just want to say as pre service teacher still doing my degree at university, i love your videos. They explain everything so well give so much information and your nature in general as a person is exactly who i want to be as a teacher so thank you
Susan, Thanks for clarifying where you are exactly with HMH. I initially thought you had deep work going with that. I feel like our school district is behind while we’re just getting accustomed to HMH Journeys, yes a boxed curriculum that we’ve been able to provide district wide. However, it is reaffirming to hear the importance of preparing teachers to be skilled and knowledgeable with SOR regardless of whatever resources are being used. Stay warm, stay safe, and kudos for all that you do and share to us.
For HMH every Friday we do the selection quizzes. When we finish a module we take the module assessment. It has two separate stories for students to read and a total of 10 questions.
I’m from Brooklyn,Newyork. My daughter’s school follows the same HMH curriculum. As a parent , it looks interesting to me because you could also do reading activities with your child by logging in the app. You could check your child’s performance as well.
Good morning!! Wondering if you still have time to do your small groups. If yes, did you group them any differently now that you’re piloting these curriculums? What are you focusing on in the small groups? So hard to fit everything in within a day!
Quick question/looking for your opinion. I think in the past you did writing that was similar to Lucy C...narrative, how-to, etc. My district is still doing TC Writing units BUT I have found that kids in 1st aren't really ready yet for that as they really need a lot of practice just with sentences (I did 2 weeks with your How to Write a Sentence). It seems like HMH is bringing writing back to basic sentences around a prompt. Do you think this is "enough" for the kids? Do you still incorporate the "longer" genre-type writing or since you're in HMH now, you are doing just what they say (since not enough hours in the day for it all!)
Great video, Susan! I have been a member of the math club for awhile and I'm having a hard time finding the comparing numbers pages you were talking about such as the Mix, Order, Make sheet. I put the name of the page in your search bar and it doesn't come up with anything. I'm sure there is a logical place to find it, I'm just not able to locate it.
Well Susan, Let's start with the positive. You look beautiful in your outfits in this video. You should do a 'Fit Check so to speak. Now, what the legislature is actually trying to do is set teachers up for student pushback. Basically what I am trying to say is this. Good luck with the new curriculum. I hope that it goes over well with the students. With that said, let's end with a positive. Happy Upcoming Thanksgiving !!! - Dwight

I love IXL. Glad they added where you can schedule the quizzes.
I want to a sound bath last Sunday too! I loved it- so magical and relaxing.

HI Susan! Thanks so much for sharing! I love your videos! Can you share your daily schedule?
Thank you for always sharing great information and ideas!!! Did I miss you sharing the cute turkey project you have hanging in your classroom?
I think he loved the trampoline. A lot of parks have little trampolines now. It looks like the letters a first grade student uses for trampoline.
Math is not easy to teach ,however with so many activities you are sharing seems easy. 😊👍
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your sweet family!

Do you plan on having any Black Friday sales on your TPT store?
Fantastic video! 👏Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃❤️🍁🍂
Can you share what Heggerty Hedgehog is? I noticed it on your dry erase board. :)
Also how much time do you spend on foundational skills and reading comprehension skills...or what used to be considered reader's workshop?
Can you share the activities you have hanging? You had cute spiders and the turkeys look cute!!
Did HMH provide you with slides for the vocabulary words and read aloud? We don’t have access to that! We just have structured literacy slides.
