    I like how the new audisons show cancellations in the built in rta. I think the built in rta in the audisons are a little better than the helix. But helix is a more powerful dsp though. Much more options for tuners. I still for the life of me can’t figure out the crossover sliders in the helix tune eq. This day and age the software in these dsp’s need to be powerful enough to not have to use expensive external tools “jl audio max”. I should be able to do a full tune off of a umik-1.

    What is the deal with the Virtual Outputs? Let's say we've done this ,should we do the same for the Virtual side again after we set the normal output EQ ?
    once again we have similar situation for the Time alignment Tab, If we set the normal Output side should we enter the same values to Virtual Time alignment?

      No, you leave the virtual channels alone. The virtual channels are very useful to make global adjustments. For example if you have front l and r virtual channels feeding all the front end, you can make global cuts or boosts in one virtual channel and it will affect all the 3way.

    Yo, hoping you can help me. Not sure if theres a better place to contact you, i dont really use Facebook.
    October last year i bought a Helix V Eight DSP MK2 based on you and PS Sound, ive been playing with it ever since in my car. I have two way up front, two full range speakers on the rear deck and a 10 inch Alpine Type R (working great, though i believe it to be 25 years old). Ive had the sub for many years in smaller cars and no issue.
    Throughout tuning, yesterday i just got a UMIK-1 because of you, i have the same issue occuring.
    The issue is clipping on some tracks on my subwoofer, i can play a really bassy track and it sound amazing and perfect, then i can play some house music and the bass drum is clipping on the subwoofer. At the same volumes.
    I have done some tweaking and thinking and have come up with the following ideas:
    - gain set incorrectly on subwoofer amp
    - signal too hot from DSP
    - 10 inch SVC Type R too small, not high enough power for size of vehicle/length/distance from me
    - high dynamic range of the signal from the Helix, varying from track to track.
    If i turn the gain down on the amp then the subwoofer is too quiet, if i turn it up to clip and back it off a bit then it will still clip in some tracks.
    Could you tell me what you think might be the issue please? I can test a 12 inch Infinity sub and perhaps borrow a JL 12W0. I will be upgrading at some point but i would like to work out the issue is as part of the process. Thanks for everything you have done, sharing knowledge for free with the community. You have taught me a lot and ill be forever grateful for that.
    Now i have re-tuned my car today with the UMIK-1 and TuneEQ after taking measurements in REW just for the record, i cant believe how clear it sounds compared to TuneEQ with a built (sounds decent) laptop microphone. But that's to be expected 😂

    • @RAW-CAt
      @RAW-CAt  7 місяців тому

      To me it sounds that it can be something else than clipping. Maybe a resonance of some sort. Maybe ripped or unglued spider, tinsel leads or even unwind voice coil..check the subwoofer driver itself for mechanical damage, as for a sub that old, it is a possibility.
