Wish I could join the Patreon but have been listening for a couple years now and you guys have upped my game significantly. I'm Thankful for you all this year!
I get why Ben doesnt love the format as a core set. i think the reasons for that is a big reason for the struggles with green. Stataments like if im green i want to be aggressive are out of place. Aggro decks dont define this format at all. You just can build good stuff mid rangy decks like 10 years ago, it doesnt have to be focused. Yall hit the right note saying cards need to pull their own weight. Thats what green does when its open, i.e. Elvish Regrower. If youre worried about flyers then pick snarespinner higher and make sure you get removal from the other color. 6 mana to give +2+2 when youre flooded wins games.
GR stompy has been great for me. Elvish regrower wheels a lot and I got a 14th pick Battlesong Berserker. Also Sylvan Scavaging is legit broken, one opponent played an on curve Koma against it and it just didn't matter.
At the point I am, which is having played 15 Traditional Sealed and no drafts, with the draft from the draft log I am going Giada, Cat Collector, Mossborn Hydra, Eager Trufflesnout, Overrun, Guarded Heir, Ambush Wolf. Now I am not claiming these are the correct picks, but say I had taken Infernal Vessel pick 3 I would still go Eager Trufflesnout, Overrun, Guarded Heir and then taken the gainland. While I've liked Soul-Shackled Zombie I do feel Scoured Barrens is the pick over it. The pick that I feel is worth the most discussion is pick 4, where I am willing to be (but as of yet un)convinced of that picking a land is correct here.
Hydra is not a good card in limited. It's a 3 mana 1/1 or 2/2 you play on turn 4. If you're very lucky it grows to an 8/8 by turn 6 which is good, but not exceptional. So the ceiling is reasonable, the floor is exceptionally low, and the average case is pretty bad.
@morgancarlton4544 both untappedgg and 17 lands have ruby and moss born hydra rated about equally. And to be fair, without a 4 power creature, ruby is a 1/2 mana dork. Also, hydra comes down turn 2 if you have llanowar turn 1, and that can be a problem.

I havent Seen elvish regrower late at all.
Regrower wheeling is nuts. Haven’t seen that personally
yeah RG is a really strong deck for sure
Battlesong Berserker all day over the Eager trufflesnout in the hypothetical Gruul deck
oooh okay!

You forgot about Goblins. I had a great deck with krenko, banner of kinship and multiple goblin surprises. It was very good
oh good call! I've seen double surprise with banner go off
green is fine if you can play magic
I like snare spinner for giving my angels stats
hold the ground WHILE buffing flyers? nice!
Were you guys reading a script for that miracle plug? Haha
Ben sure does hate llanowar elves. Card has like a 60% win rate when in your opening hand.
He literally says in this episode "llanowar elves is one of the best cards, right?" not sure how you came to that conclusion...
If you guys did go R/G in the first draft, why would you take the ruby over the hydra? Ruby is decent but hydra can win the game by itself

The Hydra is broken. They have to kill it
I think the acceleration is really key and haven't been super impressed by hydra
So when we get board and look for a build around it just the color green lol!!
Just body after body busting out of shit wood and hitting pavement
