I know I was pretty critical on the last video I commented on but this one was back on point. I also understand that this, and the last comments I made are strictly my opinion. However, it's a fact there are several golden nuggets in here with no wasted time and it feels fun again! Thanks for the years of content.
Hello Jennie and Davis, I was wondering if you could do a video on today’s current events in regards to inflation, rising cost of goods, labor cost, lack of supplies, delayed shipping of supplies.
You guys are good! Wise beyond your years. I didn't want to like you because you like P-51's, but I finally got over that. JUST JOKING. The P-51 is a great plane! But all joking aside, your advice and wisdom are great and I enjoy learning from you two.
Really enjoy your videos and how you handle various issues. A real question though... How do you think the current economic situation will effect your business (if at all)? You make luxury furniture and niche cutting boards that some would say people may pull back purchasing in the near future. I hope it doesn't effect you but I was just curious if you plan for that. Thanks!
There is always opportunity. Even in a recession, crash, or other catastrophe. The businesses that survive long-term learn to build systems that can adapt to whatever opportunity arises. We will make our money in this current wave of money, then we'll pivot and change when the market wants something different.
Hi I want to thank you for your inspiration and advice. I have just signed up for a small barn so that my business can take the next step going from small single garage (15ftx8.5ft) to a 23ft x 14ft. So excited! Thank you!
How could anyone not love this couple. For those of you who want to venture out be on a 9 to 5 job, look at how J & D are developing their own businesses and watch them grow through the challenges and joys of becoming financially independent. This “Old Dude” is now retired from working as a County Employee for the past 25 years. Prior to that, I struggled for 25 years trying to develop a Fine Woodworking business. I considered myself a Master of my craft, however, I never discovered a process of using it to develop a successful business. I was forced to close it down and “Get a Job.” I have been watching how J & D discover what works for them for the past couple of years as they graciously share it with others. I watch what they do and dream of how my life could have been if I could have modeled a business using their experiences and knowledge back in 1971. To me, watching and learning from their journey is just as important (maybe more) as learning to be a maker. The question is, do you want to be a hobbyist or have a successful money-making business. Watch these two and make it your own. Chuck
Wow! Thank you for such a nice comment, Chuck. We love hearing from you on the morning show every day - thanks for this encouragement. Happy you've found peace and happiness!
Another tip regarding phones. Have two. One business and one personal. When you are "off the clock", leave the business phone in the business area. If the business area is at home, also silence it or turn it off so you can't hear it when your are "off the clock" and get pulled into work when you shouldn't be working. This also allows you to turn off your personal phone so it doesn't distract you when you are "on the clock".
Hi J&D...love your vids. Wondering about a future topic. It would be great to hear your thoughts on recession proofing your business. Are you diversifying from real estate? Are you taking any specific actions? Thanks!
I have to say scheduling your work around your previously planned vacation is probably the best advice.

Thanks for your grace and encouragement. We know it comes from the right place 🙏🏼❤️

What wood do you use for your boards?
Now that I think about it, some of my goals are the exact opposite of SMART 😅
You don't know until you know, and now you know! =)

What happened to the woodworking channel? Suddenly feels like I’m binge-watching Dr. Phil
That was a SWEET subtle almost subliminal reference to the like button! Noted!!!
We are big fans of you two, and we are excited to see where things are going for you guys. Keep up the great work!
Yours are Sharp on point ideas.
E- myth revisited, revisited

Ha ha, I noticed that. I assumed they keep it there to stop the dog getting it.
