Hi! If you want to have reliable and fast draws, improved stability of holster and counterbalance whatever you do, and overall best user experience, we highly recommend having it tied down to your belt. However, there are gun owners that carry shoulder holsters without belt too.
@seadowg5515 If you wear it correctly, you don't need belt straps. The holster and mags should be adjusted higher under the arm pit. The reason they use the belt straps is because they wear it to low and it flops everywhere. Defeats the purpose of the shoulder rig all together.
Do you have to attach it to your belt? Could you wear it kind of like a vest?
