@@7of475 Considering the fact that (according to Tachanka) crossbows in arknights are about as powerful as guns at certain ranges... I think that's a little more than 50 pounds...
Granted it's a smaller crossbow, but the fact that your average Arknights crossbow can't even be drawn by a Russian strongman makes you think.
@@dragonfell5078 Iirc, Tachanka was talking about Schwarz' crossbow (since that's what was around, no?), which may or may not be one of the most intense crossbows in Terra (plus, the muscles needed to pull back the strings of a crossbow are very different from the ones that Tachanka would likely have built up). That said, on an average, AK crossbows are probably more than 50 pounds all the same.

I use to think the more elaborate animations for the crossbow are for the newer operators. It's interesting how detailed the crossbow animation for Greythroat is~
Greythroat definitely has the coolest one!
I like how Arknights lets us see how modern combat is done with medieval weapons. The most of the clothing seems to be made for the modern battlefield, and most weapons have a state-of-the-art design, even magic staves. I literally have been thinking Andreana’s crossbow as a rifle this whole time, and I’d never thought Mudrock with that hazmat looking suit would wield a hammer
It's a cool kinda mix of tech and magic! Sort of like Shadowrun!
I also find it interesting how most of the crossbow operators can just work these heavy crossbows with ease.
While a normal human (Tachanka) visibly struggled with Shwarz's crossy. It could imply however that Anachiel is as strong as a full grown human. But is a teenager.
It's truly wild how much different Terrans are to 'humans'
I like Fartooth's reload animation the most. Her hand-held ballista takes the cake in exaggerating the wind-up process.
As for the other crossbowmen, they might just be using repeating crossbows or their reload animations are cut off. Adnachiel, Kroos, Blue Poison, etc can be excused since they were released in the game early imo.

I think in terms of realism, fartooth takes the cake for me. Her reload time feels much more realistic and human compared to greythroat's rapid reload bolts ( i know that it has to do with her class having slow atk speed and greythroat's being the opposite, but my point stands animation wise )
I find kroos alter crossbow quite interesting. Looks like a semi-automatic crossbow which the bow recock to cocking position after each shot. Yet she also attach a bayonet under.
In addition, greythroat used automatic crossbow, which she mentioned that when against Faust in main story iirc.
That's just so she can give em a right proper wollop!

I love Fartooth crossbow ever since i see its inspiration in JeorgSprave's channel.
Its sad we didn't see more modern cocking mechanism for crossbows in Arknights such as the lever operated one.
Maybe someday with a new op!
And honestly I don't know about that channel but I'll check it out.

This thought just popped in my mind recently. Do some of the crossbowmen use Arts to reload? Pretty sure it would be easier than shooting guns like a Sankta does in Terra since they only need one or two actions to draw the string back using mechanisms specific to their crossbow.
I suppose that might work.
If guns could need complex arts, maybe some crossbows just need simpler arts.
Fun fact: andreana's weapon isn't a crossbow, it's closer to a paintball gun
Well, it does fire her ink balls but it's still categorized as one, as is said on her Archive File 3.

Seems like several people connected it to that channel, I'll check it out for sure.
If yostar try to update the reload animation for most of the operator sprite, most of the crossbow would be a repeater kind of crossbow, specially for those operator that doesn't have quiver with them.
Maybe in the future we can get a general animation update perhaps.

as seen on Andreana's skin she might be using a pneumatic propulsion system on her crossbow which may be why it lacks a pulley system and has the capacity to be fed with either a magazine or clip

Surprisingly, the only boss to wield a crossbow, faust, also pulls back his string, but the origin of the arrow is still unknown, but the basic enemies from il siracusano and code of brawl do not, which is a shame. There might be more, so feel free to correct me
But however, there is an in-game answer to this, as since most people cannot use a gun, as they require a certain amount of arts to control, there is such a thing as auto crossbows, which reload the crossbow for you
I may or may not be wrong, so feel free to correct me

I'm very curious about this. If you're using the Foot stirrup, it the arrow already placed or is it placed after.
Im assuming its after, you wouldnt wanna misfire to your foot.
After. If you put it on before, then the arrow extends past the foot pedal, meaning you can't ground it, usually required for the foot pedal reload, or get your foot properly through it in order to apply the proper force, which js definitely required.
Most crossbows are cocked before the arrow is place in anyway, just because you need to grip the string to pull it up, the arrow just gets in the way. Its also way to weak to withstand the force required to cock a crossbow.
the bolt are placed after pulling/locking the string to the ready/fire position.
u can browse how crossbow being used on YT especially the medieval one since those have the stirrup while the modern one (especially the compound one) usually dont need those part anymore

Crossbows use bolts. Bows use arrows. Thats the distinction between the 2. Even if you take an arrow intended for a bow and use it on a crossbow, it will be called the crosbows bolt.

it's more a balista than a crossbow.
