Viewing this helps me appreciate the effort the producers of TAS took to keep it as true to TOS as they could.
Yes it's really not bad considering their budget restraints.

I think the Animated series is deserving of a long over due upgrade. CBS could easily use these audio performances, create new realistic CG models in the likeness of the original actors, maybe an updated music score, and give these underrated stories new life.
No, best not to use CGI. It dates quickly. See Beast Wars or The New Adventures of Captain Scarlet. The were outdate soon after airing.

You could just used updated animation and backgrounds but keep the key frames and character designs.
A star trek anime would be fire.

From 1973 - 1975 in the Animated Series of Star Trek, Spock made his last appearance in his traditional blue shirt until 2009 when Zachary Quinto plays as Spock. From 2009 - 2013, It was Leonard Nimoy’s last role as Spock until he died in 2015
Zachary Quinto didn't play Spock, he played a pointy eared alien that yelled and ran around like an idiot.

Just a reminder that in TAS, Spock wasn’t the only non-human crew member so Bones was definitely taking a jab at Spock in the end of that time travel episode.

I feel like they belong on an episode of classic Scooby Doo with this art style.
Unfortunately, that was the issue with Filmation. They loved to use stock animation techniques. They just animated over some of the base things they had to fit the cartoon and made them very cheaply. Having said that, oddly enough, they did make some series that are still loved to this day.

I don’t get the hate for the cartoon. Sure, it’s not as fluid as some other cartoons of _later_ generations, but it’s still the same characters with the same set and the same banter and adventure.

I’m upset they took this off of Netflix. It had ALL the Star Treks (aside from Discovery and Picard.) It’s been a while sense then but it still bothers me since I was in the middle of watching it when they removed it.

Did the animated series pick up where the cancelled show left off?
I believe that that was the intent to cover the fourth year of the five-year journey, but I am not sure that's what was put out.
Actually TAS lasted 2 seasons, so it covered the final 2 year of Enterprise's 5 year mission. A few of the episodes were continuations of some TOS episodes.

I liked TAS.
It was one animated series that I wasn't embarrassed to have been caught watching when I was 20.

I would think if you crossbred a green blooded species with a red blooded species the hybrid would have brown blood - components of each.
Unless the involved genes are dominant=> green blood
Another possibility: The production of the green blood is of significantly greater efficiency such that there is effectively no red blood made.

This does not encourage me to see any more of the animated series. Disappointed. Heard it was good. It also seems as if these actors read their lines into a microphone and were isolated from each other. Back to the live show.
Just horrible. I see why The Animated Series never took off. Star Trek dumbed down to slowly spoken, cutesy cartoon bickering.
It was more than that.
The lines of dialog seemed stilted and spoken slowly because the actors voices were recorded in remote locations. Due to budget limitations, none of them were in the same studio. The lines were recited and "pasted" together @ Schiemer Studios to make it seem like they were all together. Budget constraints also cut Walter "Chekov" Koenig" from the show.
If you're judging it purely based on these clips than that's a sorely misguided assumption. Cartoons just weren't as popular among the target audience during the timeperiod this came out in. If they'd released it in the 80's 90's or 2000's the series would've done better. Keep in mind this came out in the 70's when cartoons were more commonly thought of as being for kids. There was much more to it than these clip shows show.

The issue is not 1970s vs 2020s levels of popularity of cartoons.
It's that this treatment of Star Trek lore was, and is, agonizingly simple minded -- an abomination vs tbe 1966-1969 TOS franchise.
Better than nothing. In the same sense 5% is better than 0%. Why not go for 50-500%?
Lot of trek came from the animated series. Amanda Greyson, James Tiberius Kirk, and the biggest addition the Holodeck
Never cared about the cartoon show. It more belongs with that next generation garbage, now that's a joke and deserves to be a cartoon show.

Jack Hollins DS9 was my favorite. Garak my favorite character.
It was too intellectual to be considered just a kiddy show, yet adults like you thought it was just a cartoon and nothing more. I think it was for both.
