Her theme is like the inverse of Urbosa's. Urbosa's begins strong, but then mellows out to show that she has a sympathetic side, meanwhile Riju's begins kind of meek, but then reveals itself to be totally badass

One detail I love about Riju is that the stance she takes when you charge her lightning attack is the classic fighting stance of the Gerudo thieves you fight in Ocarina of Time. Such a great callback.
Total badass, my favorite champion decendent from botw and now shes just epic. With a theme that feels powerful and regal, it feels like she rules these dunes and its perfect.
The middle-eastern/persian touch is waaay better than the spanish shenanigans of Ocarina of Time, I know the gerudo music is pretty cool in Ocarina, but as a huge Prince of Persia fan, I prefer this one

Still, as you said, the muslim influences are not significant in Iberia, not even us and the spaniards associates their culture (of course, prejudice plays a factor, especially among the spaniards). From the "outside", other western european countries, the americas, etc.. they don't associate hispanic culture with middle-eastern culture, it's like a niche of a niche so to speak. Now when you mix up the "arabian nights", which is basically a junction of iranian culture, indian, arabic, etc.. that is literally the Prince of Persia flavor (or to be even more mainstream, that's how Disney adapted Aladdin), this is way more recognizable for westerners

Not to be annoying, but is kinda untrue. Sidon carries you on his back and you must protect him from the ice attacks. While Teba doesn't carry you, he is the obly one who is injured during the attacks on the beasts. And Yunobo was the only thing that could held back Vah Rudania.

By far the best theme in the game, although all the music in this game I enjoyed! The Lightning temple was definitely my favourite in terms of puzzle solving and the music was just awesome. Felt a bit like being in arbiter's grounds in twilight princess, in terms of temple scale. The Fire temple was quite fun as well and a close second for favourites temples in this game! The Water and Wind Temples however, were a bit disappointing in my opinion. But overall they have definitely improved things from BOTW! I do miss following a linear storytelling plot though. I know you get an awesome story from what you collect with the tears/memories, but its not quite the same. I do prefer a good qualilty story to follow and sink some hrs into rather than quantity in terms of there being just far too much to explore in these sandbox style games!
0:35 Nintendo, you’re making it really hard for me to view the Gerudo from the ‘Amazonian’ angle, you’re pushing it more toward Middle Eastern, but more specifically, Egyptian.
I always thought the Gerudo being desert people always meant they were inspired by the Middle East and Egypt. Especially with Urbosa’s theme in the previous game and the stone ruins present everywhere in the desert.
As I said in another comment thread: The Gerudo seem to be moreso based on just "desert" cultures as a whole with an Amazonian twist rather than any one specific irl culture. I've noticed Persian, Egyptian, Arabic, Mongol and even Sub-Saharan African references built into them over the years.

Nope, she is NOT Urbosas daughter…! Biggest evidence is that it’s stated in the book „Create a champion“, wich also happens to be cannon, that Riju is 12 years old in Breath of the Wild. And since the calamity is 100 years ago, it’s simply impossible that she’s her daughter. Furthermore Riju always speaks of her mother and Urbosa as separate individuals. And last but not least thanks to Tears of the Kingdom we now know, that Gerudos age normally, because there are a lot of new Gerudo children and the „former“ children are now taller and seem to be preteens.

Well, maybe, nothing in TotK denies that the sages were once sent back in the past to help the Champions. (In fact, perhaps Sidon's insecurity could've been trigged because, while he technically saved Mipha in another timeline, the Mipha he knew is still dead.

The Gerudo are based off Egyptians (at least, they resemble ancient Egyptians more than any middle eastern country to me), so I’d assume she should have their accent (whatever that sounds like).
@@Hewasnumber1 the gerudo pull from many cultures and religions not just one much like there's both Japanese and medieval architecture in Hyrule. Gerudo originally had the crescent moon and star a symbol of Islam, but the ost to gerudo valley boasted a Spanish guitar something presumably not found in Egypt or the middle east. I feel like Aonuma combined different elements from different cultures.

The Gerudo are based off Egyptians (at least, they resemble ancient Egyptians more than any middle eastern country to me), so I’d assume she should have their accent (whatever that sounds like).
@@Hewasnumber1 the gerudo pull from many cultures and religions not just one much like there's both Japanese and medieval architecture in Hyrule. Gerudo originally had the crescent moon and star a symbol of Islam, but the ost to gerudo valley boasted a Spanish guitar something presumably not found in Egypt or the middle east. I feel like Aonuma combined different elements from different cultures.

@@ghost19101 According to BotW's art book, Gerudo kids grow faster (which is why Riju is designed to look a bit older than 12 in BotW). Bolson's daughter doesn't have a confirmed age, but considering that, she's likely a few years younger than she physically looks.
