why would anyone give this talented young guy a thumbs down??? crazy people in this world! nice to see a young fellow crafting when so many are lazy and sit and play video games all day! ...this is an absolutely stunning knife!!!!
It is truly incredible to be able to watch some of your past videos and realize how much you have matured as a craftsman! The work you exhibited in this video is absolutely phenomenal. Kudos! keep up the good work
I have been a life-long fan of being mindful when paying attention to whatever task one is engaged in. I have admired and envied the craftsmanship of Japanese wood-workers and knife makers. You have earned my greatest respect for attention to details and for achieving outstanding results. I am deeply impressed. When I hit the lottery I'm going to chase you down for some custom work! Every component is stunning in design and execution. For the first time in a long time I am awe inspired! Love the shop, the sander and your endurance. I am humbled, a bit jealous, and wish you happiness in pursuit of your passion. The knives I have seen you make are multi-generation treasures that hopefully motivate users to master their knife skills and to respect the bladesmith by honoring the blade. Best wishes for continued success.
Hey, man. Just a little tip that I thought I'd share with you; I get some incredible results with coffee darkening by letting it soak in the strong coffee for 24 hours. After I soak it I take the blade and go straight into boiling water for 15 minutes, without wiping off any of the oxides before hand. I get jet black finishes that are super durable that way. For some reason, at least in my experience, applying a consistent heat makes the black oxide even more durable. So you can use kydex sheaths instead of leather without having to worry about scratching. I hope this information helps! Beautiful knife btw!
This is beautiful work man, you can tell you really care about making it the best you can. The reason why a good quality knife can easily run you 300$+, major difference between this and the 60$ factory pumped garbage in the outdoor section of Walmart. Thank you for that drill bit tip to avoid deflection.
A very beautiful knife! Just a thought - the damascus is also in the metal hidden inside the handle. If a handle is made with a slit in the side, it will also be possible to see this damascus. A transparent handle, cast in epoxy, will be ideal to see the 'hidden damascus.' Just a thought.
What makes the folding of the metal paterns come to life? is it the polishing? or a quemical treatment? and if is the polishing, after wich grain the patterns starts to show up?
does the shape of the wooden part of the handle have a name? I like that style and should I ever get a hand made knife I would like to be able to ask for that.

That was beautiful. Pretty cool seeing you use tricks that Kyle Royer uses. To say he does amazing work also is an understatement.
Truly amazing build! Very nice sir!
Beautiful knife. Love how you use coffee to accentuate the Damascus pattern.
Nothing better than Iron wood I love it
Thank you so much for not stabilizing the wood! Wax and oil is what the wood wants. Well done !

Ein absolutes Kunstwerk!! 👍👍
Speechless!

Andre Pienaar thanks - yeah that would be possible.
About how much would I be expecting to spend in equipment and tools to start forging blades like this?

does the shape of the wooden part of the handle have a name? I like that style and should I ever get a hand made knife I would like to be able to ask for that.
I’m sure it has a name, but I don’t know what it is called sorry
Please, tell me-how much Time does it take to make this beauty??
Very nice
You did the excellent work, I like every pattern after etching, very smooth. Good job, bro.
This is too good .nice work Joe .hay Joe will you make this knife for me please will you post for me please.
does instant coffee do anything regular drip coffee would not? Why Instant coffee specifically?
I actually don’t know, but I think it is because you can make very strong Solutions with instant coffee
Great job ... 👏👏
Albert BM
thanks
I have a question. Why you put it in the coffee?what’s the coffee used for?
To darken the 1095 in the Damascus. The dark accents get even darker from the coffee
Well done
Can I ask you?
Why did you do the guard on this knife?
Is it realy necessary?
I like the look. And it’s more comfortable
