♦️This song performed during BTS early 2016 Epilogue tour in Japan, is about when any relationship, like even friendship, or bt family, is built on a weak foundation, like a “house of cards” (which Jin was trying to build during opening part of BTS Run song, which got knocked down ever so easily) it will be so easy to fall, tumble down, song was part of their HYYH songs (2015 - 2017) from au era, about experiences while growing up. Most all their songs back in early yrs was about all the hardships, struggles, frustrations, disappointments, one has to survive while growing up.
Also BTS sang “House of Cards” right after performing both “Tomorrow” as well as “Butterfly” with aside from equally amazing vocals, also full on intense, absolutely incredibly, ever so breathtakingly spectacular dancing with non stop choreography throughout those songs! This is why they all looked a bit sweaty, while performing “House of Cards”! Being able to perform so phenomenally amazing non stop during all 3 songs, is what puts BTS so on another level in so many ways, for so many reasons, aside from all 3 songs being equally some of my all time fav, most amazing songs ever, from BTS! The HYYH era (one of my most favs), was such an amazing era, though loved all their songs beforehand as well. Actually every era is so special in its own way 👍❤️🔥😍🔥

That is a very insightful interpretation. Since debut they had a series of encouraging results like winning “best new artist” awards but they were tempered by several disappointing ones, like some tracks not doing as well as they had hoped, causing uncertainty and worries. At the time, their fandom was steadily growing but they still hadn’t securely “made it” in their very competitive industry. Their company was struggling financially and might not have been able to sustain them for too much longer. They had just achieved their first music show win a few months before this song was released so their future as a group had been very much on shaky ground. Things had started to steadily look up with the album trilogy this song is part of but due to the nature of the music industry and of fame in general, their hard work and everything they had built together could still collapse around them at any time. Therefore, the members (and company staff) trying to reassure and/or entreat each other to not give up yet and hold on to their dreams of success a bit longer even though an ending (disbandment) might be looming is a very plausible underlying explanation.

The vocal line is amazing and they can hand of to one another better than any group I've ever heard
This is such an emotional song and the vocal line knows how to wrench every ounce of emotion out of it. I think V and Jimin were 21 and JK still only 18 when they sang at this concert. I understand that they had just finished an energetic set when they had to calm down and control their voices for this. You can see how sweaty their hair is. The thing which sets the BTS vocal line apart is the unique colour of each of their voices. Jimin has that wonderful 'crying' aspect to his voice, V the liquid deep tones, JK has the power and confidence to scat sing and Jin has the ability to hit incredibly high notes. Add to all that the wonderful cello accompaniment and you have the perfect ballad. Thank you for reacting to this incredible song.

I see where you are coming from, but it's one of those (very rare) songs, where there is zero sexiness in sight. Zero, zilch, nada. It's about emotions, but that's about it. It's very introspective. They're really good at this duality. It's a fricking masterpiece! 💜

So many times, their songs get interpreted as simple love songs or appealing to the public or just pop or ... That's not it. And now you have a song before you which is emotional, no love interest, no sexiness, just pure humans. Also, understand it in the context it came out in. It's raw and very vulnerable, but not sexy at all! 💜
