Evan's Suzuki Book 2 Graduation (14 pieces)

- This video represents Evan's 'graduation' from book 2 of Suzuki's School of Music. The recording is a little under 20 minutes and encompasses 14 pieces. Thank you for listening* :)
*Also, check out 'Ivy Q' ( • Suzuki Piano Book 2 Gr... ) who just uploaded her own Suzuki Book 2 Video (Ivy and Evan were Suzuki classmates. :))
He not only has a great teacher, but great home teachers in his parents. This quality of performance in a child is only achieved when parents are involved! Well done!
Evan is always listening to the Suzuki CD (in the car, in the house and even at night when he goes to sleep). This constant repetition-coupled with his consistent daily practice-makes memorizing the music easier.
From my experience:
1. Get enough sleep (for both child and parent)
2. Always satisfy your child's basic needs prior to practice (hunger, washroom, etc)
3. Plan your practice (I write everything down). Evan and I talk about what we'll be working on before we begin
4. Add a fun element to the practice at the end (it could be just playing a favourite piece or a game)
5. Communicate with your child's teacher if you have any practice issues. They have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to offer
My 9 year old son is working through Book 2 now, and you are an inspiration when the technique seems impossible. You have beautiful hand position. Your gift and hard work is evident. Thank you for sharing.
Evan's teacher uses "koosh balls" to create relaxed hands and fingers. Try trimming the koosh ball to fit comfortably into your daughter's hand. While she gently holds the ball, ask her to slowly play twinkle A or B one finger at a time. If she does this everyday, her hands and fingers will learn to relax over time.
On weekdays, Evan practices BEFORE school for about an hour (better concentration in the morning.) On weekends he practices about 2-3 hours early in the day.
Good advice with the koosh balls, will try it with my students, thank you 🌻
Evan's teacher and I make up the themes to match the songs. We listen to the tempo and come up with story lyrics to match (in the case of Minuet 2 we adapted the Cinderella story). It works better when you do it together with your child.
I'm 36 years old. Evan is responsible for make me study piano.
Since out/2019
I'm in book 2 now. I did book 1 in 30 days. Book 2 I'm in 6 music. Thanks Evan for inspiration.
Hello from Brazil.
I just finished book 1 and I have been playing for 6 years. Sometimes a good teacher can make the best of you.
6 years!?!?
@@Birthwellbirthright Well ten now XD
@@0ceanvibes407 how is the progress? also lol what how im on book 1
@@giocosovelasco I don't use suzuki all that much anymore. Just whatever i feel like really now, but there is a lot of fun and easy songs in there for sure!
Actually no one in the family is a pianist. Evan's teacher spends a lot of time helping Evan articulate the songs. She tries to give him a story he can relate, to add emotion to the piece. I (home coach) can't play the piano so I sing the tunes to help him shape each phrase. Evan is not just playing the piano but is trying to let his piano sing. :)
Thank you for sharing. That does sound very helpful.

Merveilleux ! Quelle concentration et quel jeu pendant les 14 morceaux et tout de tête . Un grand plaisir à vous écouter. Le siège semble très confortable
Evan is amazing! I can't believe how well he played all the songs in book 2! Very difficult to do!
Evans has inspired ✨️ me a lot. I couldn't get the chance to learn the piano in my childhood until now, and I'm done with the book already.
Beautiful playing
Evan just turned eight (he was six years old when he recorded book 1). We're glad you like his playing :)
His performance is so polished and mature. Especially seeing how he emotes the pieces and shapes the nuances of the music. Is someone else in the family also a pianist? He has an amazing talent, well done Evan (mom & dad as well).
This is EXCELLENT!
You play so smooth and perfect!! Two thumbs up for Evan!!❤❤🎉🎉👍🏻👍🏻
You are really helping my daughter soooo much
I like when you preformed the songs
Nice
Beautiful playing!
Good work Evan keep up the good work!
Congratulation on your book 2 graduation Evan! Wonderful as always!
This student must definitely have a good teacher. Very well-done.
Waaaoooww! I even can’t join the lefthand and righthand together!! Amazing for Evan!!❤❤🎉🎉
I am also a Suzuki mom of two. One is almost graduating from book one and the other is about half way through. Their teacher also does some activities with koosh balls but this idea really catch my attention. I tried to make one koosh ball out of rubber bands but it looked weird and also tried with plastic bags but still not satisfied with the results. Would you share how you made yours?
Evan was very talented. How was he when he started piano lessons?
good job Evan! cannot wait to see you how successful you will be. Congrats little bro !!!!
I'm watching this now!! Like I commented Volume 3 but fabulous i love your work and the sound I'm glad I know this video

Thank you for sharing, both Evan and mother are wonderful. I know there is a lot of effort a mother need to put in in shaping the practice, you have done a job! Evan, you make mummy proud! =) keep up the good work!
Evan is amazing!!! Yes, he does help his piano sings. My son is turning into 7 this Nov. and getting ready for his book 1 graduation....both of us, Mother and son are looking forward to work on book 2. May i ask how did his teacher find story themes to relate to Evan? Did she made them up :)? I always wanted my son to add his emotion to the songs but don't know how to help him.
Fez belas Apogiaturas e executou muito bem os ralentandos, principalmente nos finais de Cradle song e Arietta. Também adorei os arpejos no minuetto 2.

I wonder whats the personality of a prodigy
Wow Evan
Many thanks for your tip. i made a "koosh ball" for my daughter Sedona and seems work very well.Really appreciated. and also the more i show Evan's video for her. her hands works more like Evan. I have to say when Evan plays piano he is so attractive! He will be a star! I know everyday practice is very important. can i ask does Evan sometimes refuse to practice?like when he is moody or tired. how can you deal with it?
hello, is he learning yet how to read music?
Yes, Evan started learning to read in book 2 and can now fully read music. Up to book 2 he played mostly by memory and by ear.
Love Evan so much,my daughter learning suzuki piano as well. i was let her watch Evan's book 1 nearly everyday! He is amazing! How old is him?
Evan's fingers are perfect when he is playing, Just wondering how can you correct him in the beginning? another question is do you set up certain time to ask him play everyday?
Evan's performance is absolutely stunning! I guess the mother has paid tons of work behind the scene. Also, the mother or father must have good knowledge in music and piano. It's recorded in 2013, what Evan is doing now? I wonder.
