As If Minecraft hardcore wasn't bad enough I've Modded the Heck out of it on a skyblock. I know this is like suuuper late but the reason why your mob grinder explodes is that the "Special Skeletons and Zombies" that spawn are from factions from the Mana and Artifice mod. They are neutral to the player and hostile towards mobs. They attack all mobs (including creepers) on sight and then the creepers end up exploding in their face :)
Admittingly, the botania mod is a huge grind so it's understandable for what you did, trying to only do the botania mod by itself can be over 100 days for how painstakingly slow it is, but great video and fuck the nerd stuff
Man, get other automation mods with it, otherwise making mana farms are a pain, and more pain, just to get a little bit mana

All the pain in Day 14 could have been avoided if Eqlipse knew about the K Key to compress stuff.

29:29 I beg to differ!! Endoflames can be near-effortlessly set up with infinite charcoal via all the automation stuff skyblock has in it! And just making a massive field of them with tons of mana spreaders gives you more mana than you'll ever need! That's way easier than constantly replacing the dying hydroangeas!

Next time when you got trouble with explody mobs and got easy access to lava:
Use Obsidian to layer it, it is almost explosion proof.
Or condensed cobble when that is an option. Should, and that is a big shoul, it hs been years sine I've played skyblock, also be exlosion resistant.

Word of advice for skyblock players, you can you use cobblestone slabs, and assuming they're bottom slabs, no mobs will spawn, this is also beneficial because every cobblestone block is two slabs so you also doubled the block you to expand your base.

Heads up though, Nature's Mend does not work even remotely close to how you described. It's from the Nature's Aura mod, and uses that mod's nondescript magical energy, aura. For nature's Mend to work, you need to store aura in an item called an Aura Cache (or it's upgraded form, an Aura Trove). An item with Nature's Mend will then use the aura stored in the Aura Cache to repair itself. No aura, no repairing.

I agree with all comments, you got totally screwed by that botania tutorial but honestly it's more of a puzzle that a mod, i just used excess charcoal from my tree farm because i spend a lot of time on my base and needed it just to make some trinkets and a few floating islands around my base.

the atm ice and fire dragons so strong that when i fight the T5 underground one i need prot 8 unobtainium armour and jetpack and if my sword doesn't have lifesteal i will likely still die. BUT it makes killing them and hatching the eggs SO GOD DAMN SATISFYING.
