Nice series RJ Don't forget to also check the primer ram timing. Raise the carrier until the ram lever almost comes into contact with the adjust bolt. Stop. Lower the carrier again and carefully inspect the arm that feeds primers. Make sure it's in the most forward position. There is no adjustment for this but there is a mod. Install a washer to the spike on the right side of the machine.
From the interference you described, I surmise that the relief in the slider would allow the primer to tilt just slightly to lessen any binding caused by the interference.
Ah, is there a part 5? I've been skipping through the series trying to find out what is the solution to the primer punch being radially off-centered in relation to the shell plate, thereby pressing in primers in a misaligned manner. I noticed this as well and I've been fighting this issue from 1999 to 2009 and finally gave up on the press. I'm still curious as to how t bring the primer punch in alignment. In another poster's video, he mentioned he placed some super thing wires on the carriage to push the case outward at the priming station. What is everyone else doing to align the primer punch position so that primers are inserted dead-on?
Just doing research before upgrading to a progressive press. Was wondering if the question on the new design on the Gen3+ primer assy has anything to do with the assy cover (which you removed for demo purposes}. Does the cover articulate in any way with the new design? In any event, thanks for the information - I'm liking the Loadmaster and it's price point ...
I don't own a load master but i plan on getting one so I am doing research so that when I get it I know all the ticks and mods. I'm just guessing but the the tight fit might be to prevent over travel of the primer
That tight spot is so all your primers don't flow out when the slider is at the far end of its travel. Once that wears out with use, be wary. They pour into the spent primer catch faster than you can put them in. Not to sure about the notch though.
do the sticky at top of loadmaster forum by john lee "primer slide mod". A really good one.. Thanks for spike tip MascotAL.. Also i sanded bottom of trough from 3600 up too 6000 sandpapers i bought at auto-body supplier. Rjbishop2, thanks, I have done your mods,, thanks! You should all do shadowdog500 mod on your ejector, adding the tang! Best mod of all LEE loadmasters.
You say the new slider prevents double feeds, but then you say you don't understand what the new slider tip configuration is good for. It helps prevent double feeds.
Wow, haven't seen new primers in 3 years. Maybe we can get China to start making them since our country doesn't have the work force to make these Little things. Our country now pays people to sit home on the computer to cry about everything is racist instead of working.

Jake Balan I
I made a pencil sized cone out of painters tape for the hole under the primer feed, it catches only good primers and I smile every time I pull it out.
On second thought mascotAL, where do you put washer ?
It's a shame that with all their engineers they couldn't fix their own problem before selling those loaders
Nice video series. /John
