    I am so appreciative to have found your videos. I stopped singing suddenly in January after a personal loss. When I wanted to resume singing in June, I found my range shortened on both ends and a loss of flexibility. I am diligently doing your warmups daily and my range , flexibility and control are returning. I’m about to resume my public singing again and your videos have made all the difference. Thank you so much for sharing your skills with the public. ❤

    Absolute excellence - many many thanks Kathleen. What a superb cover of range from high to low. I have to stop on the very low notes - just can't make those, but that's no problem at all. I love the great variations of vowels you use in your videos.
    As other people have, I just want to mention the puss - what a character! No detriment I'm sure - I know cats are adept at landing on all four feet! 🙀😻😸

    Hi Kathleen..I love your warm ups!! Could you maybe spell out the exercises phonetically on the screen? Sometimes I'm not sure what vowels/consonants you are singing. If that's not possible that's quite okay.

    The “ee”s and “eh”s have always eluded me. It was one of the things my voice teacher in college worked with me most on, but somehow your instructions make it easy to relax into those sounds and create a full open sound with them without losing the integrity of the vowels. Love your warmups. Thanks! ❤

    Great vid! So glad I found your channel. The vocal function exercises one is my go to daily as I’m dealing with some strength issues. It’s been a lifesaver. Thank you!!QUESTION. Would you consider doing a video on how to clear phlegm without coughing?

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
      @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen  2 роки тому +5

      So glad you've been getting good use out of my videos! There's definitely a way to do what you're asking (as coughing can be hard on the vocal folds!) - in essence, it's a forceful exhalation of air without sound... without bringing the vocal folds together. I'll consider working that into a video. Thanks for the suggestion.

    • @dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394

      I have just finished my warm ups and was looking through the comments, and noticed yours about the phlegm problem. Before I warmed up, I noticed that FREYA CASEY has just uploaded a video about "singing phlegm away" (or similar wording). I haven't watched it yet so can't comment, but perhaps you may like to watch it anyway.

    Is the purpose of a warm-up routine to warm up the vocal folds so they don't get hurt from singing like warming up the muscles before doing the real heavy weight lifting workout, or to train the vocal folds to produce the desired notes in the most effective and healthy way? I mean if I do the warm-ups in the morning and sing, then take a nap in the afternoon, will it be still healthy to sing in the evening without having to do the warm-ups again on this same day?

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
      @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen  2 роки тому +3

      Hi there! I'd say it's a little of each. I definitely need to physically/mechanically warm up the first time I sing during the day (especially if it's morning and I haven't been speaking much!), but if you still feel fine and warmed up in the evening, you probably can spend that pre-practice or pre-rehearsal time really thinking about technique and making sure everything is coordinated and working well together without having to do an athletic-grade "warm up". Hope that makes sense!

    Great warm up--thank you! Question: When singing a descending scale I noticed one note always turns into a "fog horn" at the point where I'm not sure whether to push it with more chest voice or let it sound too flutey in head register. Either of those ways sounds almost as bad as the fog horn! Any exercises that helps with that "indecisive" note that never comes out right?

    • @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen
      @VocalWarmupsWithKathleen  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi there! it's not possible to tell without hearing you, but two main things come to mind.
      1 - that note is at your break/passaggio, and you can do some exercises to help with that: Fix Your Vocal Break | Navigate Passagio | Head Voice To Chest Voice Exercises
      ua-cam.com/video/ZDoQ8OdtWxE/v-deo.html
      2 - if it's the same note all the time and you actually can't sing it, it's a good idea to see a specialist and get scoped!

    Olah is so pretty! Just wondering how to keep an ageing voice from becoming tired after exercising or singing. Is it just that I sing too loud for vocal cords or is it something else. I notice that I sound like I'm losing my voice after singing a while.
