I’m so so happy that I bought every single EXperimental 12” during the early 90s. My all-time favorite is still Ray-Love “Symphony of Love” but the whole discography is stellar. I’ve probably said this before on this glorious channel but my favorite labels, while numerous, are especially EXp, Nu Groove, early Warp, and Atmosphere Records. 🖤

@@rossovenstone Probably an obvious maybe silly question - you’ve checked discogs yes? I know I’ve seen many EXp 12”s for sale in the past, even multiple copies of Afghan Acid (so good I was tempted to buy a 2nd copy for no reason lol)

i'm a lot younger and this is way before my time but i get the vibe that it really was a pretty good label considering how much of it holds up today. there's a really good mix of only stuff by this label which was put out pretty recently, i think you just need to search essential guide to experimental records on youtube

If one aims to reproduce this type of sound is old hardware better or the newer ones ?
You can more or less do everything old hardware could do on a computer, including simulate the distortion and imprecise midi timing. Maybe get some tape recorders or an old sampler if you are really picky about the authentic sound. Only reason to get old hardware is if you enjoy the workflow and find it creatively stimulating.
