I usually take a left on Lost Hills road and drive for 26 min towards Paso Robles and hit 101 and continue from there on towards bay area. I add 30-40 min extra to my drive but I like driving along Salinas better than the I-5
So I did something even more crazy but a day before you. I drove down from the Bay Area to Sunset Blvd exit on 405 to pick up a college student, waited three hours, and then drove back to the Bay Area on the same day. Left the Bay at 9:30AM and got back at 1:00AM. Repeated the same thing on Sunday. The drive is typically okay but because of the rain / mist and rubberneckers, it took longer than necessary.
@@JessiqaPaceRealtor Thanks. Did not want to go through the hassle of staying in a hotel and the $$$ savings was another motivator. That said, the student will be flying here on out other than moving in and out. It was simply too taxing for me but knowing that I survived that does surprise me. By the way, I did miss the 5/99 juncture. It rerouted me to drive local and ended up in Buttonwillow, the infamous "Taste of India" exit, to get back onto 5. It's not the end of the world but you do lose around 20 minutes.
Cool
