I am sold!! They need to bring back their Nokia camera app, Nokia camera Pro, PureView Display and the Zeiss Lenses on their smartphones. I hope they launch these very soon here in India.
They are launching it
Not exactly skyline but another one crest and crest max
Omg... that was a blessing i had tue nokia 808 pure view 108 mgxl in 2012... the pix i clicked then are the best pics till date... pure view had a symbian os .
Finally, some much needed variation in smartphone design.
@@sinon4 In what way, I think if you can change the design without losing performance then go for it
This design isn’t new, with the rounded phone inside what looks like an aluminum rectangle.
I like it, but I would like it much more in yellow. That customisable button and the repairability are awesome.
Love the overall design, but more colours would be appreciated for sure - bit of yellow, blue, red, green etc like the classics!
Basicly all phones have a customizable button. The power button. And apps are avaliable to remap buttons too. But it is one extra customizable button along side the one already there.
Business edition gives more OS updates. Honestly the Skyline is a massive step in the right direction from HMDs Nokia branded devices. If you’re not an intensive mobile gamer, there really is a lot to like here. Shame there’s no headphone jack, but the design is super cool and functional. Hats off to HMD. Keep more of the same coming. Hopefully the lumia design will filter down to cheaper models too.
@@NaldzHobbySide Business editions are typically twice as long. However it could be as much as 5 years or possibly more
@@NaldzHobbySide Custom roms which means future support for this device for the time available.
This with the Nokia logo would have been absolutely iconic and Fire looking!
They want to establish themselves as a new brand, and keep Nokia as their "cheap phone" logo I guess. But man this phone could've been phone of the year contender if they gave it longer software support, larger battery and snapdragon 7 gen3 instead.
camera in the middle like old lumia with the NOKIA branding would be perfect
@@nevil3076somewhere else on the back? Wtf? As if the camera would take away the whole back panel lol
Just buy a Nokia sticker and stick it behind that removable back panel....
@@Catalanskrr I don't know if you're mocking me or agreeing with me... HMD is the New Nokia. Why would Nokia name still be used?
lumia phones were some of the best designs and example of craftsmanship
Im in love with this phone alot. It reminds me of the old days while using nokia. And the camera looks great here. Plus the design looks nice. So clean and simple
That repairability makes this phone very lucrative, despite the lackluster chipset and short software support. I hope this easy repairability trend catches some wind in the near future. Thanks for the heads-up! 🙌
I honestly value a replaceable battery more than chipset. I have not felt help back by a chip in 4 years 5 years even mid-range. Even like the 720 g on my Pixel 4a or the 765 on my LG wing were completely fine for me.
Honestly while the sd 7s gen 2 is not top of the line, it is enough for everything Android has to offer really.
Hell even the SD 845 is enough for everything Android has to offer. And the 7s gen 2 is a step up from the 845 in terms of performance.
With a little custimizatiom, I bet you could get this beast to perform even better. Like add a vapor chamber from an older flagship.. Put on a 25% Overclock on the processor, and presto.
I remember my yellow Lumia 820, I loved it back then
Who tf thought dropping the legendary phone name "NOKIA" into hmd will make it more appealing to consumers?!
Certainly a bold move, if they weren't pressured to ditch the name license. See. how it pans out for them!
I think the logic of it was Microsoft killed the Nokia name with the crash of their Windows phone platform, where Nokia was the worst victim of it. Then the android Nokias weren't really big hits either, this seems like a very decent device with well rounded specs and a really appealing design and they wanted to seperate from that bad past. A quick google search and people can see that HMD is basically good old Nokia.
very odd move the hmd name just gives off the vibe of yet another generic Chinese smartphone maker
Damn, for £400 its pretty impressive that the Skyline has a full set of cameras (main+ultrawide+tele), usually £400 phones struggle to fill out a full set of cameras
Also the wireless charging and not to mention a phone that doesn't look like everyone else's Phone
The 2 years updates is a dealbreaker here, everything else seems great though
This one brings happiness and good feelings I have been missed by a lot of nice phones in my home country
The animation when lock and unlock is cool, it's fading from the lock button
*HMD Design I'm now inside you* 💀
Chris 2024
"Not realy sure what's Twisted about it. Maybe it likes pleasuring itself to old episodes of Judge Judy or something." was not something I was expecting to hear in a tech review lmao
Thanks for the video, I think Tech Spurt is the only channel who has made a video on this device so far. 😅 A competitive device from hmd after a long time. One of the rare midrange devices that have Wireless, reverse wireless charging and telephoto lens.
Genuinely surprised with this model. Repairability looks much sinpler than most smartphones out there, and it's still IP54 resistant!
And an actual triple camera set up. Standard, wide and tele. None of that macro or depth sensor rubbish.
Probably one of the top mid-range models this year.
there are phones with removable back cover and ipx8 rating(or close to it)
You are the first who unboxed it. Thank you ❤
15:43 💀💀 that was something unexpected I heard 🤣😂
Great to see a decent repairable phone!!
They fixed the mobile permanently with a box = New design 😂😂😂
Looks amazing. Yellow for me please! Replaceable battery is great! Only the cameras would be a deal breaker for me.....
Nah, the glass back. Give me my indestructible polycarbonate ffs!
There would probably be different replacable backs in the future no? Since it's so easily removable, I'd wager they'll release more designs and materials on the future to swap. And if not, it's nothing a little bit of 3D printing wouldn't fix.
Love the vibration of old Nokia
Finally! 😃 The new HMD range.
Seriously 400 bounds, Redmi 13 note pro plus is dancing around this relic, thx a million for hard efforts on bringing us the latest updates
Okay, I actually want this phone
Got mine today, compared to the nokia x20 everything is loads better. I'm not concerned about the nokia branding. It's a good honest phone that feels more premium. My only gripe is the colours on the display are a little too vivid, similar too Samsung. Thanks Chris for your fair judgement 👍
This is beautiful.. they need to make a smaller version
Hope they will release more colors and other lumia design inspired phones. It is refreshing to see something different.
Imagine a lumia style caméra bump. Missed opportunity
They may not have the right to use that kind of design thing. Microsoft took a lot of patents away from Nokia
I love the Lumia design so I'm definitely keeping my eye on this too. Also thanks for the site been needing some new wallpapers
This just made me miss my Lumia Windows Phone. That was peak cell phone era in my opinion.
Absolutely! There were so many varieties phones. I loved that time. We had Lumia, HTC desire, Xperia, iPhone and S series of Samsung.
Did love those phones, despite the apps selection not being quite as strong. Live tiles were amazing
Finally some colour and variation in smartphone design.
Loved These Lumia's
Thanks a lot for the video. Some people don't know English. When talking about phone settings, show this in writing in one corner of the screen. Even if we don't understand what you're talking about then We can see what you're talking about and what information you provide. Please consider. Greetings from Azerbaijan. I am your regular follower
Which app do you use for wallpapers? 😅
So i'm just curious, do you think which one has the better camera result? HMD skyline or nokia X30?
5:17 can't believe we lost the jingle! 😭
I’m really thrilled that HMD is reviving this iconic design from the old Lumia series, I've always admired it and felt it truly stands out from the crowd.
I hope they extend this design philosophy to future flagship models, ideally with a top-notch camera and, most importantly, several years of updates like Samsung and Google offer nowadays.
Lastly, the collaboration with iFixit is extremely promising. I hope they continue down this path and that it doesn’t just turn into a gimmick.
Lumia design is back and it's refreshing!!
As a solidly committed Nokia fanboy, this is what i've been waiting for! I missed the Nokia 8.3, for reasons, ... temporarily switched to Samsung... and by the time i had thrown THAT trash in the bin, I settled instead for the G60, which has been a solid performer for almost 2 years now and I started to panic when seeing that there had not been a replacement for the G60 or the X30 and that HMD have switched to... HMD... and they had only pumped out low end phones so far. So this is truly the right phone at the right time for me! Well done HMD you legends!
Looks so good
I loved my old windows Lucia phones. Swappable batteries, changeable covers, and one model had a terrific camera, better than any of the androids I have had since.
Love your reviews, Uncle Spurt ❤️
Skyline is a very unique name for a phone. Finally, a phone that has no Neo, GT, Pro, Ultra, Plus, Note or 5G in its name.
Pretty in pink, it has taken HMD a while to introduce a new desirable phone.
As usual i will wait for the price to drop, no sense in paying full retail prices.
Let's hope there are more models to follow. and with more generous OS updates
only 2 is way too short.
The body design is a homage to the legendary N8
Sad that they had to stop using the Nokia name.
Same as what Microsoft did. Started using the Nokia brand then went on to produce their own brand which failed miserably.
Nokia was way ahead of their time with phones like the 1520. I still love that phone. They need to remake it with new tech and send it.
Not a single video without 'Shenanigans' 😊😊
That's tooooo big a for being a Lumia.HMD should have gone for a 6.1" screen size.
the frame with that screen look so strange but kind of cool
If it had Nokia written on it, it would of already been mine
@AzureRT456 I guess haha. Then I turn it on and don't hear the Nokia Jingle.
If it makes you feel better, HMD is basically a continuation of Nokia phones. Their HQ is only a postal code away from Nokia's HQ in finland
Arrived here after searching for Nubia. I still miss my yellow Lumia 1020, best camera available at the time. Camera grip was a great addition too. Shame that they lost their way. You now have a new subscriber albeit a camera biased and not gamer biased one.
fm radio???
Finally a Finnish design so much loved in the Lumia days, not the same boring Chinese curved edges
need more colour variants
Amazing Phone! Great Review. Greetings from Germany. Thx for Flashback to my Lumia 950XL (I also keep it, in a little Box )
Why not using SD 7+ gen 3?HMD missed the change to show muscle....😊
Got the blue one and updated the OS out of the box. Speaker is loud and compared to X20 that was launched at similar price (Skyline gets cheaper depending on region) this is much worth it. I got X20 for parent at $140, and only at that price that the pricing is justified.
Just like you said, the display is warm out of the box. Not sure if it's LG pOLED characteristic which it'll get better over time. At least no smearing at low brightness like early pOLED
Looks good. Does it have a headphone jack?
This phone looks beautiful.
THank you for unboxing. Does it have FM radio built in? I've seen some specs that say it does and others that say it doesn't or unsure.
@8:20 why is the display is not appearing "black"on either sides of the video, as it should do, if it's a pOLED display, kinda making me feel that this is some LCD panel and not pOLED.
A main thing missing here .. the OG Lumia interface, the launcher with live tiles, the expanded ui, quite straight forward, quite subtle, now it's looking same as any other android phone, don't how it is better than any other in same price range.
Hi. Thanks for the review. Do you know if this is a true dual SIM device? Nano SIM + e-SIM + SD Card? Dual standby? Have a good day.
Beautiful screen and front design
the screen design brings so much memories
If they make centered back camera with rounded housing like the iconic 1020 lumia, that would be hot 🔥
Great looking phone. Just needs amazing camera tech, coupled with a fast charging battery that lasts and HMD could be right up there
i always fell in love with your anime wallpapers
You are showing the mobile’s physical design, but not once have you shown it with the screen off. Is the video about the phone’s design or your wallpaper?
Was waiting for this one. Thanks Uncle Spurt.
Usual serial offernders got my mood up❤
Did you notice while using it, that brightness goes up and down, it's doing it mine, the adaptive brightness is off, not sure if it's my device or if it was doing on yours
Does it have a problem with the type C charging port? I think HMD has solved this
That was the SWEET HOME series in the screen and display segment, right?
Ooo gonna have to see if I can get one of these for my mum, she'll love that purple-pink colour.
I do like the wallpaper you used, can you tell me what or website you download that wallpaper?
Still have a Lumia 640XL and 950 and 950 XL , still using the latter. Wish the Skyline had a dedicated phone button ,( I realise you can set it on the on the left hand button but on the wrong side ) .and Zeiss lenses
This has some nice features! I do hope they bring out more colours soon!
what about the aperture of the 3 cameras? Has it a 4x optical zoom, right?
Big Lumia user back in the day. Had a 520, 640 and 735. Good to see some of that design language in the HMD Skyline. But the sharp corners digging into the palms are a legitimate deal breaker for me.
Can live with the look of it but don't know if the £499 price tag is justified for the lack of software support.
Does the processor support writing and processing of high frame rate videos (60 frames per second)?
That shape combined with the metal construction instead of polycarbonate is more reminiscent of the Nokia N8 than the Lumia series to my eyes.
Would also love to see, the Nokia Asha like transparent glass/plastic outer cover. :)
what date is the global release of this phone cant wait i own lumia phone i want to get this bad boi
Good design, nice colour, I hope for more flashy Lumia colours in the future.
I'm a phone gamer but this phone is really tempting me as a lumia fan. Everything I wanted. Only thing I would like would some more processing punch.
Important question do you have a game bar?
Does it really have telephoto lens? I see online specs with only wide, ultra wide and tiny macro. The main wide lens is suppose to be the one zooming in 4 times digitally
Hello!
does the phone have the ability to mute the camera sound?
does it have the function of waking up the screen when receiving notifications? and the ability to turn it on and off with a double tap?
Last question, when it turns on does it always make that sound? I think it can't be disabled unfortunately...
Thanks
I really like the design,it reminds me my good Nokia lumia in nice yellow colour 👌 i was waiting for HMD to bring that design back ,good move i think 👌
I really want this phone to make it to India, definitely looking forward to put it above the motorola edge 50 pro.
Hey
From where did you get this cool wallpapers
I would have liked to see the iconic bright yellow, blue and other lively colors from the Lumia lineup, missed opportunity I guess.
Guess they're saving those for the "premium" versions
@@cep21hopefully that's the reason. I miss my Lumia 1520
There’s a Cyan color coming up next month
The yellow, oh the yellow
Yeah, 1020. That was a dream phone to have back then.
