TY brother! I identify as Mexican-American born in Los Angeles. From my Mexican background I am Mestizo, which means that I have Indigenous Mexican blood combined with European blood. From a religious background, my dad was Catholic and my mom was a Protestant Christian. I have the same point of view you have of the Catholic Church. I even taught at a Catholic school for over a year-but I focused on the doctrines of the Bible. We are all flawed sinners, but we are repentant and forgiven. That is why we should be primarily guided by the Bible and the Holy Spirit, and we should remain in daily prayer and study of the Bible. God Bless You and thanks for sharing your faith. I pray you will continue to do so as the opportunities arise.

How do Native Americans feel about Protestant Christians? Do your people feel they also have betrayed Indigenous peoples?

I would guess so given the track record of Protestant America. But there were also amazing, saintly priests and missionaries among the Catholic/Protestant settlers who fought for the people and loved them as Christ does. So I think the atrocities were committed by the imperialist powers under the guise of religion that had not been separated from the State.

I just read an article that Baptists are now encouraging missionaries to embrace pow-wows when witnessing to tribes in North America. What are your thoughts on this? It's my understanding that the pow-wows are ancient tribal dances to the Great Spirit or ancestors? The Great Spirit is not the Holy Spirit, so I don't know why this is okay. I do know that since the Native American tribes were so badly treated by the colonial settlers (not all of them) and forced to convert in many instances, that wanting to keep the culture is important. But where do we draw the line between spiritism and culture? ** I'm like so many people in my state of Oklahoma, in that I have Native ancestry and met one of my elders when I was little, but there is no record of a tribe that my family belonged to, so I went searching for my Native American culture and landed in new age shaman spirituality. I don't claim to truly know about Native religion, but what I learned in shamanism was definitely not Christian and it was more witchcraft than anything else, and so when Jesus saved me, I got rid of all the spiritual items I used to connect to nature like my feathers, sage, dreamcatcher etc. I got rid of some beautiful beaded earrings too because they had a symbol on them that was from 'bad medicine' --or that's what another Native American girl told me). So, have you struggled with things like this? The church calls it syncretism (blending cultures into Christianity), but Jesus has convicted me that getting rid of idols from every culture is necessary for me to not have any other gods before Him and not to engage in any more spiritism or anything that puts me in charge of a 'spiritual ceremony' or ritual.

If that helps, I threw away my chicken bones, tarot cards, witchcraft books covered in blood, got rid of occult symbols. It took me a bit of time. Then I suddenly threw away the stuff. Didn't felt attached to it anymore.

I went to a Pow-Wow once and felt the overwhelming power of darkness there. It is basically a spirit-worship session. So messed up.

anybody who knows Jesus, please look up these verses of the quran that i have at the end of my post to confirm what i am about to say. i am not telling you not to read the quran, but i pray that if you do, you see it for the deception that it is.
the Jesus in the quran was not Jesus of the Holy Bible... quran 10:94 says to check the authenticity of the quran by asking the people of the Old and New Testament (Christians). as a man of God, i assure you that the quran does not teach the truth. it directly contradicts the Word of God. God does not contradict Himself; He is not the author of confusion. If you find contradiction in the Holy Bible, you have misunderstood something.
proof of contradiction to the Word, for Christians to know the quran is not the Word of God Almighty:
      quran 4:34, 5:51, 9:5, 9:29, 33:50.
sahih bukhari vol. 4 book 55 hadith 657,
also, these are two things that islam endorses:
taqiyya/kitmān (lying about islam to disguise the intent of it),
      and mut'ah marriage (legal prostitution)

i'll sum it up for you, if you aren't able to look up the verses:
quran 4:34 says to beat your wife
quran 5:51 says do not be friends with Jews or Christians, and if you are friends with them, you are one of them. and allah will abandon you for it.
quran 9:5 says kill all polytheists and pagans unless they convert to islam, and pay a tax (extortion and rejection of Jesus Christ our Savior)
quran 9:29 says to fight the Jews and Christians until they convert to islam, and pay a tax (extortion and rejection of Christ our Savior)
quran 33:50 says allah will give to muhammad as gifts, all of his paternal and maternal cousins as slave wives
that last one is disgusting. the Word of God very clearly forbids incest, and very specifically that of cousins.
it also does not condone slavery, as you and i know to be slavery. slavery in the Bible is a temporary contract that is made between "slave" and master, in which the slave is treated with respect and has rights. this is more of a servant, and the contract was to favor both sides and upon completion, the slave was released of their servitude AND presented with bountiful gifts of value.
there was only 1 exception that i am aware of, which were the Canaanite slaves that were cursed by God and never allowed to be free. but they were still treated as servants; with respect.

Absolutely do not use the Quran as a guide it is NOT the holy word of God. That is the Bible the Quran is a fantasy book that makes up a continuum of lies about Jesus the one true God of the Holy Bible! The Quran is full of deceit!
