What a fantastic film of an amazing journey!! I watched it twice....made me wish I was able to do such a trip myself....but time has run out ....this made up for that in many ways!!!! Thanks, David Minchin
Congratulations on safely completing this journey replete with danger. Great commitment to filming when there were already so many challenges at hand. Sound planning and well executed fellows
I can only salute you. What an incredible adventure! A strong back helped. Your grit and determination and wealth of knowledge was inspiring for this old man. Having been on the lower reaches of the Franklin myself was inspirational. 👍🇦🇺
Matt, I'm 7 min into the film and wow. This is not a pro-150k AUD production film and I think it would deserve to be screened at adventure film festivals. The images really show what TAS's best scenary has to offer (ok the E&W Arthurs are amazing as well) and at the same time not many people should see it to avoid a flock of tourists coming to under downunder's S-west.
Thanks Louis-Philippe, I do have a shorter 15 min version that has done the rounds through some screenings but so far none of the other places I've submitted it to have jumped (perhaps because it is on UA-cam). Anyway thanks for the comment and appreciation - I know you know how tough this country can be. Apologies for the delay replying; John and I just returned from a 3 week trip through a different part of the Southwest
So glad I found your film online Matt. First saw it at the LWC went in 2021 and was completely captivated! And what an incredible effort by your son David… there would be few people of his age who would have embarked on such a long and challenging adventure.
Thanks Ben, glad you liked. It was such an awesome adventure with so many memories. The LWC version was a shortened one - I've been tempted to post it but I'm not sure if Ian has finished playing it. All the best
I’ve watched before but watched again tonight with the family thoroughly enjoyed kept my 4 boys Interest, an outstanding achievement can I ask what models of packrafts were you using on this trip?
Glad you enjoyed. We are using Alpacka rafts. The red and blue one is a Gnarwhal and the Green an older classic. Both self bailers (the green one is a conversion from a decked boat). They sustained a lot pin holes and floor damage from all the wood in the river but held up well with patches and aqua seal on the journey and then thorough repairs after.
@@Irenabyss awesome thanks for the info they must be strong to withstand those areas I’ve been looking at the Alpaca Ranger it’s a big one but I can carry all my prospecting tools etc but the down side is the weight and manoeuvre if I do decide to do white water and longer hiking trips into areas like the Jane. Thanks again
outstanding achievement lads and great video.
Absolutely awesome well done 😎👍👍
It is still one of our most memorably favourite trips. Thanks for looking and glad you enjoyed.
