I had an MD in my Uber talking about how great it was that i could "listen to what I want and get away from my family for a bit." Horrible.
It was literally ten seconds away from his destination, or else I would have told him how wrong he was.

Thank you Guy Standing. Thank you Havens Wright Center for Social Justice. Gardening should grow GDP. UBI. Yes and I am aware that UW Madison is home to a superb cooperative housing organization and many worker coops. Good for you. You are also home to Michael Feldman. Yes! And we have the OLIGARCH Act in the US House. It is being promoted by the Patriotic Millionaires. They are busy organizing workers and others. Find them online.

Why don’t the soulless ghouls just reinstate slavery again? You know they want to

They have. They decide where you can go. They decide where and how you spend their money.

You are right, but they will have to feed the slaves, and they will have to use their money to do it, not going to happen. The slaves will have to grow food, for the masters, and will be allowed to keep a minuscule portion for themselves.

Cheap fossil fuels make slaves uncompetitive, but things will change..piece workers are less of a hassle than slaves.. no capital outlay..

Maybe not the point, but this reminds me of how I think about retirement savings. I identify a middle class family I know and try to surround them with my investments in my mind. So I'm always thinking "YES, you can buy groceries, but I have to get paid. YES, you can take your kids to Disneyland, but I have to get paid. Yes you can buy gasoline for your car, but I have to get paid. YES, you can take medicine, but I have to get paid. YES, you can rent or buy a house, but I have to get paid."
They don't know I'm thinking this way, but every time they mention almost anything they did over the weekend, I'm thinking "Yeah, some of that ended up in my pocket. Thanks!"

The GDR was a great force for the area's welfare states.

Just as it is the case with Marx, this branch of thinking is useful to point out issues with the current system, it is a great tool for analysis. But, just as it was the case with Marxism it has no ability to establish working and sensible social policy.
As the speaker pointed out: when you allocate fishing space based on imperial power so not be surprised that the 'emerging' empire is not going to like that. A comprehensive overhaul of the economy and social system will be opposed by the powerful and unless the 'revolutionaries' step down it will come to violence.
The solutions offered here are either naive or purposefully misleading. Take your pick.
As much as I adore the goodwill and humanity in these fringe movements I cannot take them seriously and I believe will not have the strength to move further from the fringe.
