I thought this wouldn't apply to me, since I'm becoming a Minimalist. However, I did get some good tips, because you still can have nice collections AND be a Minimalist! Thanks guys! And, fyi, Peter, you seem so happy these days, you're almost giddy. I LOVE it! You make me laugh and smile.
Thank you for sharing this. I have a Barbie collection that was taking over my living room. I downsized and only have one display curio case in living room with my most special old dolls from the 70's. I also have another case in my bedroom area. I love the dolls but I don't want them taking over the entire house. My books are the same way. The one in one out rule is helping me also.
Just enjoy your stuff. Disasters can destroys everything in seconds. I put like with like in 13 gallons RubberMaids, and then give them a #, note contents, box #, and use an index card box to locate your stuff. Use stuff to barter, when money is worthless. Know everything can be destroyed in seconds, so enjoy. Do not have a nasty home, with stuff all over the floor, and clean up After you animals, and limit them.
I only collect refrigerator magnets of places I've traveled to because they don't take up space, but even they can make the refrigerator look cluttered. Any suggestions?
+Laurie McMillan Ever thought of putting them in an album with a 3x5" card next to them with the best memory of that place. Leave it on a coffee table or similar where people (and you!) can browse and relive your travel experiences.
where are the examples? visuals? a lot of talk without showing - show me show me - good ideas but it would have been nice to see some "before & after" views for guides

I go through my book collection every so often and donate items I don't love anymore.
Plus more room for new books!

+Laurie McMillan Put out a few at a time and then rotate from time to time.
