I do recommend a russian tutor though, because there are alot of complex words and grammar, but if you are prepared to study all by yourself, then i wish you good luck!!!

it's much cheaper to go alone but its very dangerous, best if you have a friend in japan to show you around and stuff if your visiting for around a week or less you can rent an airbnb, its cheaper than a hotel

If you are female, take extra caution when walking alone, never ever go anywhere without looking it up first, check if its not secluded and has plenty people around at all times of day, and try to sit more if your using the train theres many gropers looking for material

It's easier to go as a student and then find a part-time job, search for international exchange programs and to your plans.
