just found this vid. The year I graduated from HS (1973) we dug out the basement of our farm home by hand. Huge undertaking! The dirt was so dry it was like concrete. We used a jackhammer with asphalt bit to loosen it up and then threw it to the side, where we had a backhoe scoop it out. My dad and I spent the entire winter working down there. It certainly paid off. I still live here. Yeah, we did our own construction. Modified more dairy barns and machine sheds than I can count. Looks great!
Digging it out yourself? Dude, children exist for a reason 😉 I've done a few large remodeling projects on my old house and the feeling of accomplishment when they were done was HUGE. Keep your eye on the goal and don't get discouraged
My 100 year old crawlspace has just dirt and no footing..just brick and some 1920s concrete blocks that have weathered away... I'm STARTING next year on it by MYSELF...
Can't wait until it's done. The landlord renoed my apartment, it only took 9 days, but I couldn't move out because I was waiting for medical appointments and didn't want the cats running off.
I started watching for the cool cars, but I find the basement project every bit as interesting. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. What's next, a garage teardown/rebuild with an underground walkway to the ping pong room (hint hint)?? Whatever it is, it will be interesting, exciting, and Stella, the girls, Mrs. 2stroketurbo will love it (as will most of us).
Dang. Matt reisinger has a video where he shows a buddy of his doing a basement. When he gets to the vapor barrier part they use spray foam to both insulate and create a vapor barrier. Then they pour concrete on top. I feel like that method would have worked well here considering the heating pipes they ran through the slab.
Since its your master bedroom it should be your personal bathroom as well. Not having that small hallway between the two would have made the bedroom bigger.
Yes quite silly of you to think you could do that all alone. But, I knew a guy who did his basement by himself. A little bit bigger than this. But then again...he's a little off!
We respect you. As a company that does basement digouts every week. This is no task for one man haha. You sir are a legend

I bet its a good feeling to know everything under your house is solid and done right. That’s a good sized project.

Very Nice
The master in the basement not a bad idea, your own space and away from the kids.

YOOO CAN DOOO IT!!!!! 😎

Great job and twice the space of the old house!
Is there an updated video showing the finished basement… looks great 👍
Can't wait to see the finished product.
hi, curious if you can provide me with the technical details for the heated floor - the electrical requirements, how hard is it to install, etc.

Now's a good time to make sure the hot and cold water lines aren't too close together. People do get this wrong and it's expensive to fix.
Excellent video
Looks great.
Wow! That's a huge project Mark, do you ever sleep? Very happy for you guys. Thanks for all the great and interesting videos.
😚
Looks good big job.
I dug out my basement with 5 gallon buckets, next time I'll buy a different house. HAHA
🤭 same thing I’m thinking …
How much did it cost to have it dug?
Nice job !
A mystery pipe in the basement floor you say? If you didn't reenact The 'Burbs, you missed out.
You have a helper you could have done it your self by renting that MT85. I am digging mine by myself.
I hope you build some better stairs down the the basement !
very nice project! just of curiosity - did you consider to insulate the floor (like polystyrene etc.) before pouring concrete?
Thats what im saying
As someone over 6ft with a low basement ceiling I'm jealous!
Time for some steel lolly columns and footings those temp 4bys are scratchy
Install a french drain form for water
@@rsprockets7846 water table is 100 feet down, we don't have that problem thankfully.
@@2stroketurbo water runoff from house and roof downspouts????? You get soakers there right.....
Thankfully no issues never been wet yet
They make remote-controlled loaders that size.

So worth it
...I must admit i was sweating until i saw the 'I' beam/H girder...

Called a skid steer.
If you have gas hot water and teens in the house you should look into "on demand " hot water system.
Why dont you use copper piping for the water ?
Was there any insulation under the slab?
How much did this cost you?
Looks like a nice place to store Subaru 360s.
I know I couldn't get approval from management.😁...but I did suggest it
Nice , How much did it cost to have it dug?
Are you gonna bury the Subaru 360.??
One thing I will suggest: don't connect the heating control to the Internet. I'm serious.
So your paying 7c k/w/h is that right 🤨.
2:50 man vs car
too mutch wood
Now you got to stop playing with your cars and start fixing more costumers cars to make money to pay for this all
No kidding.
