So many drinking experiences. Most of them not to be shared except in person, and possibly while making new memories! I will say that once, back in my youth, I got so drunk that I decided I was fluent in Spanish and only spoke Spanish for the whole night. I got quite frustrated that no one was responding to me, but nobody I was with spoke any Spanish and somehow my drunken brain couldn't figure it out, or switch back to English. Hilariously, I did speak some text book Spanish at the time but was in no way fluent, so even if they had spoken Spanish, they probably still wouldn't have been able to respond!
I'll tell a story. It's not story of drinking, but it is an embarrassing alcohol story. I used to work in a middle school. I had the 7th and 8th grade kids who were in "in school suspension." I lived in the same neighborhood as the school, and I was at the grocery store, checking out, when some of my students saw me and came over. I was stuck in the line, and couldn't avoid them, and I was buying tampons and coconut rum. 🤭 They were all like, "Ooooh, Ms Carlisle, are you buying alcohol?😮😮 Thank goodness they didn't mention the rest of my purchase. 😂
Come downs maybe nothing special, but you on the other hand are exactly that. Regardless of the subject matter, you always manage to transport me to another time, with an overwhelming surge of dopamine.💞💖💞 Thank you Gorran, I hope you're keeping well and still enjoying yourself out there! Love and light.💕💕
The backstory 😂 Don’t mess with people’s ferments! On that topic, fermenting vegetables (so tasty!) has been helping me get over my cheese habit, which sounds benign/amusing enough, but over the years I’ve realized it is in a class of foods that are just way too stimulating for me, leading to many moments of elation but also moments of waking up not feeling about things the way I did the night before. Every day that I wake up now with a clear mind and a feeling of full continuity from the day before is such a gift. Sounds like I’ll have lots to discover in these lyrics, gonna go listen again to the EP version ❤️
Xmas party fancy dress....obviously dressed up as a Xmas tree 🎄...WITH lights ! 🙈 😂 A long walk home with no 🚽 meant 'improvising' 🌳🌲....but I couldn't find the off switch for my lights 🤣😂 we still laugh about it 30 years later
Such a beautiful song, Gorran. I really like the sentiment of the lyrics. Isn’t it funny that the older we get the more drinking seems less significant. We start to realise it’s the company that’s important and bringing people together to share the joy and help each other through the hard times too. Personally, I far prefer sharing a good meal to being around people who just drink to get drunk purely for the sake of it. That gets old very quickly to me. I do like a drink when having a good catch up with friends though.
I can't shake the Bob Dylan vibes, but this one gave me some Donovan vibes too. My nan's favourite song was 'Catch the Wind' and I played it to honour her memory last year when she passed. I'd love to hear you cover that!
Never learned to like alcohol. I figured there were lots of other things that I liked right away, so why waste the time? Which means all my mistakes are made with no handy excuse. Thanks Gorran!

Your music immediately transports me back to my youth. Such a wonderful rush of the feel goods washes over me. I honestly don’t know of any other artist that has this effect on me. That is powerful. ❤
Found this comforting Gorran. I'll play it some more. Thanks for the transcript but would be grateful to see the lyrics in their stanzas so I can sing along. t's a good song and worthy of that
What a lovely song about poor decision making. You almost don't even notice. Once again, your melodies and fingerpicking dance synchronistically with each other.

Beautiful song. The good part of drinking….get outside of your own head while socializing. But it was a fine line to tread between eloquence and mush mouth and next day regret. Gotta say it again….imo - you are pretty much tops on harmonica-guitar duets. ( A duet of one? Hmm). This isn’t just a harmonica melody over basic strumming. Both instruments are doing more than basic stuff.

The 21st Century John Denver. Great stuff man. Great stuff.
Always loved how you sing the line: "Why you scared?"
Beautiful song❤
I'm not sharing my drinking experiences 😂😂😂
I've really enjoyed when this one comes up in your busking sessions. It leads beautifully out of one song and into the next.

Great story. Stocking up on essentials. 👌
Feels like a timeless classic m8. You carry the flame from the greats of the 60s and 70s. Awesome stuff!
Wonderful voice - speaking and singing. Great writing- performance. ❤

If you drink too much jagermeister, the pool table will stand on end. It makes billiards rather complicated 😊
Mio bellissimo Gorran, vibrazioni antiche e classiche, sei così speciale ❤❤ bravissimo 😢❤

Donovan is high praise.
"Wash our hands and make amends" - my new quote for the day - you are a wordsmith Gorran.

I like this song, danke❤❤❤
Haha, love the little intros. See you tomorrow 🥳
He's the only one who releases intros like this and I look forward to each of them. I enjoy him sharing the backstory of a song’s creation with us.

Lyrics:
coming up or coming down it's all the
same is going out there's not much to it
it's quite easy you drink to think to
make you
queasy yes it is nothing special much to
say all I last night and then today I
thought I saw a candle burning by the
light of dawn this
[Music]
morning take a second stop right there
what you're doing why you scared you
know big secret to make amends go wash
your hands and start again
a deck of cards to tell the time tens
and twos and a friend of mine come
gather around the empty table to share
wine and exchange
fables the window frames the city stage
a knowing actors act so strange double
blind wear
overdressing
improvising some say
[Music]
guessing take a second stop right there
what you're doing why you scared you
know big secret start again go wash your
hands and make a
men
[Music]
[Applause]
you
[Music]
no Epiphany to strike my mind just
fireworks behind blind eyes the reason
why I should recall some things are lost
before they
fall disappointment haunting me so
selfish was I in my I need to fuel and
Sate my hungry State these seconds are
mine to
was it take a second stop right there
what you doing why you scared you know
big secret start again go wash your
hands and make
men
**loving hearing this**

Soooo here I am again listening ... ✨✨💛✨✨
Beautiful! Loved this one, thank you .♥
😂Yep, the pain is not worth the pleasure of overindulging! Your music, though, is well worth my time and attention❤❤❤
Another winner, Gorran!
Beautiful as always. Sorry I wasn’t in live chat for a while, but I bet there was a round of applause for this one!

Yay! Calendar blocked. 🐒💙
🥰🥰🥰beautiful ❤️
slow gin was a thing in my teenage yrs but don’t drink anymore
I have a number of misbegotten alcohol stories. Most of them, fortunately, involve things other people have done.
❤
