Sorry to jump on you every other video 😁. That is a new vehicle, but it is ok as a practice to start claying from the top and ending on bottom of the panel. A good idea is to have 2 pieces of clay, one for the top part and the other for the very bottom to avoid bringing contaminants from the bottom up.
@@DriveProtected It is not that easy. You can pick up ferrous particles that fly from the wheels when braking that are quite invisible on the clay, but will marr the paint, especially the soft ones. I know that PPF can cover these kind of defects.. but still
Love the video but I have a question. Would you not suggest polishing after claying a vehicle? I’m under the impression that using a clay bar scratches your car no matter what, at the cost of pulling out fine contaminants. So if the clay bar comes out, the polishing machine always follows? Or no
You mentioned post heat… what does that look like? Also, after waiting a couple hours do you just roll the edges (I’m assuming no need for more tack at that point)?
My post heating consists of taking a heat gun and a rag and going over all of my edges to ensure they are stuck down. If I am in a pinch, I will definitely use tack solution, flush out the edges, then wrap them and follow up with a heat gun.
Did you go thru any formal ppf training? If so who did you use? I noticed on some of your large pieces, you don't necessarily flush out your slip with tack except on some edges/corners. Is squeegee'ing alone good enough for adhesion once it sits for a while?
Yes, I took my training at XPEL in Texas. I did both the introduction and advanced training. The whole reasoning behind only using tack solution at edges/corners is cause that's the only place where it is needed. The slip solution only stays slippery for a short amount of time before it starts to dry out and the adhesive behind the film becomes activated. I hope this makes sense!
Question what brand of squeegee are u using in this video ? And also was it pure alcohol on panel prep..90 and was it alcohol on the tacking or the warm water, and can i warm my disittilled water dont have filterd water and last but not least i saw that your stream on the spray botttle looks like straight stream and not open fan spray i just notice that im i correct about that? I see alot of people using the pink squeegees send link on the ones you use and sorrry if its somewhere in your videos already im trying to catch up..with your videos...thanks eric!
@DriveProtected I'm sorry I'm having a little rough time trying to install the ppf film I'm working with I notice it gets pretty sticky with the baby shampoo and I think im going to try gel am getting better but I need to slide the ppf into postion and every time I spray down the panel completely with baby slip it gets stuck against the panel and I can move into place...I have these precut pieces from Amazon I brought and it's pretty good but it's a china brand 8.5 thick tpu whatever that stands for but yeah I just wanted to know the squeegee brand and if you used pure alcohol in the panel prep..lmk if u could call me 815-207-9012 my name is tony
Do you not have to paint correct panels before PPF over them? I would assume that you would be able to see swirls under the PPF or does the PPF hide them
Paint correction is always a good idea as it will help lock in that perfected panel. That being said, PPF will hide a ton of scratches so it’s not necessary to do.
I'm a detailer and this is one of the best PPF install videos I've seen, great stuff.
Thank you for the kind words!!
I am detailer and recently got a trainig for ppf installation.I found your videos very helpful. Thanks for all your videos.
Glad you find value in our videos!
Wow, great video and tutorial. You handle it methodically and areas that are trouble spots are easy peasy! Nice work!

Great video! These install tutorials are very helpful in solidifying techniques.
Thanks for watching!!

I think you're overthinking it with the clay bar. Start top and finish at the bottom. Once it gets full of junk, get a new one.

Great video and awesome job. Can you do a video of what type of machine you use to pre-cut your PPF and what program. Thanks
Thank you! I try to stay away from showing what film/software we use as its not relevant to the process of installing PPF.

Honestly, I’d dab in just a tiny amount of touch up paint in it and be done. Not worth removing and replacing the panel if it’s not super visible.
Another awesome video. thanks Eric
Thanks Dennis! 🙏🙏🙏
Can you show the door install? How did you remove the handles? Doing a full matte ppf on mine in a few days
I didn’t remove the door handles. The pattern allowed for almost perfect coverage

Hi on a bulk install of a 21 Raptor hood would you remove the hood vent or leave it in and trim around it after you stretched it out?
Personally I’d remove if you can. It’ll just make your install that much easier and it will be a cleaner looking installation too!

Did that panel come precut to the shape of the fender? Or is that something you did in house?
Yes. All panels come pre-cut in house.

@@DriveProtected does ppf hid rock chips that have been touch up or at least make it less noticeable ?
Thank you

What squeegee are ya using?
Pink squeegee. Available on our site www.DriveProtected.shop
clay bar? Did i hear it right?
Thats correct! Clay bar the panel to remove any embedded contaminants from the painted surface.
What IS tack solution?
Tack solution is the solution needed to lock the film in place.
@@DriveProtected well I got that…but is it some sort of glue or chemical activator?
Its isopropyl alcohol and water. The alcohol dries out the adhesive and allows it to stick faster.
Why aren’t you removing the F-150
Not worth the hassle.
