We Found a Bee Swarm in the Back Yard! Catching a Wild Honey Bee Swarm!

- There has been a bee hive in the block wall of my garage since the 70s according to my late father in law. We have watched this hive work and survive for the last 6 years while we have lived here. They are truly a spectacular thing to be able to watch. Last summer we caught them Bearding, a method bees use to cool the hive off when it gets too hot. This is the first time we have actually got to see them split the hive and saw the swarm as it was leaving. We just happened to catch it at the right time.
So I called a good friend of mine who has a dad thats a bee keeper and he came out to collect the hive!
This was really cool to watch and see how its done! Im hoping the next time we see a swarm come out of this hive we will be catching and collecting them to put into our own bee hives!

Good Morning Tina!
That is cool to see in person. We had a swarm land on a bush/tree on one side of the house. Then i saw this GIANT swarm moving across the front yard, then around the trees, then up towards my garage and ended up nesting in one of our locust trees next to the garage
That was pretty cool
