ProClip Install 2019 VW Golf R - iPhone Mount

- I finally got around to installing a ProClip phone mount into my 2019 Golf R. You have to buy two parts: The vehicle specific mount, and then the phone specific holder. Here are the parts I installed:

As you can see, the install is pretty simple, and this is probably one of the best setups out there. They have mounts for a ton of vehicles, and likely most phones.

Best mount I've ever owned. Came back for a refresher on how I installed it the first time as the technician who changed the recirculation flap motor on my '16 GTI did not put it back on properly. Thanks!
I ran the charger up under the little door to the cubby then out under the panel on the right side. That way I can close the door finally. Eventually plan on getting wireless CarPlay

so I own this very same setup...and i have to say it definately serves its purpose where its positioned.
Unfortunately.....the mounting position takes your line of sight away from the road for quick glances and in todays driving world...THAT can be very dangerous! It be nice if they created something with a higher line of sight.
They do have higher mounts. I use Car Play, so I don’t look at the phone. I use the display on the dash.

Nice install. It's very easy to hide these wires and make this hard wired. With those mods this becomes a must mod for any golf.

yes a little, if your a big guy for sure. It works on a MK 7.5 as well.

I have a proclip in my 7.5 R as well, elected to get the one that mounts on the left air vent up by the window. expensive, but it's an excellent investment

Can this mount work for a RHD UK GolfMk 7, with an IPhone 12 pro max, as you show a LHD car on your video.
Not sure why people would ever drive this car in automatic.

Will it fit iPhone 11 Pro Max with OtterBox defender case?
They have very specific holders for different models of iPhone- most adjust for only 1 phone. Make sure you read carefully and measure. The mount is great, what I needed for a Highlander which has a curvy dash - difficult for standard mounts. Also, if my wife wanted to drive my car, she would be able to use the iPhone 12 mount. But their products are of very high quality.

How does it hold up over time and bumpy rides?
I’ve had zero issues. I recently took off the universal mount and stuck a wireless charger on it.
