- Hey guys! Today I am introducing a new idea for a video series, potentially. Depending on how you guys like this one. Well, I have to at least do 1 more because I still have a couple boxes to open, buuut whatever. 😂
I decided to have a little throwback moment and order some mystery boxes off of Etsy (remember when ebay mystery boxes was like THE trend on youtube?!). I wanted to not only have fun unboxing some random items picked by a stranger, but also throw a creative spin on this. My channel is all about creativity and making art, so I thought a cool way to incorporate some art would be to force myself to choose ONE item received from a mystery box and have to use it as part of some creative project. I will either paint on it, decorate it, customize it orrrrr something completely different, who knows?! It's a mystery!
This ended up being a really fun video to make, so I am reallyy hoping you guys enjoy it, because I would love to do it again. If you have any recommendations for where I can buy some more mystery boxes, please let me know! I think this could get really interesting and be a fun way to discover new painting projects and find cool ideas for things to customize.

"I don't know the story of the lucky cat."

The most common story is that a wealthy man was taking shelter from a storm under a tree when he saw a cat in a nearby temple gesturing with it's paw. The man interpreted this as the cat beckoning for him to approach, so he ran from under the tree to the temple. The moment he set foot in the temple, lightning struck the tree, destroying it instantly. The man was very thankful to the cat and kept it as a companion until it's death, and also became caretaker of the temple. After the cat died, he put up a statue of the cat gesturing in the temple to honor it. After the statue was put up, the temple prospered, and the statue of a cat with it's paw raised became a symbol of good fortune.

For anyone interested about the lucky cat origin story:
Once, in Japan, near a temple, a man was hiding underneath a tree to avoid being rained on during a storm, when he saw a cat at the entrance of the temple. The cat looked like it was waving its paw, to call the man inside. And so, he ran into the temple. Moments later, the tree he was hiding under got struk by lightning.

I’m 45. Started watching her with my oldest who was in high school daughter 5 or 6 years ago? She has now graduated college. Now I I watch with my 6 year old ( she started watching it when she was 4) and to night was the first time my 1 year old showed interest in watching with us. Lol it’s a family tradition to tune in every Friday to see the new ones and for us to randomly try one of her projects.
