I play Eleven ping pong religiously. As somebody that enjoys the whole first person military games and all....nothing compares to how much fun I have with those simple, casual-consumer games. I haven't personally tried beat saber yet. YET.
but I am totally in that market of games. I love games like that.

That Foxus looks very similar to the Stereolabs Zed Mini, which was deisigned to work with the old Oculus CV1 (yeah, ZED Mini is like 5 years old). The ZED Mini works amazingly well, unfortunately its hardware has never been upgraded, so is only 720p per eye (and requires an nVidia GPU), but their specialty is software, it has full realtime depth occlusion at 60fps, 3D world scanning, and their software SDK is constantly getting better.

I've been a VR developer since the beginning and Audio Shield VR way back in 2016 was before Beat Saber as far as VR releases go. I remember a bunch of people at the office playing it on the VIVE. Basically the same game, but for some reason, Beat Saber just executed on the idea much better and that was the one that ended up exploding.

Colored passthrough would be amazing on the quest, it would add that next level of immersion to vr, and for not very much money, if you would only buy the cambria because of the colored passtrhough (i was thinking of doing so), now you don't have to, and you can save yourself hundreds.

When videos games came out...people said, " it'll rot your brain. Make you lazy and stupid." But being a gamer for 38years, i can tell you, games do so much more that that. People don't want to hear or think it's just bullshit to justify being a gamer, BUT, video games build intelligence, Problem Solving, Memory, Hand eye coordination, reflexes and critical thinking.
Sure, beat saber doesn't do all that. No game does ALL OF THAT...but GAMES do. Beat saber, helps with memory. These people who get play on Expert++ , play those maps so much, they're memorized. Then there's hand eye coordination, that's a given with VR, but it's more than that, it's the insane reflexes needed to play at those speeds. Even on Hard the game can be challenging with some maps.
People should really appreciate what playing video games can do for their brain. You're never too old to start either.

The hard part on that is it's a soft skin- instead of solid, it's squishy and can be moved. In theory, you might be able to triangulate a position in the middle of the hand, but you would need about 6 cams, one next to another for stereo vision, and then it's possible.
It's possible on a solid controller, because you know where the cams are in relation to another. That's what's needed.

It doesn't get old for me and it's been doing wonders for my arms/shoulders/chest and my general weight loss and fitness goals. Also constantly competing with my friends to try to beat their high scores. Right now I can beat songs that have a speed of up to a little more than 5 blocks a second. Expert mostly and Expert+ a little is where I'm at after 2 months, I started on Normal. I have some coworkers convinced to get the Quest 2 because of Beat Saber alone.

I am absolutely addicted to Beat Saber, and for so many reasons. Fitness is of course one of those. It’s exhilarating to be getting in physical activity in such a fun way. On top of that, the songs are incredibly catchy, and it’s truly just something else to be dancing and grooving and moving to the beat in such an immersive and stunning virtual environment. It feels insanely rewarding to play, even though the game doesn’t actually provide any rewards. I religiously played custom songs, but recently updated just to see the newer OST and block types. I’m still holding on for Beat Games to bring back modding for the most recent update. Because it kills me to have to sacrifice the awesome new features and aesthetic for the entertaining songs that aren’t put out as DLC. Though I suppose I would very easily stick to the newer versions if they added AJR songs as DLC and finally brought in the different sabers they teased so long ago. Seriously, when on earth is that coming?!?!

Let this be a lesson.. If you see a spike in PCVR numbers, that's almost definitely not a real thing. Why would there be a spike? Last time there was a game worth getting into PCVR for was Alyx in 2020. I doubt there will be any kind of growth spurt for at least the next few years. Hardware is too expensive, PCs are too expensive.. And PSVR2 is coming out and will become the de facto headset for people who don't want the Quest.
PCVR is undead. It's going to shamble around for a long while before it ever gets traction again, if it ever does. If cloud VR takes off and works decently, that's going to be the end of PCVR.
IMO, VR tethered to a PC makes only marginally more sense than a cell phone tethered to a PC.

I’m new to VR . I’m also old but I’m hoping this will get me off the couch. Ive never played Saber. I’ve only watched videos on it. I think it’s popular because…
    1- it’s a simple game that’s easy to learn
2- you quickly improve if you play it
3- it’s fun to play and it challenges you
    4- it’s visually appealing
    5- it’s affordable

For sportsball I would love to see NFL and MBA put out some kind of subscription app so we can watch games live and "in person" I wouldn't mind paying $20-$30 for a season pass for a selected team to watch live games "from the stand" or $100 for an all access pass. They have so many cameras on the field they could easily make a 3D model of the game that you could fly around and see every angle, rewind, slow mo, every play of the game.

Semi-competitive rhythm game player here (Sound Voltex for the most part). Beat saber is an amazing game and one of my favorite games on the Quest. Yes, it's simple, but so are literally all rhythm games in terms of technicality. They're mostly just buttons that you play in time with music. So what if it's not the most immersive or demanding game, but who cares. It's still extremely fun. Modding is the main reason the community is so big; it's the same as Clone Hero. Practically everything is fan made and people are easily able to make charts for their fave songs. It's also super simple so it's a great gateway into the broader world of VR. It's a fun, simple, low skill floor game that is based on one of the most popular things in the world, music. It has gotten so many people interested in VR, and you can't talk about the history of consumer/gaming VR without talking about that game. It's easily one of the most influential games in the VR community, and it's so popular because it deserves to be for everything it has done for the community.

Yo Mysticle there's probably a way to do pcvr with one computer on different wifis. Basically I'm trying to use hamachi vpn which allows you to connect to one computer. But the VR headset has to be a phone and can be anykind like android or iphone. Also i have not tried it on oculus quest 2 which you can probably find a way. Its kinda like cloud vr but for free. But I need to do a stress test on it on a different wifi. If anyone is willing give me a reply. It has to be a wifi not a hotspot. But if you want to try it Mysticle you can probably do a video on it! Message me if you need help.

Yes we need new rhythm game for VR. I like beat saber and buy quest 2 mainly for beat saber play it daily and like it alot but i think we need something like real rhythm game. Beat arena sucks and I don't have any suggestions. Probably the touch feedback isn't there like traditional rhythm game

Major deal breaker for the colored pass though. It uses the USB port. Can't use external battery. Decreasing VR time

I'm betting that the cambria will be more like 1000 euro maybe 1200 if exchange exchange rates I looked up were right. Somewhere in the ballpark of $1500 CAD.

I have never modded BeatSaber, but it has still remained one of if not my favorite games for VR ever since I first got my Quest 1 and now Quest 2. I really love music generally and it is right up my ally. However, I do not have access to certain aspects of VR like SteamVR due to lack of hardware, so my selection in regards to games is more limited than some others.

So beatsaber, wow. Its the first vr game I ever played, cause my cousin wanted to show me it. So i literally begged my parents to get one and then about a year later for my birthday, I got one. And so i got beatsaber, then, I found the other games. Looking at beatsaber compared to something like, Saints and Sinners, I can see why some people think its boring, but its one of those games you'll keep coming back too

Beatsaber is a great fun game to play. It is far from boring to me. I'm not really any good at it but that does not matter I have fun playing it. And it can provide a good workout while having fun.
The color pass through on the Quest 2 will be great. Looking forward to that.

I feel like beat saber is the most popular of any VR game because it's one where you pretty much get the most presence. In other words, if you were really playing something like beat saber in real life, your body would be moving just about the same way it does while you're playing the VR game. It's a one to one correlation, and I can't wait until we have the tech to make every vr game that immersive

Like the Proverb goes "simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", Beat Saber isn't my type of game, but I can see why it's popular; It combines music and exercise two things that go hand in hand.
