When Kintaro was about 6 months old, Momotaro was curious about Kintaro.
Momotaro usually doesn't spend much time on the side of Genki, but around this time he went near Genki many times.
Of course, at this time, Genki still did not allow Momotaro to touch Kintaro.
⚠️ Due to the spread of COVID-19, Kyoto City Zoo will be closed from April 25th to May 31st.

⭐️モモタロウ Momotaro ♂(2000/7/3)
momotaro was born at Ueno zoo in Tokyo on jul.3,2000 and came to our zoo on Oct.18,2010.
He is beautiful and handsome ,the silverback of our troop.
He is a little timid,and scared of new things.
He sometimes shows lovely behaviors that melt our hearts.
He is making efforts to be a good dad for his two sons.
⭐️ゲンキ Genki ♀(1986/6/24)
Genki was born at our zoo on Jun,24,1986.
After mating with several males without a pregnancy she found her perfect partner Momotaro.
Now she is a loving and caring mom for her two sons.
She sometimes behaves boldly,yet she can also be sensitive.
Genki has a cute face with shining eyes.
⭐️ゲンタロウ Gentaro ♂(2011/12/21))
Gentaro was born at our zoo on Dec.21,2011,as Momotaro and Genki's first son.
Unfortunately Genki didn't have enough milk,so he was nursed by keepers for his first 10.5 months.
Now he loves his mom,and his face really looks like her.
He also loves people .
Everyone immediately agrees that he is a very adorable boy.
⭐️キンタロウ Kintaro ♂(2018/12/19)
Kintaro was born at our zoo on Dec.19,2018.
He has big bright eyes and long eyebrows.
He is growing fine ,being loved by his parents and brother.
He love to play by himself,with his father.
He is still small, but smart and strong-willed.
His cute appearance and behavior attract everyone's interest.

人間と同じ家族。愛情深く子供を守る母と、静観しつつも触れ合ったりいざとゆう時厳しい父。弟が出来て甘えられないお兄ちゃんに何げなく手を出して触れ合いをする最後のシーンにジーンとしてしまいました。

So many touching moments in that video! My heart goes out to Momo, just wanting to see his son and poor Genki stressed to the max, running here and there. I love the scene when she finally let's him look. Momo being smart not trying to touch, just sitting as still as he can be. The part where Dad and son are in the box together is endearing. Momo saying, hey Bud it's just you and me now for a bit! Excellent 🎥
Mo and Kinny have a great father-son relationship. I love watching their bond grow throughout the years. 💞🦍💚

So incredibly patient and well mannered. For the most part male gorillas are not a danger to their own young. Male chimpanzees on the other hand, and hell even other female chimpanzees are a threat to baby chimps.

Poor Genki is always getting attacked by Gentaro's playful antics. She understands and is so patient. She makes me laugh though when she gives him the backhand letting him know that he's annoying her. Such a sweet family.
Poor Momo. Just wants to see his son. Genki having none of it. Those were the days she wouldn't sit next to him and hardly looked at him. Now, in 2021, they're stealing glances and even sitting together. Hmmmmm.........💖💖

The father, oldest son moments are absolutely precious. I've also never seen footage of Dad so interested in the baby. It certainly changes my impression of big daddy, not that I have a bad impression, just never seen this behavior in all the time I've been following the family.

Just wish they had more freedom & privacy to just be alone without people gawking at them all the time. I think they yearn for that like we as human value our privacy & freedom🤔

Totally agree...the Silverbacks and their mates I’ve watched in other gorilla videos don’t behave this way. Most of the mothers are more open to their mates at least sitting close to their children. In my opinion, Genki is not a typical gorilla mom; she’s possessive of Kintaro (some of this is probably normal), she completely disregards Gentaro most of the time even though he is her son, too, and she seems fearful and unfriendly towards Momotaro. I know about her history and it seems as if she struggles with mental and emotional issues. I am not a gorilla expert...just my opinion based on what I observe in the videos.
