These guys make a huge difference. If you've ever been to a gig where the sound has been set up carefully it's mind blowing.. you can tell straight away and it puts a huge grin on your face
Reinier Basson anyone in this business wants the best and after spending so much money you’d have to love audio and your equipment why would you not baby it? There is nothing like that feeling of hearing your system just rock!!
As a DJ I’ve always thought that the quality of the audio is as important as what is being played. So many nightclub have rubbish sound when sound is the actual product they are pushing. Hats off to you sir for taking the time to make amazing sound!
It's one thing running a PA system but Sound System is definitely next level. About a decade ago my son came from a night out talking about the bass in a club he'd been to, so I booked tickets for Iration Steppas at a venue in Leeds, Mark Iration was playing along side OBF from France (I believe). The bass was so powerful that it even blew me away and I remember Iration before he was Iration. Over the years he's certainly come on in leaps and bounds. One love, sound system culture 😃👍
Ah man, I was coping alright with lockdown until now... now I just want to stand in front of this surrounded by happy people. One of the most incredible experiences I've ever had at a night was hearing and feeling this sound system, split into two, in two corners of a room that couldn't have been more than 15 x 40 ft, at Hope Works. Just continuous uncontrollable grinning and full-on body vibration.
Big up to Sinai. If you get the opportunity to see Sinai in action please do. The boys that run it are humble and absolutely on point. Awesome video, well filmed, well presented and well put together.
I used to run sound years ago for DnB events. Speaker location and phase cancellations was always a fun game! Your operation seems very good. Keep up the good work.
Since their upgrade to Paraflexs and the couple lil tweaks calum audio added to the original cut sheets, sinai sound is running the same set up as the B.S.System by Babylon Sonic Research in PHXAZ lol
Was wearing a baggy lightweight shirt on the night of the rupture takeover and the thing was literally getting lifted over my belly button whenever that kick hit. Truly powerful
Much love to Sinai for trying to make something for some of the best music out there. I remember seeing the old posters online for Deep Medi shows with this system, much love from Alabama. Real bass weight music will stay around.
This is my kind of rig! As a sound tech, rig owner and audiophile, I've been trying to figure out a way to bridge the gap between what you hear with clarity, depth and space in the studio with high end speakers, and bringing that to live sound world. You lot overseas have the ability to travel around europe with your soundsystems, to many different audiences, but alas here in North America, its just not the same. Thank you for the in depth look at all of the gear!
Unfortunately you will only get that in a night club if you spec a system which can reach high spl levels with minimal distortion in a room that has been acoustically treated like a studio which is rarely done .
I never liked Jamaican music or dub. But If there’s one thing I learned from Jamaican sound system culture is the importance of having your own audio rig. To have your own PA system while running an underground electronic label, just gives you so much freedom. I’m just surprised so many DJs in my country never sat down or too afraid to learn how to operate speakers. Sad for them really.
My favourite live system of all time is Dillinja & Lemon D's self-built Valve sound system. So rich and warm. Built with such love and a degree of obsession. It blew me away live. These Sinai guys seem to be similarly impassioned and obsessed with sound reproduction. It'd be nice to hear the Sinai system too.
Good content and happy to see 🇯🇲Jamaica’s Sound System Culture still growing around the world, however Sinai Sound System owner had some inaccurate statements about “traditional”Reggae/Jamaica Sound Systems not being as up to date or loud enough to cover large venues. The average Jamaican Sound System plays double 18” Subwoofer and mean while playing double 21” Subwoofer gaining fast in popularity.
I really like the rubber-based feet for the TT's. Back in the day ( early '80s) I was young and dumb and using a pair of BFI Bullfrog PA's with a monster Project One receiver. In order to isolate the TT from all the shaking I took two rectangular kitchen sponges and cut them in half, then placed each sponge on a saucer and each saucer under a foot on the TT. When we threw a party I'd wet the sponges and never had a problem again with records skipping.

I've had this experience, all the clubs I worked at had systems (usually CVA) that were built to a price and never maintained (mostly because management didn't want to invest in new drivers because profit margin blah blah blah). Either that, or having systems that were vastly underpowered for the venue, so had to be driven hard in order to get any decent coverage, and then ended up sounding shit. I find that privately owed clubs care more about their systems than high street venues.

Great video. I own a 5-way, Funktion-One Evo 7 system with 8 2x21" horn loaded subs and 2 double infrabass horns.. Pretty versatile, but it's been collecting dust as most sound systems around the world. Dreaming of getting it back on the sand floor.
Amazing work, it took me years to perfect my PA. 3 ways cross over to three different speaker arrays (high, mids, lows/subs) mcIntosh 2300 power amps. Vintage shit but sounds amazing.
What an interesting video. First video I ever saw about big sound systems. I never see videos like this about other sound companies that install huge sound systems. My very first experience listening to a big sound system work in a club in the late 80's and into the 90's, was at the Shelter in NYC. It was actually my first time ever going clubbing in NYC.But then I was told of some other club that had a huge sound system in NYC called "The Paradise Garage" and the sound there was done by Richard Long & Associates. Sadly I never got to experience The paradise Garage because it had closed back in '87 or '88 not sure of the year but around that time. People kept telling me that Richard Long & Associates always installed big sound systems that had amazing sounds. So I was told that a popular club in Newark New Jersey called Zanzibar had Richard Long & Associates sound system in there and to go check it out. So I went to check out club Zanzibar, as Im walking in I feel my Adams apple bouncing and as I'm getting closer in to the dance area my chest and rest of my body was pounding. I was like wow, now this is a sound system. It sounded tight, sounded loud but clean as if I was wearing the best pair of headphones and cranking it all the way up and no distortion. what an experience the Zanzibar was, and popular dj Tony Humphries was pounding that good deep house. Then someone told me about the famous Sound Factory in NYC. That space had an amazing sound system, it was done by Phazon Sounds. Again, a great sounding sound system by Phazon Sounds. It had those bass bottoms thumping real good and clean and tight. Had fond memories of that space, The Sound Factory was my to go to clubbing every weekend. As I got older I moved too far away and that was the end of my clubbing days. Today, I sometimes get the urge to go some place where they have huge sound systems where the dj is pounding some good house music. Well, that's all I have to say and again great video Fact magazine.
Those old Richard Long Sound systems are legendary. Anyone interested or into high quality sound system history and culture knows about them. The legendary bass bins known as "Big Berthas". I'd give almost anything to stand infront of one of those rigs, but alas they are no more.
The system at Ministry of Sound was based on the RLA design and it sounds amazing - vastly overpowered for the venue, so plenty of headroom. I used to work with the guy who got a job with MoS as their head engineer, and subsequently left there to work for Pioneer Pro Audio and worked on the development of their GS systems which were inspired by the MoS system, so I guess those would be the grandchildren of the original RLA systems from back in the day.
I experienced the soundsystem at Dimensions Sub-Dub Arena. The energy of the soundsystem was so intense the air started heating up from the vibrations. Unreal to actually start sweating from the energy of the music hahah
while i was watching the video i was wondering what were the best soundsystems i've ever heard, and i came up with the Sub Dub arena one (and Berghain, just as good); only after reading the comments i realized those guys were the owner of the soundsystem lol
While it's an entertaining idea, it wasn't the vibrations heating up the air. Even if you crammed two dozen 15kW M-Force subs into a tiny 500 person venue, the vibrations wouldn't heat up the air (but you would pass out from the agonising pain).
Francesco Spinolo are these actually good, or just powerful? The best soundsystem I’ve heard had a great body load but not too much... and yet you could hear all the elements through the highs fairly evenly.

That had already happened a LONG time ago...That started with American/Bronx HipHOp,and spread to dance clubs, like the Paradise Garage,Roxy,The Loft,etc,etc..
@@michaels8597 I am well aware of what happened back then, this reinforces what I am saying. In 1970's New York, Kool Herc who was originally from Jamaica brought the sound system culture to America and this played a big part in the development of Hip Hop. What I am really talking about now is how other genres and many countries accept the use of proper sound systems to play music, especially when it comes to driving the bass. The inspiration for this came from Reggae sound systems from 1950's Jamaica to the present day. You can find Reggae sound systems anywhere in the world now.
@@Legacy-mh8ku It was not just Herc who brought the sound systems, because they were also used by rock bands, other acts, since WAY before Herc was a youth. Now the development o Hip Hop was clubs like the 371 Club,Frankie Crocker on commercial radio, and playing outside in the park.Of course you can find Reggae sounds systems all over the world, just like you find BBoys,MCs,and DJs.Many countries have had these systems and many genres, for a LONG time, like Raves, wilderness events, etc, etc. $$$$$$$$..www.insure4music.co.uk/blog/2017/09/27/a-brief-history-of-the-pa-system/
@@michaels8597 I think we are talking about different things, I am not talking about clubs, rock bands and DJ's. Maybe I should rephrase my initial statement. What I am saying is that for a small country or island in the Caribbean, Jamaican sound system CULTURE has spread greatly around the world. I did not say Kool Herc was the only person who used a sound system, he used that style and played a role in developing Hip Hop. I am talking about how popular Reggae sound systems are as well as its CULTURE, it is not just about having the equipment to play music. I don't know if you follow the music, if you do you should know what I mean.

What show was that? Love Trinity. Was there when then it was powered by Firmly Rooted and Green King
I would love to hear it. Preferably blasting early 90’s Techno or liquid DnB
Danny K/L Yes!!!
Get down to Overflow in Leeds at Wire and you can hear it playing rollers / liquid.
Interesting to see how original Jamaican sound system culture has spread across the world now.

So dope and inspiring. Hope you to catch one day. Come to Cali!
