Once of the best parts of this device, in my opinion, is that you might be able to actually keep your ceiling fan on without the fan itself causing as many dry eye symptoms. I know that many eye care providers are telling patients to turnoff or turn down the ceiling fan at night to reduce dry eye symptoms and some people have to sleep with that circulating air on to get proper rest.

I didn't even know this was a thing with the eyelids not fully closed. I wear an eye mask every night but not for that, just to block out any light that comes in through the window. It helps me sleep longer. I have one for every night of the week. 😊
I use an eye mask too but have realized that my eyes will open under the mask. I figured this out when I kept getting little fibers from the mask in my eyes.
I use Muro 128 eye ointment at night, plus a eye mask. Helps so much. I have had this battle for years in both eyes. Have spent so much money on treatments and this is the lesser of the evils.
@@christinegarza6516 You can get it at Wallgreens, CVS, or Amazon. I use a non name brand too from Amazon called: Rugby, cheaper and is same formula. Hypertonic 5% Sodium Chloride ointment. Thank you for this. In 2019, I a very bad cold / flu bug which also caused pink eye in my left eye. My doctor gave me antibiotic drops for that, but then 3 weeks later I woke up feeling as if something was in that eye. This feeling lasted for days. Over the weekend I went back to that doc (Minute Clinic / not eye doc because they were closed). This general doc looked at my eye with a flashlight and dye and said I had a scratch on the eye. He gave me something for it (can’t remember) and told me to follow up with my eye doc. I did follow up with my eye doc a week later. My eye was just starting to feel better, and she saw no evidence of a scratch. So we aren’t 100% sure if that was a scratch. I think the pink eye did something to this eye since it was right after this that my left eye never was the same when sleeping. During the day, both eyes are fine, but at night when sleeping, that left eye gets very dry, and I wake up with a raw scratchy feeling in that eye only. Even when I use ointments or gels - I can sometimes wake up with ointment still in my eye, but it feels as dry as sand - with ointment sitting on top of my dry eye. It’s as if the pink eye interfered with the production of my tear layer while sleeping or something. My eye doc also checked with that light to check for a gap when sleeping. The first time she checked she thought she saw a hairline gap. Second time, no gap at all. We are still trying to figure this out. 😞
Hey! I have the same problem ! I think I had pink eye and then right after I now have severe dry eyes at night, so bad that it's causing corneal abrasions. It's miserable! Have you found a solution?
@@themeganann Yes! I had to use Muro 128 ointment in the affected left eye every night for almost a year (no skips or breaks). I believe this ointment gave the outer layer of my eye more time to heal naturally by not allowing my eyelid to cause micro-abrasions when opening in the morning. I haven’t used the ointment in a couple of months now. My eyes are still a bit dry when waking (esp my left) but no abrasions. Sometimes if I feel a little nervous about my left eye being more dry before sleeping, I will use the Muro 128 ointment before sleeping but this is very rare now. Also, I tried many other ointments that did not work as well. Something about the Muro keeps the eye hydrated all night (longer than the other ointments). I believe it’s related to how it works with the sodium in the eye. I hope the same might work for you! 🙏💕
@@themeganann …And my theory as to why the Muro 128 ointment works: My eye doc said that in some people, the top, outer layer of our eye doesn’t “seal” as well as it did before the scratch or pink eye damage. Although I have also heard (and read) that the eye and most things in our body “want” to heal back to what they were. I think the reason this happens to some people is because our eye is irritated and healing from the original issue (scratch or pink eye). Then when we sleep, our eyelid might make a tiny abrasion in the outer film that keeps trying to heal, which starts the healing process all over again. By adding a good ointment that lasts through the night (and sleeping right after putting it in - no blinking or looking at your phone before sleeping), we are helping to keep the eye moist when waking so the eyelid doesn’t keep tearing the new outer layer that is trying to heal. This is just a theory, but I think it’s what happened in my case. I feel almost as normal as I did before my pink eye or scratch. Good luck to you!
I had a really hard time with dry eyes as a result of eye drops I was prescribed (no longer using these). I bought an eye heating pad (Amazon has these). I placed a damp paper towel sheet on my eyes before using this heating pad and it worked really well for me. (The eye heating pad I use is blue, thin, and has adjustable heating settings.)
Sorry for the long delay here. Yes, I've used the damp paper towel with the heated eye mask thing. The key is that the paper towel is very damp but not sopping wet. I usually wet a folded paper towel (so that it's length-wise and fits over my closed eyes), and zap it for about 10 seconds in the microwave. Once it's warm, I put it over my closed eyes and the heating mask over that. @@twinklestars4949

When I'm awake my eyes are fine but when I go for a nap and when I go to sleep for the night I wake up with dry eyes. Some times when I wake up my eyes are so dry my eyes sting for a while when the tears come or my eyelids feel puffy and sticky.
I have had trouble with my gas permeable contacts for years. They constantly get stuff stuck under them, and even when they don't, they feel dry most of the time. A few years ago I became unable to wear them for even a couple of hours before having to take them out. To make matters worse, I got a labradoodle puppy and two rabbits, all of whom have very long fine hairs that blow around in the air and basically weave themselves through my eyelashes and around my lenses! And the last few months of 2022 I was not able to wear my lenses for a few minutes before they would completely blur and feel full of hair. I found a paper online detailing experiments with a simple topical lotion of saline, hyaluronic acid, castor oil, and an emulsifier. The lotion was applied to all the skin around the eyes, right up to the eyelashes. Then both the castor oil and the HA penetrated the lids and moistened the eye. Lotion was reapplied throughout the day as needed for comfort. I make cosmetics, so I had all these ingredients handy; for the saline I used Clear Conscience Contact Lens Solution, which contains a preservative. I made the lotion, put my lenses in, applied the lotion every few hours, and that day I wore my contacts the entire day without ever feeling like I had to remove them to clean hairs out of them. My vision was sharp, clear, and bright. I thought it was just my optimistic imagination, but honestly it's pretty hard to fool myself, using just my mind, into believing that stabbing pain in my eyes is not real! I found that the first few days I had to apply the lotion about 3 or 4 times, but now I only put it around my eyes in the morning and before bed. I have been using the lotion for two months and have been able to wear my lenses without even noticing them, from the time I wash in the morning til I take off my mascara at night. The occlusive covers are a great idea, but I can't imagine them being tolerable for everyone. The lotion has the advantage that it can protect the eyes all day as well as at night. Here's the basic formula: preserved saline (Clear Conscience Contact Lens Solution) 0.5% hyaluronic acid 1% castor oil 0.5% PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil to emulsify Shake well before each use I then tried a new formulation, based on other papers, including the above ingredients plus added flaxseed oil, on the grounds that the omega-3 fatty acids in flax are anti inflammatory. I don't think it was an improvement, and my eye area seems to be sensitive to flax oil, but your mileage may vary.
They say if you put in ointment right before you apply there is a chance it could cause it to be not as adhesive to the skin. I tried it, and it still worked fine for me. This would be more adhesive and breathable compared to the press n seal... same type of treatment though. Long term I would probably go with this, or use EyeLocc which is also similar.
I could see someone thinking "I'll just use some scotch tape. No different." I'm sure there are some risk factors for using something like that. What do you think are done of those risks of just using normal tape?
Good question. Some people can be sensitive or allergic to the adhesive in scotch tape. It's also not as breathable, so it would be bad for the skin to wear all night. Also it may not stick as well all night. Now, something like Nexum skin tape would be super close to the sleep tite/sleep rite adhesives, just not specifically designed for the eyelids.
Thank you demonstrating this. My eye doctor just gave me a couple samples. I have palsy to my left side of my face. I have a eye plate inserted in the eye lid which helps me to close my eye some what but at night it doesn’t stay closed. I’m going to try the strips but I’m concerned about the tape pulling on the skin covering the plate. Does this pull hard on the skin when you are taking this off? Can you use water to loosen it before you pull it off? Love all your videos.
I haven't ever tried the nictavi patches before. I'm curious how well it could seal the eye. My eyelashes never came off... but I don't know how they would work with eyelash extensions. 🙂
So, my daughter is 18 months old, she had her ptosis surgery when she was 12 months old, she still don't close her eyes while sleeping. Cornea is exposed, we use eye gel in night. Will this work for her? A small toddler ( add on - she has additional strabiamus, interneuclear opthalmoplagiea, amblyopia)
Wouldn't an eye mask usually close people's eyelids? Meaning if an eyemask doesn't really help, this wouldn't really help either? I'm not certain, just wondering.
Eye masks are breathable and still allow the tears to evaporate. They do make eye "goggles" but if sleep on your side the goggles will create eye pressure... but the tape eliminates all the discomfort and seals eye or eyes shut.
Good question. I have found this works better than a sleep mask as far as keeping the eye closed all night. It would probably depend on the sleep mask used.
I have glaucoma so a tight fitting sleep mask isn't advisable. I do use a sleep mask designed to not press against my eyes. Still, I find my eyes will open under the mask during the night.
@@lifecloud2 I wear sleep googles, but suspect my eyes are open a bit under there, so may try this. I would put this under googles for double protection.
I am not in USA and can't find this specific product, would any regular tape work just as well? lets say paper tape or something similar which is typical for medical uses
Its not sealed though at all. I have Bell’s palsy and extremely deepset eyes if i put that on my lower lid will creep in and under and scratch my eyeball. I want a tight seal along lash line from inner corner to outer corner no pockets what so ever or my eye knows its open and wont let me sleep. Can this be done. Other medical does not work. Creates a tent lifting my lid off my eyeball because anchor points are much higher than eyeball. Anchor to the thin stretchy skin under my eye it just stretches it creating a more severe separation of lashline. I refuse to glue or sew my eyelid shut. Please i need a real solution (glad press and seal is not a solution)
What if you have. Ell’s palsy so the lid is fighting to open and you have severely sunken deep eyes. I could see a gap where your lash line is so that means for me my eye lid will creep up under the tape because my lid has no suction to the eyeball because its paralyzed open. How can you sleep very strong deep sunken eyes with Bell’s palsy ABSOLUTELY NO TAPE. Doctors here in Australia don’t care they want people to suffer and think health is no a right.
Thank you for telling us about this. This is something my eye doc asked me because I have Sjogrens and RA and super dry eyes (and my son has slept with his eyes open for years) Now I sleep with an eye mask every night.
I had Trans-PKR eye correction and it been about my 6 week and after my medication on using eye ointment stop, the dry eye been bad only when I wake up. I think I also don't fully close my eye when I sleep which probably cause the dry eyes. I try blinking more and doing 10 sec eye squeeze when closing but it help on during the day. Since I'm recommended not to rub my eye until my next appointment and my doctor said to only use eye drop every 3-4 hour since it use to be every 30min. If it feel too dry I use the eye drop. I just bought eye mask idk if it will work. If my vision okay and I'm able to rub my eye I'll try Sleep Tite/Sleep Rite.
Maybe I can make a shorts video about it. I have a long list of long form content that I trying to get done, so might be a while. But I could possibly make a shorts video sooner.
I've had this for a decade. I have tried taping before but found it uncomfortable. Would still try these though. After trying everything, best combo is polyvisc ointment (woolfat based preservative free)before bed then put on Eye Eco Onyix sleep mask, it fits tight keeping a high moisture, blacked out environment.
I use press and seal from glad . Does the same thing to seal your eyes. But mine are still dry no matter what I do . And it's not good for since I can't see at night
@@AndreTownsel25 Depends on the cause. It's an antibiotic, so my guess for the use would possibly be for blepharitis, which contributes to dry eyes... so erythromycin could help. However, there are many other and likely better treatments out there for that condition and for treating dry eyes.
Unbelievable I have dry eyes, so dry infact that I have tarsoraphies in both eyes. Yet my eyes are still chronically dry as my lids still do not close properly. I have toyed with using tape to shut my lids at night, and now someone has produced a product to do it. Might give them a dry if they can be sourced here .

Asking for a friend 😂
Sounds ike a great way to lose eye lashes.
Have you seen the NICTAVI tarsus patches? I don’t think I’d trust that over lash extensions… you are brave!
I haven't ever tried the nictavi patches before. I'm curious how well it could seal the eye. My eyelashes never came off... but I don't know how they would work with eyelash extensions. 🙂
Any similar solution that is delivered in europe? Thanks
6:18 Doctor, I bought corneal drops to reduce redness without preservatives from an online pharmacy. Can I use them without consulting a doctor???
So, my daughter is 18 months old, she had her ptosis surgery when she was 12 months old, she still don't close her eyes while sleeping. Cornea is exposed, we use eye gel in night. Will this work for her? A small toddler ( add on - she has additional strabiamus, interneuclear opthalmoplagiea, amblyopia)
Would eye sleep masks be equal?
I have sleep apnea, so I need to look at..
Hi doctor where can I get tape at?
Would this product be good for keeping CPAP mask air out?
It would be worth a try for sure. You would just want to make sure the mask wouldn't bump on the tape and push it up.
@@KillerKatProductions Thank you!
Do you think it might help also to remove eyebag?
I come to Walmart and there are no SLEEPTITE , SLEEPMITE. Where can I get SLEEPTITE ?
Right now it's only online unfortunately. I put the links in the description of the video.
Thank you so much for this video ! Would a sleep eye mask work the same as the tape?
Good question. I have found this works better than a sleep mask as far as keeping the eye closed all night. It would probably depend on the sleep mask used.
I have glaucoma so a tight fitting sleep mask isn't advisable. I do use a sleep mask designed to not press against my eyes. Still, I find my eyes will open under the mask during the night.
@@lifecloud2 I wear sleep googles, but suspect my eyes are open a bit under there, so may try this. I would put this under googles for double protection.
What kind of sleep goggles do you use?
Is there a link between CPAP usage and dry eyes?
Yes, if the cpap leaks. On another level, dry eyes can be linked with Sleep apnea as well.
@@DrEyeGuy thank you! I will speak to both doctors. And thank thank you for your informative videos
Great idea. Thank you so much.
Doctor recommended to also change my prescription (10 months after I got new glasses ) if the tears don't work. Does this makes sense ?
I'm not sure... your doctor is recommending change you glasses prescription if your dry eye treatment doesn't work?
@@DrEyeGuy yes that's correct but it's not making sense to me
To manage dry eyes I take cod liver oil each day.
Thanks for coming up with New things about Eyes.
I have been following you for long time. Appreciate your efforts 👌.
Thank you. I just like to learn as much as I can, so I can have options for my patients.
I am not in USA and can't find this specific product, would any regular tape work just as well? lets say paper tape or something similar which is typical for medical uses
Skin tape would work. You could also try the Glad Press N Seal
@@DrEyeGuy I will try it. how can i send you a small donation? i love your videos.
@@videofrat3115 just watching my videos and commenting is donation enough. Thank you!
Please i need a real solution (glad press and seal is not a solution)
any comment on Zocular? have you tried it yet?
I haven't tried it yet unfortunately.
What aaboud catteraggs
I Scrub lashes with yes, palmolive, then I use similisan, eye drops, but yes the eye tape sounds good.
I use the Similisan eye drops too for dry eyes. This brand is really the best I've found.
What is the name?
So does the eye eventually correct the dryness after wearing this so long if this was the issue causing it?
Thankyou 👍👍👍👍❤️
I've found that my problem was pre-diabetes and when I don't eat sugar I don't have dry eye...
So not eating sugar is a win-win scenario for you..... helps with dry eyes and your diabetes.
Please please please please heterochromia eyes make video 🇮🇳
Maybe I can make a shorts video about it. I have a long list of long form content that I trying to get done, so might be a while. But I could possibly make a shorts video sooner.
@@DrEyeGuy ok thanks 🙏brother 😘🙏🇮🇳
I've had this for a decade. I have tried taping before but found it uncomfortable. Would still try these though.
After trying everything, best combo is polyvisc ointment (woolfat based preservative free)before bed then put on Eye Eco Onyix sleep mask, it fits tight keeping a high moisture, blacked out environment.
If you try it, let me know how it goes. I would be curious how you would compare it to your ointment and mask method. Thanks for commenting!
I use press and seal from glad . Does the same thing to seal your eyes. But mine are still dry no matter what I do . And it's not good for since I can't see at night
I tried the press and seal, and it was a little irritating to my skin.
I just got dry eye like last week it feels like something's in my eye I need a treatment to get rid of this
Hopefully you can find the fix!
@@DrEyeGuy how effective is Erythromycin Ophthalmic for dry eye
@@AndreTownsel25 Depends on the cause. It's an antibiotic, so my guess for the use would possibly be for blepharitis, which contributes to dry eyes... so erythromycin could help. However, there are many other and likely better treatments out there for that condition and for treating dry eyes.
Massage eyelids helps
Try MSM liquid eye drops .
It's $40 a month for the 30 day supply. 😮
It's not advertised for dry eyes though. But I guess it works.
Brother please make next video on heterochromia eyes 🙏🇮🇳🙏🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳 thank you
Could you email me about using your video in a shorts? My email is in the description.
Thank you! I just ordered mine. I think 35 yrs of wearing contacts, working on a computer for 18 yrs and having MS haven't done my poor dry eyes any favors either added to the "sandpaper eyes" in the morning. I have the Bruder heat mask, eyelid cleaner and spray as well as Refresh drops but have been searching for a mask to wear at night, holding my eyes closed...then I saw this video! I will let you know! I've had this problem for many years and can not afford $500 per mo for Restasis. Willing to try anything. 😊

Are you asking how to treat your dry eyes? Have you been to an eye doctor about it yet?
Yes I went to an ophthalmology in Baytown tx they couldn't find the answer what's wrong with my eyes my eyes are very irritating me I paid them 300 dollars up front all they gave me was an antibiotic and it didn't even work I really just want vision back doctor
can't you just do eye masks? or just tape it?
You could try skin tape. Eye masks is also an option, but likely won't work as well.
Press n seal works better and far cheaper. You’re paying $3 a night to sleep with these
Great tips! Great profesional. Thanks!
Thank you. 🙂
