It's the culture, Koreans don't normally "woohoo" or holler, its considered disrespectful. The older ones don't even normally stand, the younger ones do more though.

I love Sohyang so much. Her heavenly voice is truly a gift from God. I just wanted to clarify that she is not as young as she looks like. Her actual age is about 42 y/o. She is AMAZING 🥰❤️!
Few if any sings with such passion as Sohyang at the same time she completely pours out her very heart and soul. You can tell she means every single words she sings.
This performance is for the soul. No words are necessary. If you don't feel it, no words will make any difference.
I am not Korean but based on my observation, Koreans consider it's respectful not to disrupt or disturb a performance. Also "Everyone" is a pretty well known song so that the audience was aware where it ends.

Believe it or not, the crowd voted for the guy who is pictured at the 6:38 mark, and he went on to win the whole show. But this so called competition is really more of a popularity contest, and the crowd was packed with fans of the winning singer. And Sohyang wasn't surprised with the results. The full episode is available on UA-cam. (She did win the shows where she did Lean On Me, and Bridge Over Troubled Water.) With all that being said, none of that takes away from the fact that this was an incredible performance, and she made it look easier than it was, and she actually said it was so challenging that she wouldn't sing it again. When it comes to a lot of songs that Sohyang sings, you don't just hear it, you FEEL it. And if you know anything about her personal journey through life in general, and as a cancer survivor more specifically, this song makes sense in a lot of ways, and you could tell that she had an emotional connection to it. And she's good at channeling her emotions the right way through her performances. As has been mentioned, subtitles available on Vimeo version.
I was a bit surprised. Because Jung Dong Ha is an insane singer and definitely deserved the win. But I think he had stronger performances and Sohyang was insane. Only thought Son Seung Yeon could've won too, it was on of her best performances in my opinion, she went off!

Oh SoHyang "won" just not as the favorite of the audience. Performance wise, as incredible as others were, it was a no brainer..
They’re usually popularity contests. They wouldn’t get anyone to do the show if Sohyang won every one, even though she deserved to.
This song is rather old. If I recall, it's from the 60s. Everyone there was probably extremely familiar with the original. The quiet moment is in the original, so they would have known it was coming. The transition from 3/4 ballad to 4/4 celebration at the end is also how the original is structured.
On top of that, the song is extremely meaningful to her. She always completely connects with the lyrics, and pours her soul out on stage, and the lyrics of this song clearly resonate with her very strongly. It's no wonder she would be in a different world during that performance.

The songwriter and the original singer are siblings. The songwriter (brother) became Christian in the 70s, and he wrote this song for his sister (original singer) to sing. The song, everyone, became famous and still known now.

This is a Korea gospel song. Best watch on Vimeo because they provide English subtitles whilst YT doesn't have English caption. Need to have English subtitles to understand lyrics better.
