I remember this one story from a mouth I trust not to bs.
There was guy who decided to check out and to do so, he wanted it to be as dramatic as possible; he slit his wrist open with a shiv.
Thing is, apparently a few seconds after he did this, he grew cold feet.
So he began to bang on his cell door, screaming that he was bleeding, he needed help.
Nobody came... and apparently it wasn't like the guards wouldn't be able to hear him.
He kept banging on that door and screaming, but with each scream his voice grew weaker and weaker.
Last thing my friend said he heard was sobbing.
Then he was wheeled away in the morning.
Lesson? If you're thinking about checking out, think real fricking hard before you do so... and seek help... because no matter how lonely you think you are, there will be people who miss you.

In other words, the wisdom, deeper thinking, and survival knowledge gained through your experience actually makes you more intelligent and adaptable for problem-solving situations. So don't beat yourself up too much :)

21:05 thank you for holding on and not self-deleting. i appreciate you for existing, regardless of your past or whatever you may have done.
the only thing that would ever change my opinion of you, you haven't done and i think we can all agree on what that something would be.
you have probably saved SO many lives, helped people correct the course of their lives and that also saved them; so what i'm saying... thank you for making it out.
thank you for posting. thank you for being you and doing what you're doing. whether you're aware of it or not, you are literally saving more lives than any prison
has saved by doing what they do by "locking people up to 'correct their behavior'" - no, sometimes they need to hear it from the source. or in worst case scenarios
they need to see it up close and personal.
let's just say one of my close friends used to move things around and it stopped when he saw a close friend of his almost leave the mortal coil from said product.
it changed his life in a matter of 1 hour in 1 day after a few minutes from 1 bag.
the world is already fucked up as bad as it is, and one of my few wishes (as childish as that is being 33+) is that humanity would stop this nonsense bullshit and
just come together already... it's long overdue we drop the divisions but also celebrate them. there's nothing wrong in celebrating differences just as equally as
celebrating the sameness. what this society doesn't seem to understand is that there's a LOT more sameness than there is difference... and those little differences
have caused so much pain, trauma, death, and from what i've witnessed thus far in my short ride on this space dust, this cycle isn't gonna end unless there's nothing
left - meaning another civilization reset, assuming any humans make it out this time around.

I snapped my left arm in half wrestling with friends in 7th grade. I put my arm out to break my fall, and I literally saw, felt and heard both bones in my arm snap, expand out and turn perpendicular to each other. That snap sound had me messed up in the head for years. Slowly got better, but that sound man. It echoed from the inside of my bones to my ear. The movies have that sound wrong. It’s a unique pitch to itself. If I watch a UA-cam video and hear that break. It’s instant cold sweat and wtf. My shirt will literally look like I dunked it in the pool and wore it. It’s not so bad now. But I’m good on the broken bones videos. I’m 36 now. PTSD is a trip. It can be a look, a sound, a smell, someone’s eyes. It’s such a trip to hear what it is that traumatizes people. It’s such unique things you wouldn’t think about. And it doesn’t matter who you are, how tough, how many times you’ve seen something. It’s that one fraction of a second stuck with you for life.

Hi Larry, this is my first time watching you, not even sure how or why you were in my recommended vids but I’m not complaining. My younger brother has been in and out of prison many times as was my father before he was murdered (not while incarcerated) but I know being locked up has for sure had some long term impact on my brother and he now suffers with some social anxiety, the stigma that comes with being a convicted felon and a host of other difficulties and it’s heartbreaking. I have my own set of issues as most of us do but I just wanted to thank you for your honesty and for being here for others.

I've done over 5 years in Alaska back from 1999-2012. Sometimes I will be in a weird situation in prison or watching something crazy happen, and see graphic violence, and I will suddenly wake up from my nightmare so thankful that I gave up drugs and especially alcohol over 12 years ago.

Thanks again for your videos Larry. Never been inside a joint like only had a few petty things but I changed my life around too it took some time but I'm working and doing the right thing. I completely relate to the gorilla thing you said you had. When I was watching this video I couldn't help but agree with almost everything you said in that regard as it's the same with me as well and I'm like, this guy gets it. It's the same for me - I don't fear death or what's to come and I will face it to the best of my ability with everything I have to this day - but at times before and even to this day sometimes I get in my head and feel like I'm taking it too far - but by talking to someone immediately when that is happening it usually helps 100% nullify those effects - and also agree with being of service and helping someone - I learned in AA to be of service it is one of the 12 steps but also the satisfaction you get from being of service, and that's how I'm able to keep my head on straight and have a simple and structured life today where I have a job and get to be of service and repent for my previous mistakes. That does not make me a bad person for choosing the wrong things, rather I am stronger than before. Thank you again for your videos Larry even though I haven't been in it helps me understand more that I'm on the right path and doing the right thing and I applaud your efforts in reaching out to others with this content.

The fact that you realize that you have the potential to be a monster shows that you are a good man. A good man knows what he is capable of when he is pushed beyond his breaking point and does his best never to put himself in that position. The real monster just reacts and lets the chips fall until he is put down.

All of this is gut wrenching. I often listen to true crime videos and some of the things you said are worse than most of the crimes I heard there (there were few exceptions however) As far as the guy who got his anus cut I can't imagine what he went through (nor do i really want to) As far as the guards doing this to guy's leg this should not go on even in a prison. As far as this ordering person to cough. i really don't see coughing really making a difference in finding out if he is "suitcaseing" something. Before I seen channels like this one I thought that strip search meant you would have to get naked and be patted down and that's it. When I heard of what it actually entails I thought about it as almost a form of rape. the thought that someone would break someone's leg because this person was not coughing loud enough and then after being constantly yield at about it got agitated screams abuse to me. I did expect something like that and it was not surprising for me because by now I know enough society and how it really operates at least more than i did when i was younger. but something like that should never be normalized. people keep telling me that this kind of thing is reality. and i keep telling them that laws of physics are reality as far as things like human society reality is what we make it. and noee of the things you talked about in this video should be ever considered normal. Not even in prison.

Larry is right about the sounds. When you experience something fucked up you remember the sounds. I saw my brother about rip his leg off on a ATV and his screams were haunting. It’s not a normal type of scream when someone gets fucked up pretty bad.

Imagine being that guy in the first story. Locked down, screaming bloody murder while someone does that to you. Praying to God someone stops what’s happening, but know help might not be coming. You can’t run, you can’t hide, you probably can’t overpower your attacker, beaten to a bloody pulp, and that’s happening to you. Fuck man. The hopelessness he had to have felt must have been unbearable. Poor bastard… I don’t doubt that those screams haunt this guy. It’s probably a kind of bloodcurdling scream that no civilian will ever hear at all ever in their time, and are lucky to never have to hear it.

Hey Larry, I am a Chicago guy, grew up in the 70's on the Northside and had an early fascination with high end jewelry, diamonds and Rolex mostly. So I guy I met who became my number 1 buyer was a Northside outfit guy who could tell ya some stories. Anyhow, I did 24 years in the joint in Illinois, started behind the wall at the max in Joliet, was in the West House there for about 2 and a half years before I got my custody score lowered and was sent to a different camp. I will most assuredly cosign your statement on a grown man screaming out in terror. It'll make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Beatings are measured in the amount of blood they drew. They would say "I painted the room with that mother fucker's guts," and they would mean it.

Larry, i understand. Ive never been in prison but i have been a homeless drug addict and some of the things i saw and some of the things that happened to me during that time have stayed with me and replay in my mind when im having quiet moments of thought. Its really intrusive, it forces its way into your mind and you almost need to physically push it out. I always find myself squeezing my eyes shut and clenching my jaws trying to force the thought out
