After SirenCon, we went down to Iowa to pick Dylan up and bring him with us for a few tests. We decided on New Hampton's 10/12 Allertor for the first Monday since it's fairly close to Dylan's neck of the woods and we also got word that it was slated for replacement later this year. I went for a more distant shot to hopefully capture more echoes, but unfortunately, I didn't notice the power line in my shot until I reviewed the footage later, but at least it doesn't obstruct the siren too much. On the bright side, I did indeed capture some pretty sweet echoes, so hopefully that makes up for the wire in the shot. I really wish they still did attack though.
While this was nowhere near as loud as the one in Cedar Falls, it was still pretty damn loud. Hell, I'd still put it about on par with a 9/12 Allertor to my ears. My meter got up to 119.7 dBC and Tommy's hit 118.3 dBA, which is still impressive for what is probably the quietest of the 10/12 Allertors.
As you can probably tell, the rotator is almost completely done at this point. When it wound up and stayed in the same spot for a while, we thought it had actually given out, but after nearly half the test had passed, it finally managed to get past the rough spot and make a rotation before getting stuck again. It only managed to make 2 rotations during the whole test, which is definitely the worst it's been. It was definitely fun standing directly in front of the horn and getting blasted though. Enjoy!

It is great to see what could be possibly one of the last few videos done of this 1969 Allertor.
I'm sure gonna miss this siren after it gets replaced. It sounded so cool and eerie in attack back then.
somebodys gonna acquire it once it does i think
R.I.P. Rotator.
Wow NICE Video! To bad this thing is getting replaced. It seems that the rotator is just slipping and could easily and cheaply be fixed! But it’s getting replaced anyhow sadly!
Nice to finally have a recording of this with good audio. Too bad the rotator crapped out though.
This particular ol' girl always caught my eye back when I used to drive through New Hampton years and years ago. Such a cool, ominous look. At some point I ended up going through a brief siren phase and was able to ascertain what it was. [Not that I ever became disinterested in sirens, but it wasn't a hobby I could reasonably get my hands on, so it became more of a casual enthusiasm]
Tonight I found myself stumbling through UA-cam watching mostly car videos when the Chrysler siren popped up.. it got me wondering if this particular siren was still up and running. I thought I'd have to go for a long drive to get an answer, but as luck would have it, here she is on video, and just a few months ago. It's a bit sad to hear that she's scheduled to be replaced (if not already), but I'm thrilled that others found and appreciated her as I did.

Too bad this is getting replaced. I remember watching a video of this doing attack a while ago (also when the rotator worked a lot better) and it sounded pretty darn cool.
I'm gonna miss this siren. This was my favorite allertor. The mount, 10/12 and the attack signal timing (8seconds on, 4 seconds off).
The rotator won't make its mind Lol. Nice catch!
Aaaaaand the gear has finally (almost) worn out. Valid choice to replace it but also sad since it's a rare 10/12 port.
I believe someone is trying to obtain it when it comes down. I just hope it doesn't go to scrap.
@@Thunderbolt1000Tfanthere’s another 10/12 Allertor in the world but it’s located in Cumberland WI
This thing just got put on for sale on December 4th
It went up for auction on November 21, it was sold on December 4. An enthusiast got it, thankfully.
Worst part is, the rotator isn't even fixable since it's gear driven. The teeth on the main gear have worn so much there's nothing for the small gear to grip onto, and that's not fixable.
Excellent video! Sucks that the rotator belts are slipping.
It's actually driven by a gear moving around a roller chain that's riveted to the turntable.
Allertors are either gear driven (only on first gen units like this one), or chain driven. The only ACA siren that rotates with belts is the Howler.
Oh. I didn’t know that. Sorry.
Cmon siren! 👏👏 You can do it! Just 1 spin around, that's all I ask of you. I know you can do it you've done it plenty o times before haven't you? Then get going and give me a spin will ya? 🎉THERE YA GO! There ya go attaboy💪! LEZGO LEZGO🎉 awww dang it.😔🤦♂️ Ah well you did great there. Keep up the good work until your buddy comes to replace you 👍🙏🏋️♂️

Honestly the 2001 looks ugly on that mount since that is an Allertor mount.
