- Hi Guy's, in this video i'm going to show you how to replace a power Jack in a Microsoft Surface 3 Model 1657, and the reason that i'm showing how to disassemble the motherboard is because there are some hidden screws, and i know people have asked me in the past how to take out the motherboard. I don't have footage of the screen removal because there are a ton online and i didn't feel the need to show it again.
The reason there is classical music is because i was listening to music that is protected so sorry for that ;)

Hello! Is posible use a USB C to remplace the micro USB?

Hi. I hope you are doing well. The video looks great. Unfortunately, I may not have the tools to perform the change myself. Can I send this for repair to your (or someone you know) shop? A quotation would help determine if the repair is worth the cost. The power port is really giving us problems. I am sure the problem is the port itself. Plus, the Mini DisplayPort is also damaged (conductor lines). My concern is that both ports could get damaged again after repair if they have the same quality as the originals. I consider the tablet very good otherwise, but those two ports are poorly designed/integrated imo. Can you please let me know your thoughts? Regards.
Unfortunately, the ports are not of any higher quality. If the port wore out once, it likely will again.
The Ports that i ordered seem to be extremely close to the original one's... But these new ports these days are really fragile... They seem to be that way for a reason Wink Wink.
Manufactures seem to want people buying new equipment every year or every two years...

Where are you from?
It's hard to say if it will be worth the repair without seeing it. The problem with this Surface model is that everyone (That has experience) will most likely give you a quote to replace the Ports and the LCD module, because the are really glued shut and the likely-hood of braking the LCD when trying to pry it open is really high.
I liked the quality of the ports i ordered but the ports these days are normally very fragile, it happens on tons of equipment's.

@@Fixepedia you may have just made up my mind. I just checked the cost of the lcd. Adding that to the cost of the ports and their replacement may not be worth it. Perhaps I can better invest my pennies in an iPad or a budget laptop. What are the best portable devices tablet/laptop in your opinion? I mean in terms of reliability and expected life time.
@@Fixepedia HELLO I used an aftermarket amazon charger and left the surface3 on overnight charging with that device and now I believe the device has bricked it. Any charger i put into the surface 3 the white led light turns off immediately (like a short) Where are you at? I want to send this laptop in to you because its my work laptop and I cannot lose the data in there. Thanks! Everyone PLEASE DO NOT USE AMAZON OR BLANK LABEL CHARGERS WITH THESE LAPTOPS!!!!!

Don't you mean the LCD? Because that's how you get in the device. . . You have to remove the LCD with a heat gun.

@@Fixepedia Did you break the screen getting it off...? Is that why you didn't show the removal process.....?Just curious, I have never been able to remove any of these Surface Pro screens without cracking it, no matter how slowly you go with plastic removal tools or plastic credit card not even if you heat the glass very hot., or tape the glass, I only offer replacement screen service, there is no way I'm going to replace the DC socket port if the screen doesn't need replacing. The only time it would be possible is if the screen has already been replaced and the replacement screen doesn't have the same strong factory stickiness
@@pcfixbrighton Hi, you are totally right. . The same thing happens to me, in that same order. . In this case I think that the screen had issues and the jack was damaged so the client payed for both. But if if was just the jack that was the issue I would do the same thing and give him an estimate for both, those screens are glued on for dear life, I never understood why, for us it's a pain in the ass.
So don't feel bad. . We are in the same boat 😂

Hi, how much does "the charging port" cost ? My computer doesn't want to charge bc the the charging port has corrosion. How much do you think the replacement of that part will cost please
I've checked ebay and there, it can be as low as £3.
