    All these dogs are gorgeous, I do love watching dogs behave naturally within the pack, and watching them playing happily is such a joyful thing to witness, I could watch it all day. It’s beyond me, as a dog owner, how anyone could give up their dogs.
    I love all dogs, but I do have a soft spot for Pitbulls, Am Staffs and English Staffordshire Bull Terriers, all of whom are much maligned and unfairly judged. A well trained Pitbull or Staffy are the best, most loving and loyal dogs on the planet, but training is a continuous daily thing, you have to be consistent and on top of it, but some people are lazy, or ignorant to dog behaviours and miss most of the cues for those bad behaviours. It’s also such a shame a lot of people mistreat and abuse them so often.
    I do hope all these beautiful dogs get the loving and patient owners that they all deserve.

    • @DogPlaygroupStories
      @DogPlaygroupStories  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, they are. As for giving up dogs, a lot of people are having financial hardships and can't find a place to live that allows dogs, especially pitbulls who are notorious for being super affectionate wiggly butt babies. We have so many pit bulls at the shelter and they're wonderful dogs. If I was afraid of a dog breed, I'd probably be more afraid of German Shepherds. They're great dogs but need guidance and training.
      The volunteers and staff do amazing work to help these dogs and get them adopted.

      @@DogPlaygroupStories Yes, but there also seems to be a lot of hatred for pitbulls out there, by people who are convinced that they are land sharks and all need to be put down. The truth is, these beautiful dogs are more in danger of wicked, cruel and neglectful humans, than humans are of them, there is still a lot of fear and ignorance around pitbulls, and in my country, it’s the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and now the XL bully, that get targeted. Unfortunately, in the UK, they’ve banned pitbulls since the early 90’s and put down loads of them back then, and still do to this day if the police get hold of one, loads of responsible people who owned them were and are heartbroken that their dog had/has to be put down, but the truth is, they’re a wonderful dog and banning breeds is not the answer. Bringing in laws that would make people go through a training course, with a test at the end, before owing these types of breeds, or any dog for that matter would be a much better way of dealing with the problem, making sure people attend classes with their dog too, but that will never happen of course.
      The truth is, that there are too many people who get these breeds and then can’t handle them properly, or don’t know how to train them, or are too lazy to learn. They then neglect them or constantly leave them in the yard, or give them up to guys like you, if they’re lucky. I also sympathise with people who are made homeless and can’t find a place to live because of the landlords won’t allow dogs, but in my mind my dog is part of my family the same as my children are and would never give up my dogs for anything, where there’s a will there’s a way.
      BTW… all those dogs look so well and fit and above all they are happy. It is a delight to see them coming to the gate one at a time and all so exited to see their pals knowing they’re going to get to play with them for a few hours, it really warms the heart. You all do a great job of looking after them and rebuilding their confidence and trust. These dogs are amazing,

      The brown one annoys the tan one 😂 either that or really likes him? Question mark shaped tails held high was an interesting thing that concerned me at first but their mouths are open and relaxed and they are play bouncing. Super interesting.

      @DogPlaygroupStories  7 місяців тому

      @@Amy-dw7ii I think when one dog constantly pesters another dog, it seems to me that it's being overly interested in the dog. I see that all the time. Some dogs just want to be left alone. Some dogs want to play and get to know one or two particular dogs.

Teased, missing teeth it was so pity full. I spend a ton of money on them both males. I love them more than anything on this earth , they r so good 2 me as I am so good 2 them. They r very protective and I love it. As I sit on my couch 1 is wrapped in his blanket and the other is laying across my legs.

      I do all the video stuff, rake the yard, get the leashes made, and run the UA-cam channel. Hundreds of staff and volunteers walk the dogs, give them good medical care, help them get adopted, admit them into the shelter, evaluate their behavior, run the playgroups, and maintain the kennels, buildings, and grounds. And about 30 people from a contracting company clean the kennels and feed the dogs. It's a big operation.

      We very rarely have fights and there's a detailed protocol for avoiding them and for handling them when they happen. The group Dogs Playing for Life developed this program with about 400 shelters and it's based on a lot of experience with shelter dogs. Our shelter alone deals with thousands of dogs, many from bad homes or strays, so we have a lot of experience with handling bad behavior and the handlers are trained experts.

    I’m wondering why do y’all let the leashes drag all over the dirty ground? Why not tuck them so they don’t drag? They are being stepped on the by dogs, dragged through pee, dirt and poop and by the time the owner comes back those things are too filthy to touch. This is how people get sick. Just gross and lazy on the staffs part.

    • @DogPlaygroupStories
      @DogPlaygroupStories  8 місяців тому +3

      This is actually an animal shelter and not a dog daycare. There are no owners, just very dedicated staff and volunteers. We need the leashes dragging for safety reasons (you'll see additional explanation in other comments on these videos).. I take them home and wash them after each session.

      This is the county animal shelter, not a dog daycare. The staff are very well trained and handle many thousands of shelter dogs. We have world class dog experts at the shelter and I've spent as much time as I can learning from them, as well as going through a 5-day training session with the people who pioneered dog playgroups in animal shelters and rolled them out to over 400 shelters. They are very skilled and their results are amazing. Watching this video at 32:11, I didn't see anything particularly surprising. It's interesting that a small percentage of comments consist of people claiming that people in the video are doing something terrible. I do sometimes see minor mistakes that handlers make, but yet the complaints in comments have only once actually identified an actual [minor] mistake in handling. This wasn't one of them.

      We have 400+ shelter dogs and have been running playgroups with thousands of dogs over several years, with extensive training by Dogs Playing for Life who pioneered safe and effective dog shelter playgroups. Based on my experience over the last 2 years with shelter dogs, there's no way I would run a playgroup without the leashes on all but dogs that have demonstrated that they both give and receive corrections well, they are not conflict driven at all, and that they can be retrieved easily when needed even if dog emotions are running high in the playgroup. You should see what can happen when they *don't* have leashes.
