Hey Guys! A few evenings ago Phil from Down2Mob Overland busted out his Camp Chef to cook up some steaks, asparagus, and bacon so I decided to record a bit of it to see how preparing food on this surprisingly affordable "outdoor oven" would work out in the field.

I bought one years ago and we use it for when we do a large tailgate before a football game, and camping out a few days at a festival or race. Big and bulky for sure, but with two burners up top and two racks inside the over it'll cook a lot at one time. Also breakfast muffins and dinner rolls are just a luxury to enjoy.

@@jasmandolin7853 I think you'll love it. Just watch out for the vents on the sides and rear as they do let out a lot of heat when using the oven. Make sure nothing flammable is near them.

Hey Brian, I just watched an little older video you saying your direction is changing with what's going on with your health... I think I got some ideas for videos. I watch a ton of these van life/ truck camping etc..videos but I also relate this subject to bugging out ..shit hits the fan type videos...like for example you can do a bug out bag video where you go through and pull out your fire starting kit ...med kit ECT...Don't do reviews on products ..No one wants that. We want the experienced guy telling us this is what I do...and this is what I do if something bad happens..you must have a hiking bag or go bag if you need to leave your vehicle..if you look it up on UA-cam those videos get a ton of views ...I watched your specific gear for summer camping a lot so I could grab tips and learn.....gear videos people love especially when the camera is just showing the gear in your hands I don't know why but it attracts the eye. It might sound boring but I love watching that stuff anyways just an idea take care!

LOL> I've actually seen that done. It was done as a joke but it actually works for real.. I saw a beautiful white fish with lemon herbs done that way.. I never expected it to turn out that good.. mainly because they were horsing around... but it works doesn't it?

This works with a one lb green cylinder propane bottle. Took the 20lb tank camping a few days. Deep fried. Grilled with a griddle on top. And baked cookies. Works great. On smaller trips I'll take the green bottles.

Not sure Phil's propane is going to last as long as he hopes if he keeps cooking steaks as thick as that looked; lol I miss having a Camp Chef, got rid of mine when it was the only thing that required propane.

    Leave the steak alone!!
Your sear is not as good due to the seasoning keeping it off the grill AND your constant fiddling. Your just searing spices. Salt is all you need. If you need spices, spice the cutting board you’re resting the steak on. Then cut it on the board, thereby mingling the spice with the juices...your welcome.
