It's always interesting to hear about the backstage politics of the scripts and script possibilities. I've said before that it adds so much context to the movie's creation.
Thank you for such an insightful video! As a child in the mid 70s, having seen Beneath on television,I always felt that there was a better movie inside the one that was ultimately released.
Thank you so much David Ryan. I agree that the film has so much in it that is just bulging to express and yet it feels constricted. The final version is less than what should have been made but I still enjoy it despite all its tarnishes. Look forward to your opinion on our part 2 video. Thanks so much for the Super Thanks.
Just watched this movie yesterday (going through the series with my roommate who's never seen them). Glad to see your video in my feed. Very informative!
I often think of these movies as ones I've never seen, but as I watch your videos, I realize that I watched them on TV as a kid, and my long-lost memories of them are coming back to me.
I have to be honest and say I've never seen the television series but since I've started the channel I've only gone back to old media and watching the apes show sounds really fun.
I might have gotten the wrong end of the stick from this, but the more I hear about Charlton Heston the more he goes up in my estimation. I originally wrote him off (as a person) as a hard-right republican with a sinister agenda. Now I'm beginning to think otherwise and look upon him as a man with some intelligence, imagination and a generous spirit. Whether I'm in error or not I thank you for making me think on this.
Charlton Heston was one of the main celebrities behind the 1960's Martin Luther King movement. He pushed for equality and freedom such as gun rights with passion. He shared sensibilities of both parties like many NORMAL people do in America. He was outspoken and sometimes a bit arrogant, but his sincerity was for real.
@@RepresentThis Thank you for the info, I'm glad I mentioned it. I'd much rather think well of someone as not and it sounds as if I was definitely misguided about the gentleman.
Ooof! So many possible sequels, all with their own flaws. I'm not sure the one we got was any better. Not every franchise gets an 'Aliens' improvement - some movies should just wrap up with the original story.
The ending was too negative. They could've had Brent and Nova survive and just have the bomb destroy the mutants and the gorilla army as that one producer said. The chimpanzees Zira and Cornelius could've taken over ape city, then eventually left earth in Brent's surving capsule/rocket and time traveled back to Earth in the 20 C, right where Escape picks up.
This is a good movie I enjoyed watching it would have been better if the story about the human telitpaths before encountering the ape people. I still think the ending should have more of a positive ending involving rebuilding earth with the human telitpaths help to educate the humans with out fighting with the ape people.
I used to really like this movie but it truly is BAD. They should never have tried to capture lightning in a bottle twice. Every one of those rejected scripts could have been a better movie than the one we got
Been waiting for this one. Beneath is so underrated. Easily the best of the sequels
I love the first 4 ape films. Classic all the way.
@@RepresentThisfor me Escape is the sequel I’m most fond of.
@@coinopanimator Escape is a great film.
Agreed. I also like hearing my first name, which isn't very common, in a movie too!
I love the whole damn bunch lol. Meaning the original 5. I grew up with them. Great fun!

The alternate scripts are the key to understanding what a film became and why. That's why I do what I do.

@@RepresentThis It's mind blowing to hear that Charlton Heston would label this decade-spanning franchise as "creatively done" after its first movie.
I’m loving that you’re still going with these quality deep-dives bro!
I'm loving that you returned to see some more.
Thanks
Thanks, beachcomberbob. I so appreciate your support and regular comments. It means a lot to me.
Just watched this movie yesterday (going through the series with my roommate who's never seen them). Glad to see your video in my feed. Very informative!
Thanks a bunch Bat. Glad you enjoyed it.
That ending was bleak, maaaaan.
Wow, you're really putting in the overtime this week (I'm not complaining 😃👍👍)
Another great video. Can you imagine if they left that human/ape hybrid abomination in the movie? Wow...
It's ok just go ahead and release pt. 2 now, we are ready.
Love your name and enthusiasm porkflaps.

Total Recall!!!
@@RepresentThis I have to get my ass to Mars.
Lucky for us we get two of your amazing videos in a day. How about doing this every week?
If only that were possible. I would if I could. :)
Thank you, great work as always/
I watched the tv series a couple of weeks ago, it's very good, and I wish there was a season 2.
I have to be honest and say I've never seen the television series but since I've started the channel I've only gone back to old media and watching the apes show sounds really fun.
@@RepresentThis It's pretty good. The two actors do a great job, and Roddy's always great.

Totally underrated...wait has someone already used the underrated word already!!! Damn..you gotta be quick these days..
It just reinforces your opinion if someone said it before you. And I agree with you about it being underrated.
Rumor had it Victor could be heard trolling some 12 year old on cod from his trailer...
Excellent.

That's what the star of the 1st Ape movie thought, Charlton Heston.

Same here the ending is dismal and really takes the joy out of rewatching
Shame, I'd have kinda liked seeing Zaius in a circus wagon cage.
Poor Zaius...:)
Beneath needed to open with a normal ship landing for the sequel to make sense
They wanted the series to end, especially Heston, but you are right, had they just landed a ship it would have made the sequel more palatable.
Ok. Accidentally clicked this one. It is time.
Are you going to cover all the original movies?
Conquest I think is the stand out
I gotta be honest, I love the next two Ape films. I guess it depends on what you all want. I'll do it sooner or later if you folks want me to.
@@RepresentThis I’ve only just found these so I’d vote for a continuation. 👍
Escapes my favourite
Escape has some amazing emotional moments. Zira and Cornelius are expertly used in that film.
@@RepresentThis Also we got to hear another amazing Jerry Goldsmith score

Oh yes. This? This I like. Dig deep friend
So ahead of its time: is it a premonition for the Gaza War and the Ukraine War? Proxies
We go over some of its correlations with today in our next video. I think the classic Ape films are quite prolific in their messaging.
@@RepresentThis yes they were pretty Woke even then hehe
