This video is part 1 of my balcony makeover, where I'll be tackling the main living room balcony.
What was previously an under-utilised and neglected balcony, has now been transformed into a functional and welcoming space that serves as an extension to our living room.
Ever since I completed the balcony, I’ve found myself spending more time on the balcony to escape the busyness of everyday life, or to get some light work done in a different environment outside the office.

I live in Munich, Bavaria, and had the very same grass tiles on my balcony. Sadly the brown marmorated stink bugs loved them too, they abused them to breed in them... I welcome new ideas right now!

Yes definitely! Still waiting for the bedroom makeover (a lot of custom DIY works and waiting for products to arrive), but will be doing another tour afterwards.
Great video Reynard! Could you please do one specifically on all your electronic items that you own and use? Also, any connectivity between devices like Alexa, google home, ways to turn devices on/off manually and/or remotely. I'm thinking of reducing the number of devices that I own and use. I'm wondering what are the essential devices that a person and a home needs. Please include your devices like laptop, tablet, etc and how do you make them work seamlessly with other devices. Thank you! :)

Everything is beautiful but the black wire from the lights looks messy. I would just end the wires at the end of the balcony rail instead of going up the second wall. I love those new pots and plants, you might want to put real plants in the pots on the shelves.

I am trying to fix the curtain rod here in Honolulu and having a dreadful time. you can teach people skills to fix things but sense of Beauty and passion for your workmen ship is hard to come by .....

What I wouldn't give for water access on our apartment balcony. Yes, I know: first world problems, but our kitchen is literally on the other side of the apartment and there isn't a watering can big enough for the amount of plants we have for a single trip.
This is a place for me to relax and admire !

Yeah for sure, and they’re huge! Fortunately I’m at the top floor so there’s only the occasional flies.
Do those pots have draining holes for your beautiful Cactus plants?
Yes for sure! And some pebbles and sand in the mix as cactuses don't like drowning in water.

I actually got that one from Bunnings (Eastgardens) - but I’ve also seen them in a few garden centres like Flower Power.

I'm not sure why it's become a fad to run lighting on balconies - from all the videos I've looked at. Moreover, like wind chimes, it must be annoying for the neighbours.
