For anyone switching audiences I thought I’d give you a positive (but difficult) story. My page used to be at 30k and it was 90% men who followed me. I’m a fitness and body acceptance account and I wanted to attract women. It took me a year or so to fully shift my audience, engagement dropped, all my metrics dropped and I was getting the same amount of follows as unfollows (the men were leaving and women were following) now a year or so later my page just hit 100k with a 90% female audience. My business is thriving. It was soooo worth it.
This is encouraging!!! Thank you! My page initially jumped off with the "Empty House Tour" back in 2022. I was just excited about building a house and wanted to share it. Then I got a BUNCH of follows and immediately thought..."oh no, this isn't why I started this channel." So as of late, I've refocused my content on who I REALLY am. My metrics have definitely taken a dip. Watch time hours are going backward, but I'm going to hang in there.
@sportybeth Is there anything in particular you did that u think changed ur audience? Or did u keep posting and kinda hope for the best? U said u took about a year so I’m guessing u were really persistent?! 👍🏻 I’m in your former situation… trying to transition and hoping to get more women followers as well ✨ ty!!
Same. Our channel is about teenage girls dancing and initially the youtube algorithm kept pushing our content to middle aged men (for obvious reasons)... Took forever to change it and the channel was dead for nearly a year! (thanks, youtube algorithm!). Now the channel is finally grwing again, but the algorithm has also started pushing it to older men again :(
I followed the steps that you mention Jade and can say that it does pay off. In 12 days I have gone from having 0 subscribers to 56,000. Taking time to understand what content you are putting out and how to get it to the right people is so important, something that I am still learning! Loved how you broke it down!
I know for my niche of Deaf Ministry, there's really only two other channels that are doing it actively, but not consistently. I know of Deaf Missions and Deaf Millenial Project. I also know of ASLbytheLight (I think that's right), that's affiliated with Billy Graham, but they said because I'm hearing and not Deaf they wouldn't want me on their team. So I know at least on that front, that door is closed, but maybe the Deaf Millenial Project would be willing to collaborate. I may wait until my following is a little bit larger before asking. 💞 Deaf Ministry is pretty much an untouched mission field. 98% of deaf/hard-of-hearing individuals within the Deaf Community have never learned anything about the gospel. I'm determined to change that. 😊 I know it will take time, but I trust God's plan for everything. 🙌✝️
My videos don’t do too well with regards to the niche i want… but when i do content that is not usual for my channel, they do well. But i still don’t get a lot of comments… so now im lost lol
Jade doing without lunch to make this video shows how awesome she is. Another fantastic video explaining how to get people to see your content on social media. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕 Jade.
Thank you soo much! My content is about the witchery witchcraft and paranormal, all my viewers are more from tiktok so its hard for them to even find me, but i gotta keep pushing.
My problem is that my target audience is transitory. I am in the bridal industry. I own a bridal salon. So I do not have recurring customers. I get word of mouth and referrals. Like, I will get a bride and she will maybe bring her sister or friends or other family members in the future. This is usually years apart. Typically, some past brides WILL continue to follow us and engage with some of the content. I also need other wedding vendors to share our content with their audiences. We sometimes do collaborative style shoots. It’s very difficult building an audience when it is usually only relevant to them for a year or so.
If you don't mind a stranger's input 😅 I don't think it's about growing a following for you, it's more about reaching new people. You have a physical business so you're relying on reaching local people to get them in the door and that requires a different tactic than an online store would have. Your strongest ally in reach is tagging your post with your location, and making sure your SEO always includes your town, county, region etc. With permission, share customers content regularly. Get active and collab with anyone in the local area brides also use - catering, cake makers, hire companies, florists, venues, tux rentals, printers etc and encourage sharing between each other. Interact on each others feeds, follow each other. All of that should be enough to keep you in front of new customers, who are your true target audience. Hope that's helpful! 🙏 😊
Thank you for this video. My niche switched from makeup/beauty to internal beauty and self improvement. I truly wish more content creators would want to collab with one another and help each other out. I’m still hopeful that my channel will get the attention it deserves ❤️❤️ Happy new year!🎊

Hello Jade, Can I reference you with your content about "trends for 2024" in a video I'm making? Also, if you agree, I will put a link for your video in my description box. I'm not targeting your audience, but going to use the explanation you gave about how social media is trending towards uniqueness. Thanks for all you do!
Thanks Jade, I love your videos because they are always packed with value. Now, I don’t know whether this still applies to my type of content l where I am trying to document my life so I don’t really know a specific audience that would be interested in my content consistently. I am stuck.
As an clotting online boutique which will lunched ver soon, how to reach my niche and build my build my followers base, content? What kind of content will help with that ? Thank you❤️
The youtube algorithm is a nightmare these days. You can do ALL this and the algorithm might still just decide to ignore your content... end of story. I have good clickrates, high AVD, many subs. People love our content, the algorithm hates it... somehow. So it's unlikely we'll ever grow and ever get monetized
Send signals to the algorithm, of course!!! Except the youtube algorithm is just too dumb to understand anything other than Mr.Beast and other big channels :/ I've been telling the algorithm for 18 months what my target audience is with everything I post on the channel, but the algorithm still doesn't get it.... It was a lot worse, so it is slowly learning. But even so, an algorithm still not uderstanding after 18 months and 400 video's that my content is about teenage girls dancing and the target audience is therefore mainly teenage and YA girls? Insane.... Currently all I do is create content for an algorithm, not for an audience... and it is AWFUL. It is working... I went from 500 subs to over 1K in just a few weeks, but I would want to create content for an audience, not for an algorithm...

Hi Jade. Thank you for this video. My public view hours don't match my analytics for my public videos. Am I missing something? Thank you! 💞💜
I usually find value. But this one was quite complicated for me.
I don't even know what to do anymore, I've actually been told my content is high quality yet my reach is 💩 and I post consistently smfh
Thank you for sharing, because I am definitely struggling with getting monitiezed
My problem is my target audience is everyone. Weather affects us all so what do I do?
