filming? And I'm surprised the blart in the food court on the segway right after didn't say anything when you walked past her.
I often went to The Wall during the mid-1990s to buy CDs. They would allow you to open a CD and go to a player station with headphones to listen to the album. That saved me a lot of money by buying single CDs instead of entire albums with one or two good songs and the rest with filler songs.
I want to like this mall, but I don’t. Such beauty in the architecture of the inner ceilings. What could be excellence however, is totally lost in a sea of white. It just doesn’t work. Even the really nice light fixtures kind of fade away. With the floors also white the entire place is rather hard on one’s eyes. As well, you can’t rise to grandeur by shrinking. Remodeling the food court to fewer eating choices makes little sense to me. This mall could be awesome but not in its current state. Thankfully it’s anchors are all full however I’m not sure how long that will be. Both Sears and Lord & Taylor are riding a slippery slope at the moment. Finally it does not have much competition so it should prosper in the near term. I expect Boscov’s would love a space in this place. They may get one. Anyway I expect this mall will weather any storm and is doing just fine.
Raw & Real Retail Wow. Holly green. It’s like one extreme to another. Comparing the two designs I’d have to go with the white. Can’t believe I’m saying this.
I'm over 6 minutes into viewing this video and I was thinking to myself, why didn't they paint the walls a pastel or a vivid colour? It would make the mall look nicer and more inviting.
I was also thinking to myself, if they want to leave some of it white, go ahead, but at least paint the squares any type of colour. It would definitely make a difference with the ambiance.
A very quick opening of the Doobly-Doo underneath the video will show the filming date, these are provided for every video so these kinds of gaffes don't happen, yet they still do...
The fountain with the sphere is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about it so much.
Would love to see some Danbury Fair Mall footage from the '80s, when this place was really hopping. It's all but unrecognizable now.
You and me both!
Raw & Real Retail It pretty much looked like my local closed mall Charlestowne so that is one way sorta but I would have loved to see exactly.
the place still gets packed pre pandemic i went to this mall alot in the 90's and still remember the gross smell from the food court
All the ironwork was light green not white
@@scottbanks6676 That was from the fountain.
Very bright mall. Cool music selection for the mall atmosphere. Thanks RRR.

Great video, and I love the music you choose for these.
Thanks so much! The music is an integral part of what we are trying to do here.
The loss of culture going from the great Danbury Fair to this forgettable mall was/is staggering.
I wish the actual fair could have stayed here. I have good memories of this mall growing up, but i wish i could have seen the fair.
I remember thinking this same thing when researching this mall. We have a mall near us, Willow Grove Park, that was a similar scenario, a long standing amusement park of 80+ years, only to be replaced by a shopping mall later on.

The ball is stationary, the water comes out the top and rolls down the sides.
Danbury changed 😕 it had such a fun vibe 10-12 years ago.
18:12 looks like an acid trip lmao
Sadly, freehold raceway mall recently removed there fountain. It was identical to the one in this mall. There is a video somewhere on UA-cam of them removing it.
I love the music and I live in Danberry
Wow a mall with an open Sears! That's rare nowadays.
It's pretty old footage.
Not for long. This Sears is closing in February 2020.
It's being replaced by Round 1.
Why did you skip the Williams Sonoma?!
Williams Sonoma to the left at 12:40
A lot of these stores have been the same for decades. Amazing.
Lol the guy with the cap on at 15:58 has looked directly at the camera twice in this video (first time was 4:35). What are the chances of that...

@@SLone3251 Fortunately not often. Our equipment, the DJI Pocket makes that very easy!
This is Shimmer and Shine in Woodbury, CT from January 25, 2013.
No it’s the Danbury mall😂
I remember the old water fountain. It smelled like eggs.
i ran into that fountain as a toddler lol. I also remember that weird fried fish smell from the food court
Sears permanently closed at the mall in February 2020 and Lord & Taylor is also set to close due to the company's recent bankruptcy.
I’ve heard my uncle used to work there
This mall definitely reminds me of freehold mall. It’s just built a little different that’s all
Looks a lot like the old Charlestowne mall and the thriving freehold raceway mall
def looks like freehold the interior
I never noticed that even after I visited both malls. Only after watching the videos did it really sink in how similar these two places really are.
@@RawRealRetail both malls were built by the same company around the same time
In the mid 1990's, it had four record stores.

Most malls with an Apple Store are thriving
I can't disagree with this point. Apple is picky with where they put their stores.
Not so much Northbrook Court in Northbrook,Il.is starting to show signs of a dead mall.
Do Centerville mall ga
That does sound pretty nice, it's going on the list!
Shit look like the freehold raceway mall tf
Those two were designed by the same people and are sister malls.
@@RawRealRetail wow that’s actually quite interesting I didn’t know that 😂🔥

You really should look up pictures of the mall pre-renovations.
Raw & Real Retail Wow. Holly green. It’s like one extreme to another. Comparing the two designs I’d have to go with the white. Can’t believe I’m saying this.
But after the green it was brown trim and poles. That atleast enhanced the look. Then thry took that and white out everything. Big mistake
before the mall was renovated it was covered in tan and brown tiles everywhere and lots of green
More like BLANDbury Fair. Very underwhelming mall.
I thought the same thing. It's rather sad, because older pictures do exist of this mall, and it was quite the striking place before it was whitened.
Raw & Real Retail you could find basically a video of what it used to look like by looking at Charlestowne mall videos.

Sounds like Charlie's Angels music, lmao.
That's awesome!
